Chapter 1158: Fierce Battle with the Dragon Serpent Beast
Lin Wushuang saw the urgency of the situation and didn’t hesitate. Although she was a bit worried, she knew Chen Tianlong’s strength, and this serpent might not be able to harm him.
So Lin Wushuang moved to a safe place on the side, just watching the fighting scene from afar.
At this moment, Chen Tianlong calmed down, looking at this giant beast in front of him. It still looked terrifying, and he didn’t know how strong its attack was. Without further ado, he swung his sword forward to test the monster’s strength.
Chen Tianlong gathered a surge of powerful Qi and swung it through the Dragon Slayer Sword. As the Sword Qi was about to reach the monster, the Dragon Serpent Beast suddenly spewed a ball of fire from its mouth, dispersing the oncoming Sword Qi in a puff of smoke, and the fire swiftly swept toward Chen Tianlong.
Chen Tianlong was shocked and quickly leaped up, grabbing onto the branch of a big tree.
Lin Wushuang, watching nervously from the side, was heart-wrenched, and her palms instantly broke out in a sweat.
Chen Tianlong stayed on the tree for a moment, incredibly surprised. He was just probing, yet the serpent monster was so fierce, making him even more vigilant.
However, before Chen Tianlong had enough rest in the next moment, the Dragon Serpent Monster opened its large mouth again, spewing out a big fireball, heading straight for Chen Tianlong.
"Oh my God! Can’t I catch a break!"
Chen Tianlong was startled, immediately dodging, but the flames were too large and fierce, instantly scorching one side of Chen Tianlong’s face black.
After landing, Chen Tianlong scarcely had time to wipe off the soot when another flame came flying at him.
Meanwhile, the Dragon Serpent Beast waved its two front claws, trying hard to grab him. Chen Tianlong rolled twice on the ground, then clambered up and quickly ran to the side.
"Roar!"
The Dragon Serpent Monster was very excited, seemingly flaunting its might to Chen Tianlong, invincible in battle.
Chen Tianlong carefully observed; he believed that no matter how powerful a monster was, it had its weak spot. Similarly, the Dragon Serpent Beast was so fierce because it had transformed; if he could revert it to its original form, it would be easier to handle.
While he was thinking, the Dragon Serpent Beast began its next round of attacks. Such fierce beasts have a time limit on their transformation, and if dragged on long enough, its attack power would weaken and gradually revert.
It knows itself well, so it must eliminate its opponent before reverting to the original form.
The Dragon Serpent Beast charged forward rapidly, its entire body enveloped in anger, forming a massive force. Around it, gusts of wind had whipped up, sweeping up fallen leaves from the ground, instantly throwing the world into chaos.
Chen Tianlong didn’t think much further because the Dragon Serpent Beast didn’t give him much time to think. He could only activate the Nine Yang Celestial Dragon Technique Heart Method, and instantly, the Flaming Fury Dragon Sword transformed into a stream of Sword Qi, charging toward the Dragon Serpent Beast with the unique effect of the Dragon Slayer Sword.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
After three consecutive explosions, Chen Tianlong knelt on one knee, the Dragon Slayer Sword supporting him on the ground, with blood dripping from his arm onto the ground.
"Chen Tianlong!"
Lin Wushuang exclaimed and immediately stepped forward, wanting to come over, but the next moment, the Dragon Serpent Monster roared and a Fiery Fire Bomb flew over.
Lin Wushuang quickly dived to the ground, covered in dust.
"Wushuang, are you alright?"
Seeing Lin Wushuang dive, Chen Tianlong was greatly alarmed and quickly stood up.
"I’m fine, Chen Tianlong."
Lin Wushuang had only seen the Fiery Fire Bomb flying over and quickly dove to dodge. From Chen Tianlong’s angle, it looked as if she was knocked down by the explosion, which is why he was so worried.
Upon hearing Lin Wushuang say that, Chen Tianlong was reassured: "Wushuang, make sure to stay hidden, I can handle things here, please don’t come over."
"Okay, I understand, Chen Tianlong, be careful." Lin Wushuang was a sensible girl, knowing that since Chen Tianlong said so, he had his plan. If she rashly went over now, it would definitely disrupt Chen Tianlong’s formation, leading to a bigger mishap.
At this time, Chen Tianlong was focusing on observing the Dragon Serpent Beast’s movements, noticing that each time after it attacked, it would habitually take two steps back and wag its tail a few times as if fearing some part being attacked.
Thinking of this, Chen Tianlong’s curiosity was piqued, and he decided to take a risk to probe. As they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
So Chen Tianlong dashed forward immediately. The Dragon Serpent Beast saw the incoming fierce offensive and quickly became vigilant. As Chen Tianlong approached, it quickly spat out a Fire Bomb.
Just as Chen Tianlong’s lips curled slightly, he immediately leapt into the air and disappeared into the trees. The Dragon Serpent Beast was perplexed, thinking, are we fighting or playing hide and seek?
But the next moment, it realized its mistake.
Chen Tianlong suddenly executed a hanging reverse strike, piercing its backside with one direct sword thrust. Instantly, the large serpent frantically crawled, wildly spewing flames everywhere. Seconds later, the large serpent suddenly went limp, its whole head falling powerlessly to the ground.
"Boom!"
With a loud crash, the Dragon Serpent Beast was completely paralyzed.
It turned out the backside was the so-called weak spot.
After landing, Chen Tianlong wiped the sweat off his cheek, letting out a sigh of relief. Although the large serpent was paralyzed, it wasn’t dead; it continued to wriggle its body. Chen Tianlong saw this but had no intention to kill.
"Big serpent, we just want to obtain the millennium Reishi, and have no intention of killing you. Although your transformation is broken, it’s not fatal. I’ll spare your life for now; go back and train well. In time, you will recover gradually."
Chen Tianlong wasn’t a ruthless person; as long as his matters weren’t impinged upon, he wouldn’t be eager to kill. Just now, he saw that black spot beside the tree—being a descendant of the Divine Doctor, he knew it was a Reishi at a glance.
Thus, he generally understood the situation; this millennium Reishi must be Lin Wushuang’s mission objective.
Hearing Chen Tianlong’s words, the big serpent slowly crawled back to its cave, evidently understanding him.
"Wushuang, you can pick your Reishi now."
Seeing the serpent had returned to its cave and the danger was over, Chen Tianlong called out to Lin Wushuang in the distance.
"Ah? The ... the serpent?"
It was clear Lin Wushuang was quite afraid of creatures like centipedes and snakes.
She didn’t dare open her eyes to watch, so she nearly missed the entire scene just now, thinking Chen Tianlong was still fighting the Dragon Serpent Beast.
"Heh heh, the big serpent went home to sleep." Chen Tianlong couldn’t help laughing at Lin Wushuang’s dumbfounded look.
"Huh? Sleep?" Lin Wushuang was at a loss, filled with disbelief.
"Alright, quickly go pick your Reishi. If I pick it, it counts as mine." Chen Tianlong teased her.
"You dare!"
Lin Wushuang gave Chen Tianlong a glare, quickly ran over, and carefully picked the millennium Reishi growing on the tree trunk with her sword, then clutched it and ran away like a thief, afraid the serpent would pop its head out again.
In no time, Lin Wushuang had already distanced herself well away from the big tree and, after coming to Chen Tianlong’s side, finally felt relieved. Seeing Lin Wushuang’s frightened expression, Chen Tianlong’s eyes gleamed with intent to tease her further.
