Chapter 1159: The Next Mission
"Roar!"
Suddenly, Chen Tianlong let out a roar like a snake, then opened his hands wide and his mouth wide, intending to scare Lin Wushuang.
"Ah?"
"Ow!"
The two sounds almost simultaneously rang out, but the next moment, Chen Tianlong’s eyes turned black and Lin Wushuang looked up suddenly to see Chen Tianlong’s panda eye, unable to help bursting into laughter.
"Haha, Chen Tianlong, your eyes... hahaha."
Lin Wushuang laughed leaning to both sides at Chen Tianlong’s panda eye.
"..."
Chen Tianlong was speechless. He originally wanted to pretend to be a big snake and scare Lin Wushuang, but unexpectedly, he got punched by her. Truly unlucky.
However, after a while, Lin Wushuang started feeling sorry and hurriedly went over, rubbing and blowing at Chen Tianlong’s eyes. She even kissed his eye.
Seeing her worried expression, Chen Tianlong cheekily kissed the corner of her lips and immediately jumped away.
"You bad guy, I’m not talking to you, humph!"
Lin Wushuang was completely unprepared for the sudden sneak attack and complained.
"Hehe, it’s just a kiss, why so stingy... Or should I let you kiss back?"
Taking the chance, Chen Tianlong teased.
"Go to hell!"
Lin Wushuang rolled her eyes at Chen Tianlong in annoyance, but this was obviously a joke to Chen Tianlong.
At this moment, Hao Shuai was holding a wild ginseng, while Du Nong had some flowers, likely materials they needed for the task.
Liu Ting and Bing Ruxue also had some treasures of heaven and earth, but Chen Tianlong couldn’t quite tell what they were.
"Everyone, did you get the items?"
Chen Tianlong chose to confirm first, otherwise if someone says no later and just grabbed anything as a cover, it would be nonsense.
"Brother Chen Tianlong, we’ve all found ours."
Du Nong was respectful towards Chen Tianlong as the latter helped solve his father’s case before.
"Chen Tianlong, I’ve got mine too, hehe."
Bing Ruxue said with happiness, having finally completed her task.
Meanwhile, Liu Ting shook the items in her hand, signaling she was done too.
Chen Tianlong smiled faintly at Liu Ting without saying much, as if sharing an understanding.
"Good, that’s settled. We’ve found ours too."
Chen Tianlong looked at the sun. From the time they arrived, it seemed around nine or ten in the morning, and now it was nearly three or four in the afternoon: "Time’s getting on, let’s get ready for the next task."
"Yes, sure."
Du Nong replied, while Hao Shuai showed silent agreement.
Chen Tianlong noticed Hao Shuai’s actions but decided not to care since there was no need to engage with someone not bothered with you.
So, the four began preparing for their second task, but accepting a task wasn’t as simple as wishing to take one; they had to reach the mediating place.
On the edge of Dayless Heaven was a pitch-black spinning vortex which Chen Tianlong figured was likely the teleportation gate to another area.
"This should be the teleportation gate. Let’s go in, folks, and pack our task items to avoid losing them later."
Not knowing the teleportation method, Chen Tianlong worried if going through causes turbulence and shaking, it would be nonsense; pre-packing was safer.
Once the four were ready, they began entering the black portal.
Soon, they felt dizzy at first but realized they had arrived at a strange place, one of the trial venues, the Mysterious City.
To their surprise, they stood in a bustling ancient city, full of vehicles and people coming and going.
In that moment, everyone had a sense of transcending time.
However, they were aware everything here might be an illusion, merely for the task.
At this point, their minds started receiving the task instructions.
First, Chen Tianlong’s task was to eliminate the City Lord Divination God, Kang Taike. To achieve this, he’d rely on one of the four, Du Nong.
A regular user of divination skill, Du Nong was famously known as Divination God in Celestial Pill Sect.
Yet his father, Du Fei, wished for his focus on cultivation, so he kept a low profile. But from Fatty Xu, Chen Tianlong learned Du Nong was a born divination prodigy with strong foresight.
Secondly, Lin Wushuang’s task was to assist Chen Tianlong, and she couldn’t be happier.
She was more than willing; even if she couldn’t handle it, Chen Tianlong could manage, easing her worries.
"Chen Tianlong, Ruxue’s task and mine are both to assist you."
During the task instructions, they mentioned mutual task assistance, so Liu Ting happily shared after learning Bing Ruxue’s task.
"Wow, Liu Ting and Ruxue’s task matches mine; that’s wonderful." At Liu Ting’s words, Lin Wushuang almost jumped with joy.
Chen Tianlong chuckled bitterly, suspecting this task was deliberately planned by the Sect Leader. Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence?
Hao Shuai and Du Nong were momentarily stunned, not doing much; their tasks seemed irrelevant to them, needing personal resolution.
Actually, the Sect Leader specifically arranged this believing it was impressive for young girls to join. Having seen the difficulty of the first area, relaxing the requirements a bit seemed best.
The main task focused on stabilizing their Evil Qi; other aspects seemed less crucial, so easing up whenever possible was preferable.
This time, Lin Wushuang naturally could tell Chen Tianlong about the task details. Happily, she went over and said, "Chen Tianlong, it’s awesome to collaborate on this task."
"Hehe, indeed, it makes things easier. Once I complete it, it’s done for all of you." Chen Tianlong was also delighted, reducing pressure on the girls.
Chen Tianlong brought them primarily to use Evil Qi for stabilizing their strengths, especially Lin Wushuang, whose Fire Element inheritance was still settling.
Regarding Liu Ting, it was an excellent moment for breakthrough.
Following was Hao Shuai’s task, battling a top swordsman appearing in the second area.
As night gradually descended, the six arrived at Mysterious City, deciding to find a hotel for rest and nourishment.
Thus, they came to Foreigner Hotel, though Hao Shuai was unwilling to sit with Chen Tianlong, but since they were a team, isolation wasn’t viable, so he agreed to endure this once.
