The [High Mountain Knight] is a mecha entirely brown in color, holding a riding spear, standing at a height of 12.2 meters. Its most notable features are the oversized thrusters on its back and the jet propulsion units on its waist and sides of its legs.
Meanwhile, the [Ghostly Soul] chosen by Crock is a mecha only 7.5 meters tall, completely pitch black, with the only distinguishable parts being the two ring blades slanted at its waist.
Both mechas are meticulously crafted, non-mass-produced products made by civilian mecha companies.
The feeling of selecting from over 1800 mechas in the storage truly piqued Mu Fan's interest.
He recognized less than 1% of the mechas in there...
And according to the competition's instructions, as long as a mecha appears in the reserve pool, it means there is sufficient inventory on-site.
If considering the normal consumption of mechas and assigning a consumption number for each type, the number of mechas Dawn Academy prepared for this is probably astronomical.
This most powerful academy in the entire Federation constantly exhibits its profound strength.
While Mu Fan was lost in thought, he noticed Gu Yunyou holding a mug in one hand, leisurely sliding on the light screen, having no intention of watching the match at all.
"Are you choosing a mecha? The match is about to start, aren't you interested?"
Hearing Mu Fan's somewhat surprised voice, Gu Yunyou looked up, his eyes a bit dazed, and after a moment of recovery, he smiled, "Even if I'm interested, it's no use. My match result is already destined."
With a helpless shrug, that calm expression seemed to counter Mu Fan's interest with 'What's the use of being interested…'
"At least you have some self-awareness."
From behind the two of them, a red-haired figure sneered.
"I really don't know how the academy let you come up."
That figure was none other than one of the seven martial generals of the mecha... "Red Cat" Jes!
"Want some coffee? It's handmade by me; it should taste quite good." Gu Yunyou turned his head, showing a charming smile.
Directly blocking what Jes was going to say next.
Evidently, Jes's taunts had no effect on Gu Yunyou at all.
"Our strong High Mountain Knight has entered the field. This mecha has had outstanding achievements in a surface assault battle in a certain battlefield of the Fourth Star District. All its power comes from that riding spear; the pilot's operations will directly affect the penetrative power the mecha can achieve."
"Our agile [Ghostly Soul] mecha has entered the battlefield, wow, look at its steady steps, that confident gaze... I, Boogie Billy, seem to see a handsome and wise pilot."
Ghostly Soul's quick footwork crossed over, performing a nimble move with a backflip to enter the field.
The first segment of the commentary about the [High Mountain Knight] was quite appropriate, but after the second segment came out, the stage erupted in curses.
"Pah!"
"Finally know what 'talking nonsense with eyes wide open' means."
"This is the most brainless commentary I've ever seen in my life."
Boogie Billy, completely unaware, was brazenly puffing up his pectoral muscles, while the two judges beside him on the light screen were already full of black lines.
They wondered how such an oddball got into their panel of judges.
"Oh, sorry, I mistook the mecha for the one on field number 12, that [Sword Dragon] mecha is truly stable."
The faces of the two judges turned red from coughing.
"Anyway, both sides have now entered the field; our match officially begins!"
McCarthy, serving as the striker for Gonia War Academy's mecha team, is most adept with the [High Mountain Knight].
This mecha, with its unique wheel jet propulsion system, can achieve astonishing speed on the ground. With its heavy mass and sturdy riding spear, the High Mountain Knight often gains the advantage by striking first on the battlefield.
Many mechas are likely to be shattered and destroyed in the first clash with the High Mountain Knight.
On the battlefield's front, a High Mountain Knight launching an assault from the side can terrifyingly pierce through several siege tanks with a single jab from its spear.
However, the inherent weaknesses of this mecha are quite obvious, mainly its poor turning capability, which places high demands on the pilot, requiring an accurate sense of speed. The speed of maneuvering the riding spear directly affects the speed of spinning it.
As soon as the two mechas entered the field, the High Mountain Knight had already locked its sight on the Ghostly Soul mecha. The main thruster on its back roared powerfully, sending a wave of air exploding outward.
A straight white airflow burst forth.
Using its intense thrust, the [High Mountain Knight] astonishingly broke the sound barrier by force, despite the terrifying concussion force.
Advanced pilot skill — Sonic Boom Shock!
This super short-range supersonic result is shocking.
The [High Mountain Knight] compressed the air into a thin yet extremely dense layer, akin to a massive, flat-pushing wall of air.
One moment the [Ghostly Soul] mecha was standing still; the next moment it soared backward over 200 meters.
The ring blades were spinning furiously, the edges already showing a reddish hue from high-speed friction.
On Gonia's side, cheers erupted instantly, with many standing up and clapping wildly.
However, pilot McCarthy did not relax, as this situation felt off.
A normal sonic boom shock should overwhelmingly destroy anything in front, but today, it seemed the [Ghostly Soul] nullified the attack using its weapons.
"Crock just used... rotational block!"
Suddenly a student behind Mu Fan exclaimed excitedly.
The [Ghostly Soul]'s refraction armor inherently has a superb shock absorption effect, and the dual ghostly ring blades already demand inhuman skill from the pilot.
In that instant, McCarthy controlled the mecha to jump backward, hoping to avoid any potential counterattack.
However, at that moment, Crock controlling the [Ghostly Soul] finally became proactive.
Just as the High Mountain Knight began its backward step, shifting its center of gravity but not yet settled, the left ghostly ring blade of [Ghostly Soul] silently carved a trajectory through the air, precisely hitting the mecha, firmly attaching itself.
Then the unexpected action, which surprised many into standing, occurred.
The [Ghostly Soul] raised its left arm, the unoccupied hand remotely targeting the constantly repositioning [High Mountain Knight], and a black light appeared at the mecha's feet.
The mecha's silhouette abruptly became erratic and unstable.
"Hmph, child's play!" said McCarthy as he looked at the opponent, confident that once the knight mecha built up its charge again, all mechas would be incapable of resisting the forced retreat.
Yet the [Ghostly Soul] mecha unexpectedly charged diagonally at its opponent.
Just as the fierce tip of the riding spear was on the verge of piercing it, within everyone's retinas, the black Ghostly Soul mecha impressively drew an angled trajectory.
The two crossed paths instantly.
"Advanced Evasion — Recoil Word!"
"The hand speed required for such an instant maneuver must be at least 450 APM!"
"No, Crock just had additional operations."
"My god, he just activated the absorption feature of the ghostly ring blades."
Amidst a few students' exclamations, the ghostly ring blade mech seemed tethered on a spring, pausing briefly at its peak, and then sharply rebounding!
The [High Mountain Knight], just realizing something was amiss, tried to turn its head immediately, but was met with a heavy slash, the back of its head being half-cut open!
As the riding spear reversed for a stab, the Ghostly Soul mecha again bounced away like a persistent shadow, and then rebounded.
Bang!
With another slash, the High Mountain Knight's face armor was instantly split open!
The eerie and menacing attack, uncontrollably accompanied by a violent surge.
The spectators aware of the situation watched in awe, marveling at the precision and astonishing hand speed of the pilot's maneuvers.
Moments later, the small, black Ghostly Soul mecha passed through its opponent with blades in both hands and stopped in the center of the arena.
Spectators clearly saw two black lights ultimately dismembering the High Mountain Knight's arms.
The heavy riding spear fell to the ground alongside the arms, producing a dull sound.
"Victory for the first match goes to Dingchuan Academy."
"Please prepare in advance for the second match, Hemingway from Gonia War Academy... Mu Fan from Dingchuan Academy!"
Enjoyably watching the match, amazed at Ghost Tiger Crock's terrifying control skills, Mu Fan was momentarily stunned.
Pointing at his own nose, he looked towards Bach in the distance.
"I'm in the second match?"
But I haven't even had the chance to select a mecha yet!
