Chapter 1033 - 972: Is Surrender a Trick?
Dark Tide Sea, Da Fei’s fleet slowly advanced amid the stormy waves. What was bound to come finally arrived. In front of the Blood Eagle appeared a large number of red dots again, another Sea Ray Knight Order, numbering close to a thousand, and several heroes leading them. It seemed all the regular corps had gathered.
Such a vast number is impossible for players to confront by force, not to mention that Da Fei no longer has the capacity to initiate a large battle. At times like this, one can only trust in the mission progression and believe the system won’t screw the players over. So Da Fei immediately raised the white flags prepared long ago on all the ships. As for Selvia’s music, it definitely shouldn’t provoke them this time, as the other side clearly holds a grudge against the Light Church.
Closer now, Da Fei’s vision saw the temple guardian corps sweeping in like tidal waves on the sea’s surface. Then, regardless of whether the other side could hear, Catherine kept raising a loudspeaker, shouting incessantly in the raging wind, "We are here to pay ransom to Pirate Rock!!"
Will it work? Will it really work? Da Fei felt extremely tense and even fearful in his heart.
Now, the opponent was within range of casting the Tsunami Technique earlier; the crucial moment had arrived. To show sincerity, Da Fei waved again, lowering the fleet’s sails, standing still. The implication was, I’m not going to crash into you guys, okay?
Just then, a dignified female voice came from afar: "Are you the intruder who defeated the Temple Guardian Army?"
Da Fei let out a big sigh of relief. If there’s dialogue, then there’s something to discuss. What he feared most was the kind of wild monster corps that would engage without a word. Since they could initiate the dialogue from such a distance, of course, they could hear his response.
Da Fei quickly raised his loudspeaker and shouted, "That was a misunderstanding! We’re here to pay ransom!"
Catherine also raised her loudspeaker and reiterated.
The other party immediately responded, "Then disarm yourselves and surrender!"
—System Prompt: The Dark Tide Guard Corps demands you surrender and disarm. Do you accept? (Warning: Once disarmed, you will be unable to command your troops. Please consider carefully!)
Da Fei’s heart skipped wildly. What the heck! Disarm!
Surrender comes in two forms: normal surrender allows the surrendered side to retain all their troops, known as a friendly duel surrender. Lords players can exchange after a trial, resurrect troops, and resume competition after resting.
The other form is disarmament surrender, akin to handing over troops for detainment. Although troop ownership remains with the surrendered, they can’t command in battle, nor can the enemy. The captor’s return depends entirely on their willingness. Therefore, disarmament surrender is the most effective deterrent against player "fake surrenders."
Though Da Fei was already mentally prepared to surrender, it was for a regular surrender. A regular surrender would already show sincerity and an absence of hostility. Such a request for disarmament far exceeded his tolerance. Not to mention, if the Chamber lowers reputation by tens of thousands again, he couldn’t afford the loss.
At that moment, Xiluo urgently said, "Boss! They’ve realized your power. Give them some face, or you’ll truly become invaders, then it’s a deadly enemy!"
What an irritating surrender faction, doesn’t it make you want to cry?
Da Fei let out a long sigh, finding the situation had developed to this point was purely helpless, ultimately due to his own prowess. Anyway, he was prepared to surrender, so surrender it was!
Then, Elina shouted sternly, "Master, absolutely not! Once disarmed, your life and death will hang on the opponent’s whim! I endured over a hundred years of torture in prisons—none of my surrendered troops survived. It’s a path to slaughter! As long as we’re armed, even in captivity, the enemy won’t dare do as they please!"
Da Fei was suddenly startled. Absolutely correct!
Because this is a game, I trust the system won’t screw players, so I can surrender without too much apprehension. But if it weren’t a game, or if the opponent were players who could kill without consequence, I definitely wouldn’t accept disarmament!
Elina’s protest clearly triggered a plot event! Meaning the plot’s direction depends entirely on how I handle this surrender? Realizing this, Da Fei became highly attentive.
While Da Fei pondered intensely, the opponent began urging, "Intruder, you have half a minute, or we’ll annihilate you!"
—System Prompt: The Dark Tide Guard Corps demands you surrender and disarm. Do you accept? You have 29 seconds to decide!
Damn it, a countdown!
Xiluo was even more anxious verbally, "Master, your troops are rare elites! Don’t let them be lost here in vain!"
Elina said solemnly, "Master, because your troops are rare elites, we mustn’t surrender! We still have the strength to fight!"
What the hell! Both of them make valid points! But Xiluo, from the first day he met me, kneeled immediately, showing himself as a spineless surrender faction. Judging from his current performance, he likely kneels to everyone and can’t be entirely trusted. Following Elina’s advice would risk full-scale war with the opponent! That would mean I’m doomed!
Da Fei quickly surveyed the deputy officers around him. "What do you all think?"
At that moment, everyone looked serious, silent. Even Catherine, directly involved, furrowed her brows but said nothing. As expected, in such a decision, apart from special NPCs like Elina, regular NPCs wouldn’t give players suggestions; everything relied on the player’s decision.
At that instant, Da Fei suddenly recalled the Divine Beast Nightmare he encountered in the Divine Domain Space. At that time, the opponent offered various achievement rewards to induce a ceasefire. In the end, the gains far exceeded the temptation, successfully preserving the Thunder Angel.
Then he remembered Saisu in the Dragon Tomb, who gave him two surrender opportunities, both rejected. Ultimately, the rewards exceeded expectations considerably.
The pattern suggests that if system NPCs offer surrender, it’s a trap! If I resist to the end, however—
Right then, Da Fei recalled a Legion Teleportation Scroll sponsored by the Elf Kingdom Staff Department, originally intended for quickly retrieving Sea God Sacrifices needed by the Leviathan. If something went wrong now, it wouldn’t mean total defeat. At least the Angel Army and Sea Demon Army could be saved!
The only uncertain thing was the ships; they represented my entire fortune! If lost, I’d basically—
Hmm? Basically what? Go to the rooftop? Damn it! Even if I lost everything and had one commander, my numerous part-time God-level Master skill accounts would probably sell for billions, in US Dollar! I’ve already achieved more than most could dream of. Even if I sold my main account, playing games with Little Fang would still be heavenly fun. What do I need to worry about?
Okay! I shouldn’t consider embarrassing, painful strategies. I don’t trust Xiluo, the spineless surrender faction—I trust Elina, my wife!
Da Fei made up his mind and asked Xiluo, "Does everyone coming to the Dark Tide Temple have to disarm and surrender?"
Xiluo shook his head vigorously, "I haven’t heard of that, Boss. It’s probably an exception for you."
Of course, that’s just their fear of me manifesting! Which means more likely a trap!
Da Fei said with a heavy expression, "I will not disarm. All fleet prepare for battle! Load the Blazing Angel Corps with crystal bombs! Prepare for combat!"
—System Prompt: You refused the opponent’s demand to disarm and surrender!
At that moment, from the front came an angry shout, "Intruder, do you want to fight to the end? You’re courting death!"
Da Fei raised his loudspeaker and replied, "I’ve never heard of needing to surrender to pay ransom. If you don’t follow the rules, I’ll fight you to the end!"
At that moment, laughter echoed through the sky, and a vast cloud suddenly dispersed, sunlight piercing through, lighting up the sea with golden brilliance!
What an astonishing aura, is the true master here? That’s right, in Crab Sea, in Siren Territory, the leader emerged when I fought them. Here should also be personally greeted by the authority!
At that moment, Da Fei knew he had bet correctly, and couldn’t help but laugh aloud! (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendations, monthly votes, your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please go to m.qidian.com to read.)
