Chapter 1200: Section 1201: Sparkling Green Tree
The reason the Lord of the Flameless could not sense his own True Spirit was that it was now imprisoned.
The moment after the Demon God’s avatar died completely, Greerwu heard a rustling sound next to his ear. On closer examination, he saw a large number of green Patterns emerging around the figure with golden hair.
These Patterns moved like living fairies, pulsating in a regular rhythm.
Even though Greerwu did not understand the meaning of these green Patterns, that did not prevent him from yearning for and venerating them.
The Patterns contained strange transmutations, and once they appeared, like the bouncing notes on a musical score, they combined into a band of light that glowed with a radiant green.
The band of light turned into a chain of green luminescence; with a flash of light, it restrained the stirring colossal dark shadow—the True Spirit of the Demon God—right on the spot.
From a distance, it looked like a huge and void black mountain, wrapped layer by layer by the green glowing chains.
Even the cold eye pupil at the center of the dark shadow was obscured and bound by the tiny green Patterns.
This binding not only limited the range of the Demon God’s True Spirit but also blocked all external channels of energy. This meant that the Lord of the Flameless from the Abyssal Depths could not summon back his True Spirit.
After completing all this, Greerwu saw the figure with golden hair suddenly begin to walk step by step towards the “black mountain.”
His steps were slow and graceful, as though he was walking leisurely in a garden.
Yet in the hearts of Greerwu and Popota, they were somewhat terrified. They had already faintly perceived the intention of the golden-haired figure… Just thinking about it, they were filled with a mix of dread and excitement as if they were about to witness history.
When the figure with golden hair arrived in front of the “black mountain,” the dim green, icy pupil rolled around and stared straight at him.
“Destruction of the True Spirit will bring unimaginable aftermaths to the collapse of the Demon God,” a mental fluctuation came from the green pupil, which was the remaining fragment of consciousness from the Lord of the Flameless.
As before, there was no response.
However, a burst of laughter suddenly escaped from the mouth of the figure with golden hair.
The laugh contained no emotion, but it made the dim green eye feel a sense of mockery.
“The aftermath will even affect that human… the human named Angel. Are you really going to do this?”
Before the mental fluctuation could be carried away by the wind, the “human” in front of him stretched out his hand, which was surrounded by a shining, strange green Pattern.
The residual consciousness of the Lord of the Flameless, upon sensing that Pattern, was immediately filled with a state of fear.
He tried desperately to use words to stop the figure with golden hair, but to an existence that doesn’t communicate with you and one that you’re not even sure can communicate, such attempts were useless.
Without any obstruction, without any sound, and without stirring any ripples, the hand of the figure with golden hair pierced straight into the dark shadow—
In an instant, the weather changed dramatically!
The dead and dark sky was swept up by a hurricane filled with a scorching breath! The earth suddenly shook, magma burst forth from the ground, turning into Fire Tornadoes that shot straight into the sky!
“You…” The vast green eye lost its coldness and was instead replaced by disbelief, panic, and confusion.
The figure with golden hair slowly withdrew his hand, but by that time the green Pattern was no longer wrapped around his hand; instead, it lay on the wound within the dark shadow.
Everything seemed unchanged, yet only the True Spirit of the Demon God knew that the force of his True Spirit was being rapidly transmuted and drained by the Pattern at the wound. At this rate, within just a few seconds, his nearly sea-engulfing and land-sinking True Spirit Force would be completely neutralized!
Unable to return to the Abyssal Depths, unable to sense his true form, with the True Spirit Force continually leaking—only then did the True Spirit of the Demon God realize, “I may be about to dissipate,” with an enlightenment of doom.
The natural phenomena around him seemed to signify something, too.
Feeling the transformation within him, the True Spirit of the Demon God stared directly at the figure with golden hair: “It seems that my initial choice was wrong, I shouldn’t have tried to test your depth…”
“Can you tell me who you are?”
This was the third time the True Spirit of the Demon God had asked.
Unfortunately, he still received no response.
However, when the deathly stillness spread to the green pupil, the pupil began to dilate lifelessly, a breeze blew by, and the figure in front of him, his brilliant golden hair, was suddenly lifted at one corner.
In the final moment, he dimly saw his face.
“It’s…” He wanted to say something, but before his words could finish, his pupils completely scattered.
Whatever he saw and whatever he wanted to say were extinguished in the darkness.
And the broken consciousness of the Lord of the Flameless within the True Spirit of the Demon God, under the overwhelming force of the green Patterns, also faded completely. All answers, blown away by the wind, became unknown to anyone.
When the faint green pupils slowly closed, both Greerwu and Popota revealed expressions of shock.
The True Spirit of the Demon God had fallen.
This was probably the first True Spirit of a Demon God to fall in the Abyss in thousands of years. It also meant that for countless years to come, the Lord of the Flameless would face the risk of a lack of True Spirit, and it was even possible that the Lord of the Flameless would be completely erased from the position of the Demon God. For a Demon God without a True Spirit, strength was at least halved, which presented a prime opportunity for those coveting power.
“Shopkeeper, how formidable,” Greerwu said after a long time, a multitude of emotions wanting to burst out, but in the end, Greerwu only managed to utter these words.
For Greerwu, it didn’t know who the golden Phantom Shadow was, but it knew who had caused the Phantom Shadow to appear—the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper’s ability to awaken the Demon had already coated his image in Greerwu’s heart with a mystical aura. Now, the golden Phantom Shadow that had emerged from the shopkeeper’s body had even crushed the Demon’s Avatar and True Spirit in an overwhelming fashion.
This only reinforced Greerwu’s perception of the shopkeeper’s mystery, and its eyes were filled with admiration when it looked at the shopkeeper.
As for Popota, after being stunned for a long time, its ugly face showed a sense of relief.
Feeling its body progressively collapsing from the inside, Popota now lacked the will to investigate further, and merely sighed deeply toward the deathly still sky.
After the True Spirit of the Demon God had fallen, both Greerwu and Popota thought the matter was over.
However, perhaps this moment marked the beginning of everything.
The Pattern that had previously landed on the shadow suddenly vanished without a trace, followed by a faint green glow that diffused from within the shadow.
It was as if a seed had been sown, the shadow the soil, and a tree emitting a faint green glow grew from the wound!
This glowing green tree swiftly grew from a sapling into a towering giant.
The trunk was tall, branches twisted, and countless sparkling points of light on the trunk were like the stars of the whole universe!
Dazzling and blinding!
From afar, it looked like the Tree of Life described by fairies, filled with surging vitality and endless energy.
Greerwu, stunned, looked at the towering tree radiating with a showy green light, feeling a shock that couldn’t be expressed in words. It could sense a terrifying power stored within the tree.
This power made it both desire and somewhat fear.
…
“This is… True Spirit Force?!” In the distant Darklands, the person wearing the Totem Mask exclaimed.
His voice was filled with shock, fear, and a hint of barely concealed excitement.
How vast might the True Spirit Force possessed by a Great Demon God be? If energy particles could be likened to an ocean, perhaps this ocean would be boundless!
A Demon God’s True Spirit had fallen; such immense energy could not simply dissipate naturally. If one could obtain this energy, was there a chance for the soon-to-collapse continent to experience rebirth and growth?
However, the Totem Mask quickly sighed deeply, realizing that to obtain this energy, one would have to confront that terrifying individual.
The palms resting on either side of his throne were still sweating profusely, a reaction caused by the fear he felt upon watching that person annihilate the True Spirit of the Demon God.
To this moment, his back was still covered in cold sweat.
To annihilate the True Spirit of a Great Demon God was something not even The Unparalleled Great Demon God could accomplish, yet that person had done it.
Faced with such a terrifying being, even if the Totem Mask harbored covetous thoughts, he dared not make any moves.
He could only tremble, gazing from the faraway Darklands at the Sparkling Green Tree that seemed capable of illuminating countless worlds!
…
The giant tree continued to grow ceaselessly, and as it grew, the shadow on the other side began to shrink at a visible rate.
The giant tree, composed of True Spirit Force, stopped increasing in size after reaching a certain stage.
But a beam of green light shot up from the ground, climbing indefinitely.
Until it broke through the deathly still sky and entered the Void, where the green light transformed into a gigantic tree phantom, seemingly large enough to cover the entire continent.
Although it was just a phantom.
It nonetheless startled the entire Abyss!
