Chapter 1199: Section 1200 Absolute Overwhelming
“`
Panic? The Lord of the Flameless wondered why such an absurd and ridiculous emotion had surged within Them.
But the intense throbbing between Their brows, along with the suddenly burgeoning terror in Their heart, seemed to herald the ominous premonition of some impending disaster.
“No matter who he is, he has undoubtedly come from a distant time and space,” The Lord of the Flameless forcefully suppressed the panic within and kept reassuring Themselves: “And it’s not his true body that has come, just a strand of consciousness.”
“Even if his true body is formidable, the energy carried by the descending consciousness can’t possibly be much! So, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.”
The Lord of the Flameless said this, but “his” arrival caused even time and space to come to a standstill.
And this suspension had somehow spread to Them as well.
——This Avatar had yet to form a complete Law Domain, so being unable to break free from the “time freeze” under these circumstances almost made sense. However, Their true Demon God Soul had descended directly from the Abyssal Depth, and yet even the Demon God True Spirit couldn’t move in this moment, which was truly inconceivable.
The Lord of the Flameless dared not delve deeper into this thought, for it would only intensify Their already panicked state.
“It’s just this moment, after all. The rules of Origin can’t be affected without eliciting the attention of the world’s will,” The Lord of the Flameless comforted Themselves. But They had forgotten that relying on the world’s will during a battle with an enemy was, in itself, a sign of weakness.
Just as The Lord of the Flameless had thought, the sensation of time being halted lasted only for an instant.
After the blink of an eye, the sounds of the wind continued to howl, and sparks and phosphorescence kept moving with the wind.
As The Lord of the Flameless breathed a sigh of relief, the Phantom Shadow opposite Them suddenly sprang into action at that very moment.
The Lord of the Flameless hesitated for a moment before responding. Their hesitation was actually a reflection on the previous bout of panic and indecisiveness about whether to recall the true Demon God Soul back to the Abyssal Depth immediately.
In the end, They chose not to summon back the true Soul, instead opting to test the attacking strength of the golden-haired Phantom Shadow.
If their manner of attack wasn’t much different from before, it might actually be worth staying to fight it out.
While The Lord of the Flameless was thinking this, the golden-haired figure suddenly disappeared from sight, as if they had instantly moved, appearing before The Lord of the Flameless without any warning!
“Damn it!” The Lord of the Flameless cursed inwardly!
They immediately unleashed the Flameless Fire, and strange fiery patterns emerged around Them, clashing against the golden-haired figure.
The enemy was too fast. There was no time to mount a defense, so The Lord of the Flameless decided to go on the offensive!
The Lord of the Flameless thought that if the opponent didn’t dodge, it would merely result in mutual damage, and if they dodged Their attack, the opportunity they had created would vanish.
They had a good plan, but when They launched Their fiery patterned attack, They found that it didn’t connect with anything, as if striking the air.
As They pondered in confusion, Their peripheral vision caught sight of the figure passing right through Them.
Pass through Them?
The Lord of the Flameless was stunned for a moment, not yet comprehending what had happened, when suddenly a thick red mist flashed before Their eyes.
In the moment the red mist appeared, the wind’s howl softened, time seemed to slow, and everything fell eerily silent. Yet The Lord of the Flameless’s thoughts were unaffected; Their senses were even more acute. They could hear the roaring of the Gale, the sounds of Greerwu’s intestines moving, the noise of Popota’s flesh collapsing… All sounds, scents, and sights were in high definition.
When Their attention returned to the red mist before Their eyes, They finally understood its true nature.
It was an optical illusion caused by blood spurting out.
Blood? Why would there be blood?
Something clicked in The Lord of the Flameless’s mind, and They looked down to see Their porcelain white chest now bore a massive, gaping wound, clear through from front to back, hollow inside.
The heart that resided there was utterly gone.
As The Lord of the Flameless’s realization dawned, the delayed agony rushed into Their thoughts, and the decelerated time also returned to normal.
“So fast!” So fast that The Lord of the Flameless experienced a deceptive slowness of time, so fast that before They could react, everything was already over.
They had thought the opponent would use a Green Pattern, but that did not happen.
Brute simplicity, terrifying explosive force, breaking through the physical body’s defenses in an instant!
And before The Lord of the Flameless could even sense it, the fight was over.
The source of energy for this Avatar was the heart. With the heart vanished, this Demon God Avatar would completely cease to function.
The Lord of the Flameless’s eyes transitioned from chaos to clarity, from panic to calm, and finally, slowly turned vicious.
Since the Avatar was now useless, They decided to make one last retaliation while the brain was still in control—
Using Their body as a medium, Their bloodline as fuel, to detonate all remaining flesh and energy!
The Lord of the Flameless made such a resolute decision, not with the expectation of severely injuring the golden-haired Phantom Shadow; They knew it was improbable. The explosion was merely to conceal the information of Their own bloodline.
However, before The Lord of the Flameless could act, They felt a tingling at the back of Their skull.
Before They could comprehend where this numbness came from, Their consciousness plunged into an endless void of darkness.
“`
Lord of the Flameless had no idea what had happened, but Greerwu had seen everything clearly. The figure with long golden hair, after passing through Lord of the Flameless’s body, slowly reached out a hand, and aimed the palm at Lord of the Flameless’s head.
A thunderous boom resounded.
Greerwu’s eyes were stabbed by the intense white light, causing them to involuntarily close. When Greerwu opened his eyes again, Lord of the Flameless’s head had already been blown to pieces.
Streams of red and white fluid, as well as shattered bone fragments, burst forth.
In the backlight, the headless corpse of the Demon God avatar, knees buckling, fell with a thud, slowly kneeling; blood gushing like a fountain, then it heavily crashed to the ground.
“The Demon God avatar… just died like that?”
“Just like that, in one or two moves, or should I say, with a single strike, He was left with no room to turn around?!”
Greerwu was stunned.
The despair from one second ago, yet in the blink of an eye, the situation had reversed again. And this time, it was an absolute crushing!
It was so effortless it didn’t seem like a battle against a Demon God avatar, but more like squashing an insignificant ant.
Greerwu looked at the golden-haired figure in the distance against the light, with a trace of terror in his eyes, but also with longing and a deep, heartfelt reverence.
This scene was like a deep steel stamp in Greerwu’s mind, never to be erased.
…
When the Demon God avatar fell, a sudden roar filled with rage erupted in the dark void of the Abyssal Depth.
And the source of the roar was Lord of the Flameless’s true body.
With Lord of the Flameless’s roar, countless followers in different worlds knelt before the emblem of the Flameless Fire, trembling.
His roar once again drew many gazes, some even from ancient entities.
They were puzzled, what had happened to the Lord of the Flameless?
Moments before, He was radiating joy, spreading the gospel to His disciples. But in the blink of an eye, He erupted in thundering rage?
For the Demon Gods, their emotions had been worn down by the endless passage of time. Naturally, they were curious about Lord of the Flameless’s sudden joy and fury.
At that moment, in the library where the Cruel Scholar resided, a conversation was stirring due to the emotional shift of Lord of the Flameless.
“The Mirror of Desires told me that you might know something,” a voice reached the ears of the Cruel Scholar. The voice was exceedingly gentle, like a velvet feather touching the heart, inexplicably causing itchiness.
“I was wondering who would come to find me at this time; it turns out to be the Demon God of Ominous Evil Play.” The Demon God of Ominous Evil Play, also known as the “Ominous Evil Play,” is most adept at manipulating desires and human hearts.
The Cruel Scholar responded without looking up, knowing that the other party was just transmitting their voice through the void, actually very distant from Himself.
After a deep, heart-stirring chuckle, the Ominous Evil Play continued, “What happened with Lord of the Flameless, you should know, shouldn’t you?”
The Cruel Scholar’s gaze turned back, glanced at the Abyssal Depth where Lord of the Flameless resided, a hint of deep contemplation in His eyes.
Lord of the Flameless’s transition from joy to anger was very brief.
Previously, the Cruel Scholar had thought that it was possible Lord of the Flameless had defeated that being from beyond space and time and gained some benefit from it. But now it seemed He might have guessed wrong?
“Since the Mirror of Desires told you to come to me, then why not directly ask, about what’s happened to Lord of the Flameless?” the Cruel Scholar counterquestioned.
“It can’t sense it; it says something strange energy has blocked it,” the Ominous Evil Play’s tone was filled with intense curiosity: “To effortlessly mask the Mirror of Desires’s senses, I’m very curious about what’s happened to Lord of the Flameless.”
After a long silence, the Cruel Scholar spoke faintly: “As for the specifics, I don’t know. However, I believe it won’t be long before your Mirror of Desires will tell you the answer.”
The Cruel Scholar currently couldn’t transmit His will into the artifacts, so what He said was not wrong, He genuinely didn’t know the specifics.
“Right, since you’ve come, I’d also like to ask a question, you see this coordinate, should be one of the outermost layers of the Abyss, right?”
While the Cruel Scholar and the Ominous Evil Play were conversing, Lord of the Flameless, who was under the gaze of ancient eyes, slowly calmed down from His rage.
Since the avatar was dead, it also meant that the path to Asgard was sealed again.
But that was not important; they could just wait until that terrifying being left and then search for Aoluxiya’s soul. What He needed to do now was to immediately bring back the Demon God True Spirit!
After all, the True Spirit was His Origin, and recalling it shouldn’t be hard. However, there might be some losses under that person’s hindrance.
Losses are losses, but it’s better than being extinguished.
However, just when He tried to recall the Demon God True Spirit, He suddenly found, He couldn’t sense where the True Spirit was anymore?!
After a while, a torrent of emotions forged from the Abyssal Depth swept out.
—Rage, terror, regret, and… despair!
