Thinking this way, the hunters skilled at interpreting tasks all longed to receive such a mission.
But Almi was the quickest of them all.
He quickly secured the task.
"Congratulations, you’ve received a good task. From the latest intelligence we have, Wen Xiangge is already a celebrity in the Bunker, but he hasn’t realized his own talent yet and often mingles with the lower levels."
The guide from the Commerce Association was a person with one head but wearing three masks.
"Go this way, through this door, you’ll head to the Bunker. Remember, your opportunity is precious, and we can only secure a few slots to infiltrate the Bunker at a time. Don’t raise any alarms, and make sure to cleanly and swiftly resolve the target."
"If you can resolve the target, your Tower Climbing level will increase, and as a result, you’ll unlock more qualifications to assassinate important figures within the Bunker."
"Trust me, any one of them could let you live a good life in Hunter City."
Almi nodded, but had his own thoughts internally.
...
...
Bunker.
After Wen Xishu finished contacting the old principal Albert, both realized that it was very likely the era of considering the Bunker as a tower to climb had arrived.
The Five Elders Luo Feng, William Gordon, Matthew Jones, Albert, the Bunker Security Bureau, and the Bunker Civil Affairs Bureau quickly began formulating policies.
However, plans are always outpaced by changes.
Just when they thought they could prevent it, change had already arrived at the Bunker.
At this moment, Albert and the others were quite troubled as well.
"We know nothing about the intruders, and our own Bunker has many law and order problems."
"Do you know how many people die in the lower levels every day?"
"Climbing the Slaughter Tower and the Deceit Tower also results in deaths. Even though there is a growing enthusiasm for climbing the tower and more strategies, the death rate has only decreased, not disappeared."
"Every day, children are born in the Bunker, and people die as well. There are too many causes of death, which naturally exacerbates the difficulty in identifying intruders."
"In fact, we’re not even sure if intruders have been among us for a long time!"
Albert said these things at the meeting to urge everyone to pay attention and perfect the census and statistics system soon.
And as the meeting was taking place, the Bunker already welcomed an intruder.
Almi’s outfit wasn’t much different from the Bunker People; essentially, he was not wearing much at all. His upper body was bare, revealing his muscles, and he wore a pair of grayish trousers.
"Wow, brother, you must be an expert at climbing the Slaughter Tower."
Almi had appeared here suddenly. The kind where in the blink of an eye, an extra person was right before you as if he had teleported.
But interestingly, the Bunker People seemed accustomed to this and weren’t surprised.
"Looks like you gained a lot. By the way, buddy, are you religious? You’re a part of our Xishu Divine Teaching, right?"
Xishu Divine Teaching?
Almi looked at the stranger in front of him who was full of friendliness and instantly caught the keyword.
An outstanding hunter should remember every word in the task description.
Xishu Divine Teaching, isn’t this the religious organization mentioned in the mission?
It’s like wanting to sleep and someone hands you a pillow.
This mission is not difficult at all.
Almi immediately smiled:
"I haven’t joined the sect yet."
"Oh, that’s a real pity. Looks like you just came back from the Slaughter Tower? Or was it the Deceit Tower?"
What the hell?
Almi didn’t understand at all. But it didn’t matter, the other person had already given him the answer, hadn’t they?
"I came back from the Deceit Tower."
"Fantastic, a muscular guy like you, climbing the Deceit Tower, I think you’d be great for our Xishu Divine Teaching. Would you be willing to listen to the teachings of my Lord?" The devoted and friendly sect member of the Xishu Divine Teaching invited.
Almi said:
"I am willing to join the sect. Can I meet Wen Xiangge?"
"Ah? You know the Great Elder, seems like you already have some understanding of our sect, haha, don’t worry, the Great Elder is down-to-earth and often preaches in the lower levels. Come on, I’ll take you there! The Great Elder would surely be delighted to have an outstanding warrior like you join!"
After all, the Bunker People didn’t know it could be infiltrated, at least until now, nothing similar to the Great Devour had happened.
So they had no vigilance; to them, those willing to climb the tower were their bread and butter. Naturally, they were very friendly to these fearless tower climbers.
Almi only felt that the mission was too smooth.
The Bunker passage mission was simply a welfare!
Soon, Almi took the elevator to the second level of the Bunker.
Honestly speaking, Almi was deeply shocked inside, but he showed nothing on the surface to avoid exposing himself.
But internally, the turmoil was immense.
Just the first level was comparable in size to Hunter City... does it hold hundreds of thousands? A million?
But now, there is even a second level? And it seems there is a third, fourth level?
The people here all seemed friendly; where does their survival resources come from?
And the ceiling above, is it a simulated sky?
The Bunker, is it a fortress underground?
Almi’s heart was incredibly shaken.
Feeling that this is the ideal type of refuge.
Could it be, this is an extremely massive underground city, far surpassing Hunter City in scale?
Almi was endlessly astonished.
And next, he saw an even more stunning scene.
Wen Xiangge sat on a high platform, below was a colossal ring of thousands of people sitting around in concentric circles, all filled with people.
Wen Xiangge was up there, talking about the ’Way’.
The way of breaking the siege in Wen Xishu.
"My Lord faced bizarre rules while everyone was panicking, he was exceptionally calm. He quickly arranged for us to start observing. At that time, my Lord seemed like God... no, what is God? My Lord seemed to see through everything and was already confident in overcoming the bizarre!"
Thunderous applause erupted.
Wen Xiangge smiled, the light shining on his face made him look like a saint.
Soon, someone walked up to the platform and whispered a few words into Wen Xiangge’s ear.
Wen Xiangge immediately nodded:
"It seems today we welcome a new family member."
"What’s your name?"
Wen Xiangge stood up quickly and walked down the platform, appearing quite joyful.
He headed for Almi.
At this moment, Almi actually felt a little flattered.
Almi had never seen such a person, and in Hunter City, no such benevolent saint-like person had ever appeared.
This person surely had a high status in the Bunker, right?
Otherwise, why would so many people sit around him on the ground?
Yet this person walked barefoot to welcome him.
Almi felt a bit dazed.
He underestimated Wen Xiangge.
Anyone who can perfect something has extraordinary ability.
He didn’t believe in manipulation, but seeing thousands of people sit around Wen Xiangge, that shocking scene made him think of God.
And Wen Xiangge indeed had the appearance of a "reverent one."
He walked quickly down and held both of Almi’s hands.
"You must be very tired after climbing the Deceit Tower. Thank you for your hard work, child. You seem very young, as young as our Hierarch. You will achieve great things in the future."
"Come, walk with me, come to this high platform."
"Everyone, let’s cheer together, the Bunker has a new hero! Look at this kid! How proud he makes us! At such a young age, already fighting in the Deceit Tower!"
"With such young people in the Bunker, it will surely enjoy eternal peace!"
Standing below the high platform, watching Wen Xiangge preach was a marvel.
Standing on the high platform, seeing the masses of the Bunker from Wen Xiangge’s perspective was even more astonishing.
Tens of thousands of people sitting around, each with a face brimming with harmony, happiness, excitement.
All of this was for him.
At this moment, Almi felt a gigantic miracle surrounding him.
He seemed to experience a kind of illumination by holy light.
In that cold, transactional place of Hunter City, he had never had such an experience.
Wen Xiangge hugged Almi:
"Child, may my Lord grant you luck, making you invincible in the Deceit Tower."
"Would you like to join the Xishu Divine Teaching?"
