Chapter 1129: Cheng Qianjin Returns
This time Thunder Wolf’s arrival wasn’t for Chen Tianlong. He’d heard that the Five Elements Sect had already sent someone, planning to use the trial to break through the Bottle Zhen stage.
And the Fire Domain where Thunder Wolf and Cheng Qianjin were from was enemies with the Five Elements Sect. If he didn’t seize the chance to level up, he’d only end up weaker than the Five Elements Sect.
Some inside information had been sent to the Fire Domain: the Celestial Pill Sect was scheming a major plan, and the masterminds were naturally the three grand elders of the Celestial Pill Sect currently in seclusion.
These three grand elders were extraordinarily mysterious, their strength unfathomable.
So Cheng Qianjin and Thunder Wolf’s purpose in coming this time was precisely this. What they didn’t know, however, was that Hao Kan was the representative of the Celestial Martial Sect. Besides coming to deal with Chen Tianlong, his mission was of course to figure out the Celestial Pill Sect’s ultimate goal.
When Chen Tianlong heard someone shout, he turned his head and instantly let out a bitter smile.
The Qilin Tribe was really unlucky. Not only had several of their experts been killed by the Fire Poison that Chen Tianlong drew out of Lin Wushuang, even their Sect Leader had been seriously injured.
This time when Thunder Wolf came over, he never imagined he’d run into Chen Tianlong again. At this moment he was practically about to explode with rage. This Chen Tianlong had gotten so many of his senior brothers killed, and even left his father’s meridians completely shattered.
At this time Cheng Qianjin also realized something was off, so he stepped forward and said, "Thunder Wolf, Chen Tianlong is a life-saving benefactor of our Five Elements Sect. No matter what grudges you have with him, give me some face today. As for what comes after, I won’t interfere."
Thunder Wolf glared at Chen Tianlong, then immediately turned to Cheng Qianjin and said, "For Sect Leader Cheng’s sake, I’ll let you off for now, kid. But if I run into you next time, you won’t be so lucky."
With that, he flicked his sleeve and went straight up to the second floor of the inn. Chen Tianlong took a few girls and followed Cheng Qianjin’s people upstairs to the second floor as well.
A moment later, everyone split into two tables. Chen Tianlong and the others sat together with Cheng Qianjin and a few more senior disciples.
"Chen Tianlong, what are you doing here?"
As soon as they sat down, Cheng Qianjin asked curiously.
"It’s a long story. Ever since I left the Five Elements Sect I’ve been through a lot. To tell you the truth, I came this time also to save someone..."
Chen Tianlong recounted everything he’d experienced these past days in detail to Cheng Qianjin. After listening, Cheng Qianjin furrowed his brows as well, feeling that Chen Tianlong’s encounters were really a bit miserable.
"Anyway, this Celestial Pill Sect trial feels fishy to me. I don’t think it’s that simple."
Cheng Qianjin told Chen Tianlong about the bits of inside information he’d picked up.
Chen Tianlong frowned. He’d also felt before that the Celestial Pill Sect had an agenda in holding this trial.
If it were just to earn some registration fees, there was absolutely no need. Their branches all over the country were already stocked with massive resources. Any casual move would be more profitable than this.
The only possibility was that this trial had some other purpose.
"Mr. Cheng, you’re saying... the Celestial Pill Sect is using this trial for some other goal?"
"Mm, that’s right. As for exactly what, I can’t be sure yet. Anyway, Chen Tianlong, just remember to be extra cautious. Try not to provoke the people of the Celestial Pill Sect, so they don’t bear a grudge and target you specifically. After all, no matter what scheme they’re running, they don’t dare rashly make a move on so many fellow Martial Arts cultivators." Cheng Qianjin explained.
"Then... Mr. Cheng, with your strength, do you still need to participate in the Celestial Pill Sect’s trial?"
Chen Tianlong let out a bitter smile. It wasn’t that he wanted to call it out, but Cheng Qianjin was already Celestial Dao Five-Star. He didn’t need Evil Qi to break through, and if he wanted to go from Celestial Dao Five to Celestial Dao Six, this Evil Qi might not even help.
"Hehe, I didn’t come this time to take the trial. I have another purpose. I’ll have to ask you to keep it secret for me, Chen Tianlong." Cheng Qianjin was far away in the Fire Domain; even if the Celestial Pill Sect found out, they wouldn’t deliberately bother with him. After all, joining this trial wasn’t just about making money.
"Don’t worry. You’re Yiyi’s father, and Yiyi, she..."
"Haha, I get it."
Cheng Qianjin directly cut him off.
"Uh..."
"Alright, let’s drop it. We won’t talk about this for now."
Cheng Qianjin seemed to realize something was wrong. That Lin Wushuang looked like Chen Tianlong’s girlfriend. If he kept talking like that, wouldn’t he be asking for hatred?
For the rest of the time, everyone stopped talking about the trial. They just chatted idly about family matters for a bit and then finished the meal.
Near eight in the evening, people came in one after another. As for exactly who they were, Chen Tianlong wasn’t too clear.
Tonight was bound to be an unusual night. Outside it was noisy the whole time—various sects catching up, visiting friends, making connections. The noise went on all the way until the third watch. By then the night was deep and quiet, and everyone gradually went to sleep.
But right at this time, a female disciple of the Emei Sect disappeared. At the same time, the Five Elements Sect’s senior disciple Xiao He also vanished.
In the inn’s main hall.
"Sect Leader Cheng, you’d better give me an explanation. Why is it that right after my Emei Sect disciple Mo—Mo Xiaowan disappears, your Five Elements Sect’s senior disciple Xiao He also goes missing?"
Master Mie Wo glared fiercely at Cheng Qianjin as she spoke.
"Master Mie Wo, you must calm down. Before things are clear, you can’t just go around slandering others." Cheng Qianjin was very calm, because he knew Xiao He’s character—he would never do something that would disgrace the sect.
"Hmph, if your disciple were a girl, let’s see if you could stay calm." Master Mie Wo said sourly.
At this moment Chen Tianlong and Lin Wushuang also came downstairs. Seeing so many people gathered and arguing, they knew something was wrong. They walked over and asked, "Seniors, what exactly happened?"
"Hmph, ask Sect Leader Cheng yourself."
Clearly, Master Mie Wo was still fuming.
Chen Tianlong looked at Cheng Qianjin with a wry smile, and Cheng Qianjin also wore a helpless expression. "Chen Tianlong, here’s the situation: the Emei Sect’s female disciple Mo Xiaowan went missing, and then it just so happened that my disciple Xiao He is also nowhere to be found, so..."
"See? See? ’So’ what? Isn’t it obvious your disciple ran off with our Mo Xiaowan? Hmph!" Master Mie Wo suddenly cut in.
Chen Tianlong felt a bit awkward, but he still quickly tried to ease the tension.
"Well, Master, I think there’s definitely something off about this. I’ve met Xiao He back when I was in the Five Elements Sect. He’s honest and sincere, a pillar of the Five Elements Sect—he’s not that stupid.
Have you considered that maybe the two of them just happened to run into something at the same time?"
Hearing this, Cheng Qianjin and Mie Wo both had a flash of realization. It did make sense. If that was the case, then things were even worse.
Thinking of this, Master Mie Wo started to panic.
Whether it was true or not, Mo Xiaowan was a pitiful orphan she’d brought up the mountain since childhood. Only after great effort had the girl learned solid martial skills—she absolutely could not let something major happen to her.
"Fellow sect members, friends, please help go out and search. I’m begging you." Master Mie Wo pleaded sincerely.
Zhang Shanfeng of the Wuning Sect was the first to step out. Leading his disciples, he headed straight outside: "Disciples of our sect, hear my order—go out and search for them."
"Thank you, Master Zhang." Master Mie Wo was clearly very grateful.
"Disciples of the Celestial Martial Sect, hear my order. Go out as well and search for the whereabouts of our two friends."
"Thank you, Young Master Hao."
