Chapter 1180 - 683: Forging the Legendary Longsword (Part 2)
"Lis, this is the forging area, and most of the craftsmen make equipment here. But with your strength, Lis, you will definitely get your own dedicated forging room."
...
Nidir enthusiastically introduced Lis as she walked beside him.
Lis nodded, while observing the interior layout of the Iron Hammer Workshop.
In fact, upon arriving here, the temperature inside the workshop was already quite high.
The scorching heat seemed to ignite everything around, but for Dwarves, this temperature was just right. Even Nidir showed no sign of discomfort.
Noticing the arrival of Tomun, Nidir, and a new face, the surrounding dwarves curiously looked over.
But soon, they withdrew their gazes.
This dwarf is so handsome, he doesn’t look like a crafting craftsman at all.
Is he really a descendant of some important figure visiting?
The dwarves who appear inside the Iron Hammer Workshop are almost all dedicated to forging and are quite skilled, generally not caring much about other matters.
Lis followed behind Tomun and entered a corridor where there were faintly several doors on both sides.
Tomun pushed open one of the doors and entered.
Following behind, Lis was presented with a rather unique forging room.
This forging room was quite large, even bigger than a small forging workshop.
The air in the room was filled with the pungent smell of sulfur and hot metal, and in the center stood a furnace made of obsidian and refined steel, majestic like a dormant beast, with dark red veins writhing like blood vessels.
The terrifying high temperature seemed to twist the air with hisses of noise, unbearable for an average person.
Around the furnace, the forge tables extended like jagged fangs, their surfaces covered with deep and shallow hammer marks and black scorch marks, with anvils, tongs, and quenching troughs strewn about, the edges caked with mottled metallic residue.
The walls were filled with various tools, half-person-height double-headed warhammers hung under iron chains, the hammerheads bearing remnants of dark red rust; a serrated short axe was slanted into a wooden stump, the blade hinting at a faint blue glow; bundles of rivets and bolts, like tusks, were nailed onto the wooden boards, with several pairs of what seemed to be dragon skin-sewn insulating gloves hanging nearby, their edges burned and curled, becoming fragile.
Scattered around the forge tables were coal blocks and piles of ore forming small mountains, with several unfinished daggers stuck in charred wooden blocks, the blades still emitting dark red heat.
Lis gazed at this forge room with some emotion.
He could see the once-busy scene here, but now it seemed there was some time since it had last been used, with a thin layer of dust appearing on many of the tools.
Tomun patted Lis on the shoulder with a "thump-thump" sound.
He laughed and said:
"This is my forge room, but I’m getting old now, my strength is a bit lacking, so I haven’t been here for some time. Before, it was just making small trinkets outside."
"Compared to the outside forging area, the tools here are more comprehensive, making it easier for you to use."
"For example, this volcanic furnace, the workshop will keep the furnace’s temperature maintained allowing you to forge anytime, and its strength is sufficient to support the forging of legendary equipment."
"I understand."
Lis nodded, looking at Tomun, waiting for his further instructions.
Noticing Lis’s gaze, Tomun smiled and said:
"The requirement to join the Iron Hammer Workshop is simple, just create a sufficiently substantial weapon or equipment."
"You can make whatever you want, I’ll only look at the final result."
"Alright."
Lis nodded, not saying anything more, directly coming to the furnace to feel the temperature, immediately preparing to get hands-on.
Tomun looked at Nidir standing beside him, smiling, said:
"Little Nidir, you should head out first. The temperature here won’t allow you to last very long."
"Lis wants to craft a piece of equipment, it’s not something that can be completed in a short time."
"Understood, Grandpa Tomun."
Nidir wiped the sweat off her forehead and said obediently.
Taking another look at Lis, she turned and left the forge room.
She knew full well these forge rooms in this area were specially prepared by the Iron Hammer Workshop for the forging masters, with quite stringent forging conditions.
Most people simply couldn’t stay in these rooms.
But noticing Lis’s unchanged expression, Nidir suddenly had even more belief in her previous speculation.
Not long after, with the sounds of hammer striking present in this forge room, Tomun, with a smiling face, closed the door and walked out.
An expert shows his hand, and you immediately know!
Just by taking one look at Lis’s technique, Tomun knew his previous speculation was not wrong.
Although there were still parts that were not fully matured and seemed a bit crude, once you’ve reached this level, even grinding it out with time would quickly bring it up.
"Great and noble Moradin above, are you giving me such a wonderful apprentice now that I’ve grown old?"
Tomun left with a satisfied look and a smile.
...
Just a few days later, news of a new forging master arriving at the Iron Hammer Workshop spread.
But regarding this news, the dwarf craftsmen in the workshop were quite curious.
Even in the Dwarf Kingdom, forging masters are among the most respected beings.
Everyone wonders how suddenly a forging master appeared when they hadn’t even heard any news before.
Of course, the accuracy of this news is very high.
The usually boisterous and cursing Tomun master seemed to have a good mood these days for unknown reasons, even when he saw other craftsmen or apprentices making mistakes, he didn’t get physical but patiently pointed out their errors.
My goodness!
When has anyone at the Iron Hammer Workshop ever seen Tomun like this?
Moreover, the workshop’s goddess, Nidir, stayed around Tomun’s forge room every day, delivering meals, water, materials, doing whatever it took.
This left many craftsmen apprentices who liked Nidir secretly heartbroken, rushing to the tavern to drown their sorrows in alcohol after work.
With such a fuss, how could it not be due to a forging master?
Meanwhile, Lis ignored the commotion he caused outside, staying wholeheartedly in the forge room honing his work.
At this moment, Lis concentrated intensely as he pulled a crimson hot block of iron from the furnace, placing it on the forge table, and began rhythmically striking it.
You could vaguely see Lis was crafting a longsword.
In the corners around the forge room, many fully-formed longswords were casually placed there.
From the gleaming cold light and sharp blades of those longswords, you could see these were rare great pieces, yet they were casually discarded to the side.
Because these longswords didn’t reach Lis’s goal, they were merely at the Golden Rank level.
If others heard this, even dwarf craftsmen would think this person was too show-offish.
But for Lis, they indeed fell a little short.
His goal was to successfully forge a Legendary Long Sword!
And after multiple attempts by Lis, Tomun realized what Lis was trying to achieve.
In response, Tomun was highly supportive.
He not only provided Lis with guidance based on experience but also used his contribution points to exchange for quite a number of precious materials from the workshop for Lis.
Sss~
The sound of quenching echoed in the forge room...
Buzz~
The sound of grinding accompanied by the deepening breath...
Hiss~
The gentle sound of inscribing Magic Runes heralded the imminent success...
Just as Lis completed the final stroke of Magic Pattern Circuit on the longsword, powerful magic power surged instantly from the fire attribute gem on the sword’s hilt into the longsword.
The fiery red magic circuit instantly covered the entire blade, emitting extremely powerful waves.
Then all the Magic Runes seemed to sink into the blade and disappeared, leaving only the intimidatingly sharp blade and the continuously flickering ruby.
Lis picked up this longsword, holding it in his hand, and the strong, sharp aura instantly erupted from the longsword, resonating in the forge room.
The Legendary Long Sword, forged successfully!
