Chapter 1104 - 645: Zhao Zhao Once Again Becomes a Tool
"I don’t think so."
Zhao Zhao kept his gaze fixed on the entrance of Kane Castle and said:
"I heard that the plot development of the game ’Divine Revelation’ is completely generated by intelligent AI, perfectly matching the development of a real world."
"Things like a fusion of all continents into one couldn’t possibly happen."
"So what do you think the 3.0 version world server will be like?"
"...I don’t know either, maybe it’s special maps like the Endless Abyss or the Star Realm?"
Zhao Zhao thought for a moment and said uncertainly.
Terms like the Endless Abyss, Star Realm, Element Plane, and Netherworld, which sound quite impressive, often appear in the game’s plot background introductions, but so far no player has been able to reach these special areas.
Players are understandably curious about these places.
"I think it might be ocean exploration!"
Mo Yun looked at his companion and said confidently:
"Think about it, besides the six continents, isn’t there the Endless Ocean?"
"The 3.0 version will surely be about exploring the ocean, then the national war will take place in the depths of the sea!"
"Oh~ my ocean!"
Seeing Mo Yun’s expression lost in fantasy, Zhao Zhao smirked but didn’t interrupt.
Exploring the ocean depths, do you have any idea how vast the Endless Ocean is?
If all the players spread out, they might not meet anyone till the next version, let alone wage a national war.
While the few members of [Embers of the Fire] were eagerly discussing, suddenly Zhao Zhao and Mo Yun’s figures disappeared from their original spot.
"Hmm? Where did they go?"
The nearby Si Lu, Ice Valley, and others looked baffled, searching around but finding no trace of them.
Then after a moment, as if they realized something, they glanced at Kane Castle in the distance and cautiously moved to a farther spot to continue waiting.
...
Zhao Zhao and Mo Yun only felt a momentary blur before their feet felt solid ground, and they opened their eyes.
Seeing Lis in front of them, their minds almost went blank.
No, what’s going on here?
Wasn’t I outside Kane Castle? How did I suddenly appear here?
Lis looked at them and said with a smile:
"No need to be nervous, you’ve both seen me before as guards of Kane Floating City, haven’t you?"
"Lord Lis!"
Mo Yun and Zhao Zhao finally reacted and quickly saluted Lis.
In the game, communication with NPCs has no fixed limits, and of course, being courteous can earn NPCs’ recognition, a fact well understood by game strategy masters like Zhao Zhao.
"Alright."
Lis nodded, then said to Zhao Zhao and Mo Yun:
"I’ve noticed that lately, many people have appeared at Danerluo Port, many of whom are tall undead like you."
"Yes."
Zhao Zhao said with a slight bow, not hesitating for a moment.
While Mo Yun stepped back slightly, leaving the communication work entirely to Zhao Zhao.
This was their pre-arranged duty distribution for raiding secret realms and completing tasks, a tacit understanding that needed no words between them.
As for Lis’s inquiry, Zhao Zhao didn’t find it surprising.
In the 2.0 main storyline, many forces had already noticed the uniqueness of players, the most prominent points being [Undying Characteristic] and [Uncontrollable Attribute].
[Undying Characteristic] refers to the undead reappearing shortly after death, which attracted the attention of many extraordinary forces.
In the Gaia Main World, resurrection methods aren’t uncommon, but players’ cases are quite special.
Normal resurrection abilities require a medium like the body or soul of the revived, and the better the resurrection effect, the harsher the conditions.
However, the appearance of the undead completely broke this understanding.
Even if the undead’s bodies are destroyed, burned to ash, or reduced to mince, it doesn’t affect their resurrection, as if their bodies aren’t relevant at all.
No matter how powerful professionals attempt to research players’ souls, they gain nothing, as if the undead’s bodies are soulless shells.
Legendary or even Divine Rank resurrection abilities can achieve similar effects, but the sheer number of undead makes such consumption unbearable even for the divine.
Due to the [Undying Characteristic], undead performing task commissions are diligent and fearless, often resulting in mutual destruction with enemies, leading many Human Kingdoms in the 2.0 version to hire undead for war commissions.
If it were just this, even without understanding why undead can resurrect unconditionally, they would still be excellent tools.
But besides this, the [Uncontrollable Attribute] exhibited by undead worries those extraordinary forces.
As for the [Uncontrollable Attribute]...
Hmm...
This is indeed the normal performance of players...
Including but not limited to night-raiding the Royal Palace to find the King’s underwear, dancing a striptease on the altar during church service, or having a battlefield contest on who can pee farthest with companions...
In the eyes of extraordinary forces recruiting players, every undead seemed insane. If it weren’t for their reliability in completing commission tasks, the forces would have been driven mad.
Previously on player forums, there were many records of players being captured by plot NPCs for research, making players aware that NPCs would react differently due to players’ influence.
As a plot protagonist and top-tier NPC, Lis would undoubtedly have noticed players’ anomalies and might have been quietly observing for some time.
Moreover, Zhao Zhao thought their becoming guards of Kane Floating City was likely intentional on Lis’s part, considering their professional prowess was only part of it.
Otherwise, many Silver Rank Professionals were filtered out, yet Bronze Rank Professionals, who all happened to be players, passed the test.
Thinking back to their first meeting with Lis when he was a Silver Rank Professional, did Lis already notice players’ uniqueness then?
Zhao Zhao inhaled sharply, contributing to Gaia World’s warming efforts.
Lis, terrifying as always!
Lis ignored the awestruck Zhao Zhao and continued:
"I brought you and Mo Yun here because there’s something I need you to do."
"Please give your orders!"
Zhao Zhao’s eyes lit up, familiar with this unfolding—it’s the scent of a hidden quest!
"This is Morris, Archbishop of the Dawn Church."
Lis pointed to Morris beside him and said to Zhao Zhao.
Morris?!
This is the Legendary Priest from the Dawn Cathedral, isn’t it?
Zhao Zhao was surprised and quickly noticed the elderly man sitting next to Lis.
Morris now looked like any ordinary, frail old man, but one could feel a warmth emanating from him.
Isn’t this the elder from the previous Dawn Church group?
A Legendary Priest personally visiting Lis, something significant must be happening!
Zhao Zhao felt he might have realized something and quickly looked at Lis.
"The great God of Dawn sensed an upcoming grand change affecting the entire Gaia World, with Danerluo Port being a key location."
"But we don’t know what exactly will happen, so to concentrate our strength, I need you to notify all undead at Danerluo Port about this situation and have them ready to defend Danerluo Port at any time."
As soon as Lis finished speaking, a new task appeared on Zhao Zhao and Mo Yun’s system panels.
Zhao Zhao didn’t rush to check the task but let his mind run quickly.
He’s received similar tasks from Lis before, like when the server first opened or when heading to Danerluo Port. Without thinking, it’s the kind that is both easy and generously rewarding.
After all, as a plot NPC, Lis couldn’t possibly know that the undead have the convenience of a player forum for intelligence sharing.
However, Zhao Zhao paid more attention to another point.
A grand change affecting the entire Gaia World?
Could this be the main storyline task for the 3.0 version?
