Chapter 1070 - 1005: The Implications of Unregulated Transactions
Ice Song City is as its name suggests, cold as ice and full of melancholic song, with not a single person in sight on the icy streets. Da Fei strolled through, as if he’d entered the legendary ice-cold ghost realm of the Netherworld. Even Ghost City would probably be more prosperous than this place.
Saphen said lightly, "Warriors and esteemed guests, our Siren Clan communicates with each other through song, so there’s no need to be out on the streets. The songs you hear are the proof of this city’s bustling activity."
Da Fei then realized, "I see!"
The Shaman Hero praised, "Our War Soul Clan can also communicate over long distances through drum and song. I believe our tribes have common grounds for communication."
Saphen let out a sigh, "Hopefully!"
The Shaman Hero hurriedly added, "Our clan is very sincere in making good friends!"
Da Fei laughed helplessly. Well, I don’t even have to introduce myself; the Beastman is already promoting themselves, saving me a lot of effort.
Now, the team reached a tall Ice Fortress in the city center, and Saphen introduced, "This is our storage warehouse in Ice Song City, which also functions as a trading center. Warriors can select anything they want to trade from here."
Da Fei was surprised, "Is your city’s warehouse and trading place merged into one?"
Saphen replied blandly, "After all, we don’t have many trading partners, so there’s no need to establish a dedicated trading place."
The Shaman Hero promptly said, "Our War Soul Clan hopes to become your trading partner."
Saphen still said blandly, "Hopefully."
As the fortress doors opened, Da Fei entered a grand hall filled with various minerals, beast skins, and sea ivory.
Saphen called over the warehouse keeper, "Discuss trade with these guests."
Not even a proper trader; how backward is this! This virgin land desperately awaits my development! Fine, development begins with this second transaction, unlike the initial trade with those Fishman slave children!
Da Fei said, "I have a batch of goods to handle, name your price."
This brought up a transaction window, and Da Fei directly put up 100 One-eyed Monster Slave Soldiers, over a thousand Minotaur Slave Soldiers, along with 4600 units of pearls Catherine previously delivered, plus 1350 units of newly seized pearls, and topped it off with 1468 Night Light Pearls!
That’s right, Da Fei’s goal was profession advancement! When Da Fei set off, the mayor had specifically sent a chubby official to guide him: to achieve the "Military Transporter" profession, besides meeting various basic skill requirements, one must complete a transaction yielding over 10 million Gold Coin profits.
Da Fei had not only reached all skill requirements but exceeded them; Logistics Skill, Bargaining Skill, Attack Skill, and Leadership Skill had all surpassed Grandmaster level, while Sailing Skill had achieved God-level, greatly exceeding the requirements. Under normal circumstances, Da Fei’s promotion was assured!
But now Da Fei’s professional multitasking had reached its limit; could he break through and comprehend new professions? Da Fei had no confidence, so the only strategy was to pour in all his financial resources for an all-out attempt! Da Fei didn’t know where this transaction stood in the world of Gold Coins, but just for those over a thousand slave soldiers, it shouldn’t fall short of a billion Gold Coin profit!
Let’s go, with 10 times the profit and Grandmaster God-level overqualified skills, can I force through a profession advance?!
Da Fei listed his transaction items, but the trader didn’t immediately present an offer, instead stood stunned on the spot!
Da Fei’s eyebrows twitched, "What’s wrong?"
The trader finally recovered, exclaiming, "The guest’s purchasing power has exceeded our inventory; adding up all our resources, we can’t complete this trade with you, Warriors!"
Saphen was shocked, "How could this be?"
Da Fei was equally astonished! Holy—Is this how things happen in games?
Saphen quickly reacted, shaking her head with a bitter smile, "Warrior, the goods in the warehouse are our accumulated surplus over the years, we don’t have enough resources to exchange for your goods, so please reduce your purchase."
Reduce my purchase? No way! I’ve worked tirelessly, fearing the cargo for half a day; now you’re telling me it can’t be absorbed? This is less of an Ice Song City, more like an Ice Song Village! And crucially, I’m trying to force through a profession advance, how can I cut back?
Da Fei hurriedly asked, "How can this be? Surely you have Deep Sea Ice Crystal Stones, right?"
Saphen shook her head and sighed, "Deep Sea Ice Crystal Stones are crucial materials for our weapon and armor production; what we sold you previously was excess, and there’s none left now. Our Siren Clan has a small population and low productivity—pardon us."
Damn, I feel like crying! How can I laugh? When will I have time to come back for a big deal like this? Wait, did she mention weapons and armor? Right, exchange with those!
In normal city trading centers, only commercial goods are sold, not player equipment; player equipment is only sold at weapon shops. But this Ice Song City doesn’t even have a proper trader—what’s the deeper meaning behind such unregulated arrangements? Speaking of irregularity, I recalled Fire Dragon Island, which also lacked a professional trader, using the tavern owner as a makeshift substitute, and my past dealings were equally flexible and informal!
Da Fei had a sudden thought, urgently probing, "I’m very appreciative of our city’s Ice Song Set. Since the warehouse lacks resources, why not trade with weapons and armor, right?"
Saphen shook her head and sighed, "Weapons and armor are even harder to come by than warehouse goods, and we absolutely can’t trade them for resources; sorry, Warriors!"
Oh dear! No go? No way! I can’t give up easily! As a high-end player, I must believe there’s inherent opportunity in this unorganized trading center—what’s it?
Da Fei blurted urgently, "Surely there are powerful Siren Warriors in your city whom we can trade with?"
Saphen rang with displeasure, "Warrior, our clan’s small population makes our warriors extremely precious, and absolutely not for sale."
Agh! Da Fei blathered in desperation, "Surely there’s something you can trade—skills, advancement in Hidden Professions, Hidden Races—anything!"
Saphen shook her head gravely, "Sorry, our Clan Leader’s directive limits our interaction with warriors to trade and traffic only, so we can’t meet all your trade requests."
No loopholes at all, just like a regular marketplace! Da Fei was furious, grinding his teeth! Is this my fault for being too ahead of my time? Must I miss the most promising chance to advance my profession?
No! I can’t give up! Giving up means my world’s number one standing, indistinguishable from regular players. This unorganized trade center must have exploitable openings!
Da Fei began deep pondering! To think about the greatest irregularity, he suddenly recalled his very first trade with Siren Clan, when it was Saphen he traded with for 167 units of Deep Sea Ice Crystal Stones on the Devil Sea front line in the wild, treating such valuable resources like curbside sales without any stall—more haphazard than even Fire Dragon Island tavern dealings!
Da Fei had a sudden epiphany; perhaps the breakthrough was right in Saphen herself! And sensing her adorned in Ice Crystal Armor, Da Fei had a brilliant idea, "Lady Saphen, can I buy what you’re wearing? Surely you have authority over your own things!"
Saphen stood shocked, "Warrior, are you joking!"
It’s buying the original ethnic beauty’s outfit! Da Fei, unfazed, said, "Not joking! Surely these slave soldiers and pearls are what our Siren Clan needs most? Enhancing our productivity and boosting our population—losing any would be a great loss, wouldn’t it? Plus, Saphen’s already formidable enough without this armor, right? And our new Beastman friends are evaluating our market."
Saphen quietly said, "My set includes a Divine Artifact!"
—Ah phooey! Da Fei spat out saliva on site! A Divine Artifact, now that I surely want to buy! (To be continued.
