Chapter 1065 - 1001: Triple Gains Off the Beaten Path
The battle has entered the harvesting time. Even if the enemy’s total force is ten or even twenty times that of the Da Fei Angel Army, even if the individual warriors can fight back and forth against the angels, they are completely no match for Da Fei now.
This is the peculiarity of sea battles, as well as the peculiarity of high-technology warfare. The so-called high technology is all about a complete system. To put it plainly, it’s about sea, land, and air reconnaissance and harassment all at once. Although the opponent also has high technology, their system is singular, how could they withstand this?
Besides feeling emotional, Da Fei suddenly grew more worried about the Catherine Fleet. Not to mention anything else, encountering an opponent like Blasphemer George would be quite troublesome.
At this moment, Selvia suddenly frowned and said, "Strange, my Sea Soul Staff cannot collect the souls of the enemy’s fallen troops!"
Da Fei’s eyebrows jumped, just as expected! In previous battles, as many enemies died as there were plumes of white smoke drifting into the Sea Soul Staff, but now this phenomenon is entirely absent!
Such an eerie scene immediately made Da Fei see these beastmen in a different light. Thinking carefully, the homeland of the Beastman Kingdom is all prairie, at most a few inland lakes and rivers, and actually, there are no decent port cities. So where did such large beastman warships come from?
Upon contemplating this, Da Fei realized the problem wasn’t so simple! This is the far east of the Earth, and from the map, it seems somewhat plausible that beastmen from the Great Wilderness sailed over, but are there beastmen in the Great Wilderness? This means these beastmen are actually not from the Beastman Kingdom. Could they be a hidden force?
With this thought, Da Fei immediately became interested and shouted, "Kunyak, your defeat is certain, you’d better surrender!"
A beastman vice hero yelled angrily, "Beastmen, never slaves!!!"
Oh, wow! You’re still not dead yet? Da Fei tried probing, "I’m from the Bright Alliance. I’ve never heard of your beastmen in the Dark Alliance; is this a misunderstanding?"
The vice hero shouted angrily, "We are the War Soul Clan; we would never join any lousy alliance. If you want to fight, we’ll fight to the death!"
Da Fei’s eyebrows jumped; it truly is a hidden force! As a high-level player, don’t miss the chance to interact with any hidden force!
Da Fei hurriedly shouted, "Since you’re not from the Dark Alliance, we should talk things over peacefully. Let’s stop the fighting, surrender!"
The vice hero angrily declared, "Never surrender!"
Oh, come on! Is my time really being used for verbal battles now? Even if it’s a hidden force, what I want to engage with are beautiful races like the Siren Flower Demoness, who has the patience to deal with you barbarians?
Da Fei, in a bad mood, said, "If you don’t surrender, I’ll beat the crap out of you and then seize your bodies to study and eat them!"
Tamilia couldn’t wait and said, "I feel there’s a faint power of nature in these beastman warriors’ bodies; this is exactly what the Holy Vine needs for nourishment!"
Oh wow, it seems like there’s nothing that isn’t needed for the nourishment of the Holy Vine! Da Fei could only say, "Then you can fight to the death!"
At this moment, a weak voice chimed in, "No, we surrender. Please spare the bodies of our fallen warriors!"
——System Prompt: The enemy hero Kunyak fears your strength and requests to surrender. Do you accept?
Ahahaha! That’s more like it, accept!
——System Prompt: Battle over! You have defeated the enemy hero Kunyak’s troops and captured the enemy! You gain +3.53 million experience! You obtain 735 units of water and grain, 106 units of dried meat, 200 units of pearls, 100 One-eyed Slave Warriors, and 1160 Minotaur Slave Warriors as spoils of war.
——System Prompt: Congratulations! You achieved the victory of the 23rd battle, gaining a Command Power reward of +10. You achieved the victory of the 17th glorious battle, gaining a Command Power reward of +20, and +20 to Personal Life.
Da Fei’s eyelids twitched in amazement; slaves acquired, the legendary One-eyed Monster and Minotaur! One-eyed Giant as a level 7 beastman unit is understandable, but the Minotaur is clearly not something the Beastman Kingdom could produce; it must be a creature from the Great Wilderness!
Da Fei hurriedly jumped onto the slave transport ship to inspect the slaves. The Shaman Hero, supported by two other beastman vice heroes and guarded by numerous angels, bowed his head as he approached Da Fei and said, "Warrior, we have lost, but I pray that in the name of Mother Earth, you allow us to resurrect our fallen brothers."
As the victor, Da Fei laughed heartily, quite generously, "Actually, it’s mainly because I got it wrong; I thought you were from the Dark Alliance, so it was entirely a mistake, hahaha, don’t think too much of it, so be it, resurrect them, I won’t make things difficult for you."
The Shaman Hero quickly said, "Actually, our War Soul Clan doesn’t have a good relationship with the currently War Song Clan-led alliance of the Beastman Chieftains’ United Kingdom. Hundreds of years ago, our clan disagreed with the War Song Clan’s leadership and was oppressed and excluded by the entire Chieftain Country, so we had to relocate our entire clan eastward into the wilderness, eventually reaching the easternmost coast of the mainland. There, we met the Naga; they were the only civilization with which we could communicate, but we are very impoverished, and apart from capturing creatures from the wilderness and training them into slaves, we have no other resources."
Da Fei instantly understood: "These One-eyed Monsters and Minotaurs are indeed creatures of the Great Wilderness!"
The Shaman Hero quickly nodded: "Exactly, these three ships of slaves are the result of our clan battling to the death this year. Our clan, over ten thousand strong, urgently needs this trade to survive. Since the warrior’s actions were unintentional, perhaps the warrior could—"
At this point, the Shaman Hero lowered his head even further, his voice shy like a woman’s: "—perhaps the warrior could return these slaves to us. Our War Soul Clan will forever remember the warrior’s kindness and would be willing to forge a friendship with the warrior!"
Da Fei was shocked and widened his eyes! Oh my goodness, I said it was unintentional and you actually dare to take advantage of that? You have the nerve to ask me to return the slaves? Is this big deal even possible? Is the NPC so shameless because the system is testing the player’s emotional intelligence or their IQ?
Don’t even think about it. I took such a big risk to pull off this job and have no interest in forging a friendship with a hidden corner force. Besides, I’m about to head back to challenge the Japan Zone, and I don’t have time to develop a friendship with a corner force.
But—
In that instant, Da Fei hesitated! Da Fei thought about how he managed to get this far, besides being particularly lucky, the most important thing might be doing things unconventionally, right? The thoughts above are entirely normal thinking, but what if I don’t follow the normal path?
Or to say, even if I swallow this batch of slaves and sell them for a good price at the Siren place, earning a lot of Ice Song Reputation, normally I should take advantage of the situation and continue trading between the Sirens and Nagas to create a snowball effect for this result. However, I’m about to finish my battles and head for the National War, causing a huge time gap where this snowball effect will undoubtedly be greatly reduced.
In short, it all comes down to the fact that since I’m about to pack up and head home, whether I swallow this batch or offer friendship to them, the time gaps will prevent maximizing the effects! Meaning, this oriental trip’s conclusion will inevitably be imperfect due to time constraints!
And imperfection is precisely something Da Fei, who has had a glorious journey, cannot tolerate. This feeling is like having an error that leads to incomplete Divine Artifact attributes, which is quite vexing.
At this moment, seeing Da Fei silent for a while, the Shaman Hero quietly raised his head to glance at Da Fei, and at this moment, Da Fei, who was in a dilemma, met his gaze squarely! Da Fei distinctly saw anticipation in his eyes, saw anxiety, saw helplessness, saw humiliation, all expressed without words!
Oh my goodness, as an NPC hero, why do you have so much functionality? And thinking about it, what if I were in his place, becoming a prisoner, how would I feel?
In this moment, Da Fei felt moved! Da Fei decided to trust the instincts he has always had and continue to take the unconventional path! But now, as a high-end player, even if I’m taking the unconventional path, it’s still an unconventional path within the unconventional path!
So, after careful consideration, Da Fei gave his reply: "Let me ask, is your trading partner only the Thunder Spear City Lord?"
The Shaman Hero was taken aback but then replied: "Yes, only the Thunder Spear City Lord has the ability to ensure our fleet’s safety."
Da Fei smiled faintly: "Now you see, he doesn’t actually have that ability. Let me ask further, given your reliance on the Thunder Spear City Lord as a buyer, haven’t you encountered cases where he takes advantage because of his position? Aren’t there times when his offered purchase prices fail to satisfy you?"
The Shaman Hero frowned and replied: "Indeed, there have been instances of price instability."
Da Fei laughed and said: "Exactly, because you have no options, only getting squeezed on prices by him. Let me introduce you to a new buyer, and see how the prices they offer compare?"
The Shaman Hero was stunned and asked: "Warrior’s meaning is?"
Da Fei laughed: "I am very willing to make friends with your clan, and for that reason, I will also introduce you to a new friend. Moreover, this new friend is absolutely immune to the Thunder Spear City Lord’s threats. I’ll demonstrate the transaction results for you, and then return the traded goods to you, showing my sincerity in befriending you. This isn’t much different from returning the slaves to you directly now. What do you think?"
The Shaman Hero was baffled for a while, then lowered his head uneasily and said: "We have no choice but to submit to the warrior’s decisions. Please, warrior, remember the promise made to my ten thousand clansmen in dire straits."
Da Fei smiled: "No problem, you should rest now and revive the warriors."
Indeed, Da Fei’s intention has three points:
One: Without understanding the value of these slaves, I cannot return them thoughtlessly now; I must personally sell them first and then return some based on the situation.
Two: Selling such a large batch personally can boost my commerce skills and perhaps even gain insight into the "Military Transporter" new profession. Da Fei has passed on the huge business of wine selling to Deirdre, but this chance to push career advancement must not be missed.
Three: After bringing these Beastmen to the Siren Territory, I can sell what needs selling, return what needs returning, thereby boosting reputation on both ends and potentially establishing trade relations between the Sirens and Beastmen.
Overall, this is called killing three birds with one stone, taking the unconventional path within the unconventional path! (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to vote at Qidian (qidian.com), your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
