“I’ll ask you one more time to make sure.”
Loran’s voice echoed clearly inside the relatively enclosed space.
“Once you enter the Grand Library, you’ll be facing Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. The fight has two phases…”
“I know, I know.”
Kiro interrupted him impatiently.
“First phase: beat up those little girls crawling around on the floor with golden lights above their heads. Knock out three of them, and she falls from the sky. Then you run up and hit her.”
She counted on her fingers.
“Second phase: she starts throwing all kinds of magic at you and summons random things. Giants, wolves, even a Glintstone Dragon. I just need to dodge her spells and attack during the gaps between her summons.”
She rolled her eyes.
“You’ve already explained it eight times. My ears are about to grow calluses.”
Loran fell silent.
At that moment, he looked less like a warrior preparing for battle and more like an exhausted babysitter—or a parent sending their child to take an important exam.
Again and again, he repeated the strategies he had memorized countless times.
“...Remember, her magic projectiles are slow, but they track your movements. Don’t run in a straight line.”
“...The Frenzied Flame has a long startup animation. It’s easy to interrupt her. Use Lightning Spear to harass her instead. Don’t always try to burn her down in one go.”
Kiro had gone from excited, to bored, to completely annoyed.
She felt like she was being underestimated.
“It’s just some old lady, isn’t it? What’s there to be afraid of?”
She pouted, but the usual reckless confidence had already returned to her face.
“Relax. I can handle her alone.”
She clenched her fist confidently.
“After beating her, I’ll go to Caria Manor and kill that mounted knight too. Then I’ll find that blue four-armed freak.”
She grinned.
“Being a spy? Easy! My acting skills are way better than Boc’s sewing skills!”
The elevator stopped.
The door of the Grand Library was right ahead.
Loran stopped walking.
From this point onward, he could not continue.
He was already hostile with Ranni’s faction. And since Rennala was Ranni’s mother, there was a high chance that something had been left behind in the Grand Library.
If he entered, he might trigger some unknown hostile mechanism and make an already complicated situation even worse.
All he could do was place his hope in the unreliable woman beside him.
Loran reached out and patted Kiro’s shoulder.
“The rest… I’ll leave it to you.”
Kiro seemed stunned by his sudden seriousness.
She blinked.
Then she puffed out her chest, revealing a brilliant smile.
“Who do you think I am?”
Watching the door slowly close behind Kiro, Loran finally realized something.
This woman’s greatest cheat ability was not that vague thing called “luck.”
It was her completely unreasonable, logic-defying, unstoppable confidence.
That confidence allowed her to challenge any enemy without hesitation.
And it also allowed her to extract “victory experience” from every single failure she suffered.
Loran shook his head and temporarily pushed all thoughts about Kiro aside.
He had more important things to do now.
“Mr. Loran…”
Roderika’s voice came from beside him.
Loran turned around.
The girl was looking up at him.
“Are we not waiting here for Miss Kiro?”
“No.”
Loran answered.
“She has her own things to do. We have ours.”
He whistled.
A blue light gathered, and Torrent appeared.
“Let’s go.”
Loran mounted the spectral steed and extended a hand toward Roderika.
“We’re going to the Weeping Peninsula.”
Inside the Grand Library, a low and sorrowful song echoed.
The first phase was much easier than Kiro expected.
She barely had to put in any effort.
She simply ran around the arena like a headless chicken, kicking over the little girls sitting on the floor with golden halos above their heads.
Every time she knocked down the third one, Rennala floating in the air would drop down like a balloon that had suddenly lost all its air.
Her golden barrier shattered.
And Kiro rushed forward.
Then she hacked away at the completely defenseless body.
Again.
And again.
In less than three minutes, Rennala collapsed.
“Seriously? That’s it?”
Kiro stood in the middle of the empty library, lazily dragging the tip of her dagger across the floor.
“I thought she’d be stronger.”
The world changed.
A cold female voice echoed.
The scenery transformed into a clear lake reflecting a gigantic full moon.
Rennala appeared once again.
But this time…
Her presence was completely different.
“Here we go, here we go.”
Kiro rubbed her hands together excitedly.
“Phase two! Show me what you’ve got!”
Rennala raised her hand.
The next moment—
A massive blue beam erupted.
It instantly swallowed Kiro’s entire body.
【YOU DIED】
When Kiro respawned at the Site of Grace once again, she finally lost her patience.
“I’m done! I’m done!”
She threw her dagger onto the ground.
“How am I supposed to fight that?!”
She scratched her head angrily.
“What was that thing called again…”
She snapped her fingers.
“Oh right. Comet Azur.”
“Fast startup, huge range, and I can’t even roll away from it!”
Out of her eleven deaths, eight had been caused by that spell.
The remaining three were:
One death from being crushed under the foot of a summoned dragon.
One death from being torn apart by a pack of wolves.
And one death from being smashed by Rennala’s Full Moon.
She had tried using Lightning Spear for ranged harassment.
But Rennala always had several Glintstone projectiles floating around her.
Before Kiro could even finish casting, the spell had already been interrupted.
She had also tried using the Frenzied Flame.
But that ridiculously long casting animation turned her into a perfect target under Rennala’s endless magic bombardment.
For the first time, she started missing Loran.
If that annoying guy was here…
He would definitely use those irritating little magic orbs of his to draw Rennala’s attention.
Then she could find an opening and attack.
But he wasn’t here.
Kiro sat down heavily.
What should she do?
Give up?
Impossible.
She had already bragged to Loran.
If she went back now and admitted that she couldn’t even beat an old woman…
That would be way too embarrassing.
Kiro fell into deep thought.
In her understanding, if you couldn’t beat a boss, there were only two possibilities.
Either your level was too low.
Or your equipment was too weak.
She couldn’t change her equipment.
So the only option left was increasing her level.
She opened her attribute panel.
More Faith?
Probably useless.
Lightning Spear only tickled Rennala.
Frenzied Flame couldn’t even be used properly.
Then what?
An attribute she had ignored for a long time appeared before her eyes again.
【Luck: 10】
This attribute had first appeared after she defeated Flying Dragon Agheel.
At the time, Kiro had dismissed it completely.
A vague and meaningless stat like that was obviously inferior to something practical like attack power.
But now…
She recalled her previous “legendary moments.”
Fighting the dragon.
The dragon slipped on its own.
Fighting Godrick.
He accidentally chopped his own leg.
Could it be…
Was it really because of this “Luck” attribute?
Instead of wasting her points on something useless…
Maybe she should just…
Bet on it.
“Damn it. Screw it!”
Kiro gritted her teeth.
She poured all of her accumulated runes into the attribute she had never touched before.
【Luck: 10 → 15】
The moment she confirmed the upgrade…
A brand-new system notification appeared in her mind.
Unlike the previous cold numerical notifications, this one appeared as a fantasy-style selection window decorated with a three-leaf clover.
【Detected first growth of the “Luck” attribute.】
【Passive Ability System Activated.】
【Please select one of the following “Blessings of Fate” as your exclusive Lucky Talent.】
【Effect: Passive.】
Whenever you enter a new area, the surrounding environment will “coincidentally” create an extremely dramatic atmosphere for you.
For example:
When you walk into an abandoned house, lightning will happen to strike outside the window at exactly the right moment, illuminating your gloomy face.
【Description: “I’m not trying to look cool. I was simply born with background music and special effects.”】
【Effect: Passive.】
Whenever you share a meal with your teammates, the last and best piece of food—
such as the final chicken leg or the last piece of crispy meat—
will always “coincidentally” end up belonging to you.
【Description: “Sharing? Impossible. This is simply fate’s arrangement.”】
【Effect: Passive.】
In any non-life-threatening competition or lottery—
such as racing, rock-paper-scissors, or deciding who washes the dishes—
you will never become first place.
But you will also never become last place.
You will always remain in the position of “second.”
【Description: “Forever second? No. This is called stability.”】
