He carefully unlocked the sealing rune and flipped open this mysterious Chapter.
The first sentence that came into view shocked him:
"Necromancy, also known as the study of life and death, is an ancient discipline that investigates the essence of life and the truth of death.
Contrary to the misconception of ordinary people, the core of necromancy is not merely the manipulation of corpses or the creation of undead creatures.
Rather, it is an exploration of the boundary between life and death, understanding the essence of soul structure and the rules of energy conversion."
The King of Revelation wrote insightful opinions at the beginning of the Chapter:
"In my travels across various worlds, I discovered that death is not the end of life, but another form of existence.
Those so-called ’dead’, have actually entered a dimension that our perception cannot directly reach.
The true significance of necromancy lies in establishing a bridge of communication between the living and the dead, revealing the most fundamental mysteries of existence in the universe."
The Great Wizard Gould added a historian’s rigorous annotation elsewhere:
"According to my investigation in the archives of the Court of Truth, necromancy was an important part of wizard civilization during the First and Second Era.
At that time, necromancers made great contributions to fields such as medicine, archaeology, and soul research.
After the ’eternal plague’, necromancy was completely banned, leading to a huge gap in our research on soul theory and the essence of life.
This kind of practice due to fear is truly regrettable."
Ron pondered as he read.
As a researcher about to become a historian, he resonated deeply with Gould’s perspective.
The lessons of history are certainly important, but completely prohibiting a discipline is akin to cutting off one’s arms.
As he delved deeper into the reading, he found the necromancy system even more complex and profound than he imagined.
This isn’t simply "summoning skeleton legions" or "mass-producing zombies."
It is a profound discipline that involves the essence of life, soul structure, energy conversion, and the boundaries of consciousness.
[Theoretical Foundation of Necromancy]
"Necromancy is built upon three core theories:
First, the Law of Soul Immortality:
The consciousness core of intelligent creatures continues to exist in some form after physical death, just transferred to a different dimension of existence.
Second, the Principle of Life and Death Conversion:
A controllable energy conversion mechanism exists between life and death, through specific magic and rituals, interaction between the two states can be achieved.
Third, the Hypothesis of Materialized Memory:
All experiences and knowledge leave material traces in the soul, which can be extracted, transferred, and reconstructed."
The Eye of Observation inserts an analysis here:
"Through precise calculations, the theory of necromancy and modern spiritual mechanics, soul engineering have a 67.3% overlap.
This indicates that necromancy is not pseudoscience but a well-founded comprehensive system.
The main reason for its prohibition is political rather than academic."
Upon seeing this, Ron’s heart surged with excitement.
This discipline, which emphasizes both theory and practice, is precisely the research direction he is most interested in.
Unlike other branches of wizardry, necromancer is not a standardized profession, but a highly individualized research direction.
Every necromancer chooses different specialized fields based on their interests and talents.
There were large sections yet to read, but Ron already felt mentally overloaded.
He decided to look further into the back section.
After flipping a few pages, he encountered content that made his heart race.
Undead - The Supreme Achievement of Necromancy
"Undead, the highest achievement of necromancy, and also the most dangerous choice.
Through the ultimate exploration of life and death boundaries, the undead gain the ability to truly surpass death.
They neither entirely belong to the world of the living nor the realm of the dead, but exist in a special state at the intersection of both."
The King of Revelation listed the characteristics of the undead:
"According to records, the undead possess the following abilities:
Near-eternal lifespan, powerful soul manipulation, mighty perception that crosses the boundaries of life and death..."
Ron’s breathing gradually became rapid.
These capabilities are the ultimate state a researcher dreams of achieving.
But the subsequent description cooled his excitement gradually:
"Traditional views believe that the cost of becoming undead is enormous and irreversible.
First, there is the complete loss of emotional experience, second, the total isolation from social relationships, and most terrifying, the eternal loneliness and mental torment..."
However, the King of Late Bell then added an important supplementary explanation:
"The aforementioned traditional understanding contains certain misunderstandings due to reasons of the era.
The true process of undead transformation is not the simple harsh ’cutting off emotions’, but an extremely complex and precise soul engineering project.
Through a series of special necromancy rituals, precious traits such as memory, emotion, personality can be stored in specific soul containers beforehand.
Upon completion of the transformation, these stored traits will reintegrate into the existence core of the undead.
Allowing them to retain complete humanity and emotional experience while gaining the ability to transcend death.
This process is similar to ’backing up and reinstalling’ the soul, achieving both hardware upgrades while preserving the original software traits."
Upon seeing such detailed explanations, Ron rekindled his interest:
"If one can truly maintain complete humanity..."
As he closed the Chapter on necromancy, Ron’s emotions became intricate.
