Chapter 1239: Section 1240 Lifting the Curse
Odeclass was indifferent by nature and normally paid little attention to others. Since the incident with Binaqionse, he had become even less concerned about the outside world, and naturally, he wasn’t curious about Feng’s origins.
All the information about Feng came from Feng himself.
Above all else, Feng often mentioned that he was a painter who walked through the Abyss to paint different landscapes.
Besides that, Feng also mentioned he had a friend who was a Half-Blood Demon, one who had obtained the full inheritance of the Fire Transmission Demon, and this friend was the one who ran the Hunting Museum in Lassudral at night. When Feng spoke of this matter, he added with a smile, “Staying by Binaqionse’s side, her emanating frost power will slowly erode your own source of fire, which is a great harm to you. If you want to solve these shortcomings in the future, you might consider seeking out my friend.”
However, Odeclass was unwilling to leave Ice Valley, so he put out word that if anyone could bring him the Fire Transmission Stone, they would earn his friendship.
But, the Fire Transmission Stone was an extremely rare treasure with a significant use, so why would others simply hand it over.
Thus, hundreds of years passed until Angel came along.
When Angel heard about this, he already roughly understood that Feng saying these things to Odeclass was certainly a setup for a trap, and the person entering the trap was likely himself.
This indeed matched with the information he later acquired from the innkeeper of the night.
For Feng had also set a constraint for the innkeeper: Feng once told the innkeeper that the painting he had left for Night could not be completely engulfed in flames until a certain time had passed.
And that time was when someone came looking in his name.
If Night within the painting could not be turned into a sea of fire, then the innkeeper of the night could not take that step, so he was also waiting for the person Feng had referred to.
It was at this moment that Angel “happened upon” the scene and lifted this constraint for Night.
Clearly, the trap Feng had laid was now connected to the matter with Odeclass.
“It seems that I am indeed the person Feng set up in the trap. But is the person who entered the trap anyone, or was it necessarily me?” Angel felt that it might be the latter, but if his participation was inevitable, then this matter made him feel a sense of panic. It felt as though an invisible hand of fate was manipulating his life’s path.
Angel had seen some records about “prophecies,” and even the Prophet Wizard had said that fate fluctuated and wasn’t absolute.
But Feng setting up this trap hundreds of years ago made Angel feel an illusion of fatalism.
Moreover, to this day, Angel still didn’t know what Feng wanted him to do by entering the trap or whether he was still in the trap or had already left it.
There was another question: If Feng could set up this trap, it indicated that he must possess some form of precognition. So, was Feng really a painter?
Apart from the aforementioned matters, Odeclass also told Angel another piece of information: Feng seemed to have mentioned that he came from the “Turing Magic Cube.”
But what exactly this “Turing Magic Cube” was and where it was located, Odeclass did not inquire.
Perhaps to know the truth about Feng, one would need to find this “Turing Magic Cube.”
About Feng’s case, these were the only details Angel could sort out, essentially of no use, but undoubtedly, he might be a character on a stage crafted by Feng—important or not, he didn’t know; the outcome, he didn’t know; whether he was still in the trap, he didn’t know.
But if he was still within the trap, then perhaps there was a place that might hold proof.
The Tidal World!
The Tidal World was inside the Treasure Vault of the golden sparrow royal family, with a passage smaller than a mouse hole leading to its entrance.
And the one who left this information was Feng. Currently, only Angel knew of the Tidal World’s existence, and since it was related to Feng, perhaps by visiting the Tidal World he might find clues Feng had left behind.
However, to enter the Tidal World, one first had to master the Shapeshifting Technique.
Angel didn’t think he could learn the Shapeshifting Technique in a short period and could only hope that the Pliant Worm queen could hatch a Transforming Soft-bodied Insect.
…
Two days went by.
During this period, Odeclass did not appear, and Angel stayed in the Ice Crystal Palace, constantly by Toby’s side.
Toby, suspended in the middle of the hall, had a flame on his body so diminished from two days prior that it was almost invisible. As the flame weakened, Toby’s aura became cleaner and cleaner.
Although Angel could not sense what “Calamity” was like, he had spent many years with Toby and had developed a sense of shared fate. He had once perceived a taint of corruption and gloom on Toby, but now, this feeling of gloom had vanished and was much clearer.
When the last of the firelight on Toby was extinguished, he slowly fell from the air, and Angel immediately stepped forward to catch him.
It was then that Odeclass, who had not shown himself for two days, suddenly arrived at the Ice Crystal Palace. He approached and quietly observed Toby. Finally, he nodded to Angel, who was filled with expectant eyes.
“The curse on it has been fully cleansed,” Odeclass said indifferently.
Joy erupted in Angel’s eyes, all the effort of the past month was for this moment!
“Thank you, Lord Odeclass!” In his joy, Angel did not forget to express his gratitude to Odeclass.
Angel tenderly stroked Toby, helping to smooth his slightly disheveled feathers… however, after a long while, Angel’s expression suddenly stiffened, he realized something—Toby’s curse may have been cleansed, but he appeared not to have woken up yet?
Angel looked at Odeclass with confusion.
Odeclass’s answer was concise and powerful, “I don’t know.”
“Anyway, the curse has been lifted; perhaps there are some side effects. Or maybe… he’s just sleeping.”
Angel took Toby back to the room, placing him on the table. Looking at Toby’s calmly rising and falling chest, confusion was in Angel’s eyes.
Although Odeclass had personally admitted that the curse had dissipated, why hadn’t Toby woken up yet?
Was it really as Odeclass said, that Toby was just sleeping?
Angel decided to give it a try.
He prepared to enter Toby’s dream to see what was happening.
The last time he entered Toby’s dream, Toby had dreamed he was at a seaside manor. In that isolated manor by the sea, a series of strange events occurred.
In the dream, Toby was filled with jealousy and indulgence, behaving completely differently toward the people in the manor, including the Head Maid Mana, Ollie, Lyon, Jon, and even his good friend the Moonbell Sprite.
Beating, cursing, slandering.
The only one not subjected to these emotions was the “Angel” in the dream.
At the time, Angel didn’t know what had happened and could only guess if Toby had some grievances in reality that were magnified by the Domain Field of the emotions in the Shadow Cave, bringing out the darker side of his psyche and resulting in these dream scenarios.
Later, after learning that Toby was afflicted by the Calamity Curse, Angel understood that these negative emotions in the dream could have been caused by the curse.
Now that the Calamity Curse was gone, might Toby’s dreams be better?
With this thought, Angel released “Enter Dream” towards Toby.
Crossing the long Dream Bridge, Angel found the entrance to Toby’s dream and slowly cast himself into it.
However, the moment Angel entered his dream, he found that a flood of information surged into his mind like a deluge.
Instantly, Angel felt an overwhelming pressure in his head.
Angel immediately understood, had his entry into the dream been noticed?!
Frode had repeatedly warned him that the one thing to avoid when entering dreams was being spotted by the dreamer, for some dreamers are completely unaware of what they do in their dreams, and even if you are their closest person, you might inadvertently become trapped forever in their dream.
Therefore, in dreams, try not to interact with the dreamer, unless you’ve mastered “Dream Control,” and have seized the dream privileges from the dreamer.
Obviously, Angel had not mastered the top-level technique of Dream Control, and even if he had, facing the onrush of tidal information, it would have been difficult to control the situation.
However, he was fortunate that he was only halfway into the dream, and the entry point behind him had not yet been closed by the dreamer. With the situation being critical, Angel, enduring the ceaseless stream of information drilling into his brain, rushed back to the Dream Bridge, returning to reality.
With great difficulty, the Dream Tentacles returned to the body, and as his thoughts realigned, the information in his brain became even more burdensome. Angel felt dizzy, and in the next second, he collapsed to the ground.
…
Angel had a very uncomfortable dream.
In the dream, he felt as if countless people were whispering in his ears, their voices filled with malice.
Negative emotions surged in Angel’s heart, and he couldn’t help but roar out in agitation. Perhaps his voice was too loud, startling the terrifying creatures lurking in the darkness.
From the depths of the darkness, a cold vertical pupil opened.
Under that cold gaze, Angel felt the rage in his heart intensify, even reaching a state of hysteria.
Just as Angel felt he was about to fall into the endless darkness, a warm breath touched him, gradually guiding him out of the darkness…
Angel suddenly opened his eyes, gasping loudly.
It took a while for Angel to slowly come to his senses, only then realizing that he had been dreaming.
His eyes were filled with fear – that had been a dream that made him feel as though he was on the verge of madness, terrifying beyond belief!
If it hadn’t been for the sudden arrival of that warm breath, it would have been difficult for him to struggle out of that darkness.
Warm breath?
Angel was stunned for a moment. He had felt the warm breath in the dream, but it seemed he could still feel it now?
With curiosity, he reached into his inner pocket and pulled out a drop of bright red Blood Pearl.
At that moment, the Blood Pearl was twinkling and shining, and with it came that warm breath.
