Chapter 1231: Section 1232: Begin Refining
“`
However, just like when Angel first entered the Ice Valley, Odeclass paid no heed to Popota at all.
His expression was proud and indifferent, with a transcendent air of disdain for everything.
He glanced coldly at Angel without a word, raised his hand, and a light arc mysteriously appeared in front of Angel.
The arc of light had an attracting force; before Angel could understand what was happening, he found his body uncontrollably sucked into it.
When he regained his senses, Angel realized he had arrived in another space, and Popota had also been brought over.
It was still a room made of ice crystals, and looking out the window, it seemed to be above the Crystal Palace. However, unlike the desolate Crystal Palace, here Angel saw many traces of “life.”
Wooden craft long tables and chairs, porcelain tableware on the table with delicate patterns, candle holders filled with ice flames still flickering ostentatiously, and there was even a plate with half-eaten black bread.
As Angel was observing the surroundings, a message entered his mind.
It was a transmission from Odeclass.
The content of the transmission was simple, just casually telling Angel that this room was left for his use as an alchemy room, and also informing him that the previous owner of this room was… Feng.
Straightforward and taciturn, it really was Odeclass’s style. Originally, Angel thought that Odeclass might ask some questions, such as how he obtained the synthesis method for the Fire Transmission Stone, what he encountered on the way… but Odeclass asked nothing.
“This seems to be, Magic Bread?” While Angel read Odeclass’s transmission, Popota was observing the half of the bread on the plate.
Popota carefully prodded the bread in the plate, which was cold and hard.
Looking over, Angel, based on Odeclass’s transmission, said that since Feng had left, no one had entered this room, meaning: “Unless something unexpected happened, this Magic Bread must have been left here hundreds of years ago. Do you want to try it?”
Popota immediately shook his head, “Black Magic Bread just looks unsettling—who knows what it tastes like.”
Popota’s words reminded Angel of the Magic Bread he had made, which was also black. As for its taste… it was definitely not the smell of stinky socks; it was the flavor of aged cheese! Yes, the flavor of cheese!
“Angel, you seem to know where this is?”
“Above the Crystal Palace, a room Lord Odeclass has lent us for temporary use.” Angel paused, “Right, the previous owner of this room is said to have been a great Legendary Wizard.”
Legendary Wizard? Popota subconsciously withdrew his hand from prodding the bread. The people who reached the status of Legendary Wizard recorded in the books all had peculiar temperaments; who knew if they had left any dangerous traps behind.
Angel, on the other hand, did not think Feng would have left traps here since this was still Odeclass’s territory. If there really were traps set, Odeclass would not have put them in this room.
“Next, we should be staying here temporarily, let’s take a look around what will be our residence for a while.”
The space here was large, with several rooms, and they appeared in a place similar to a main hall. Through the corridor outside the door, they could go to other rooms.
However, this corridor was exposed to the elements, with wind and snow outside, so Popota could not go out alone.
The Flame Mark on Angel’s earlobe emitted a radiance that enveloped them, allowing them to cross the corridor eroded by the cursed blizzard and reach the other rooms.
There were two bedrooms, one studio full of empty easels, and several other rooms with unclear purposes, furnished somewhat like classrooms, with nothing but tables and chairs for decorations.
Angel chose one of the rooms resembling a classroom for his alchemy room. As for Popota, he stayed in the adjoining bedroom. Originally, the plan was to have Popota assist, but since Odeclass showed no interest in Popota, there was no need for Angel to pretend.
Without wasting time, Angel immediately began working on the synthesis of the Fire Transmission Stone.
Before starting the alchemical process, Angel took out all the materials he had obtained, the most abundant being the pieces of the Fire Transmission Stone that at a glance looked like a small mountain pile.
Besides that, there were many other auxiliary materials.
Angel took out the scroll he had exchanged from Baltica, which recorded the synthesis method of the Fire Transmission Stone.
Initially, when he told Odeclass that he was an alchemist and should be able to synthesize the Fire Transmission Stone, he was actually nervous inside because it was an empty boast at the time. After all, even with the synthesis method from the Fire Transmission Demon, there was no guarantee of success.
It should be noted that even for Fire Transmission Demons, the success rate was extremely low. The original method of synthesizing the Fire Transmission Stone was stumbled upon by the ancestors of the Fire Transmission Demons by accident. The process was very rough, using large amounts of materials haphazardly, which is why the success rate was not high.
If Angel had really, as Odeclass suggested, gone to the Night Innkeeper to acquire the method of synthesis, not to mention whether the Night Innkeeper could break the restriction imposed by predecessors and share the method with him, even if he did share it, Angel would probably have needed a long time to recalibrate the quantities of materials used in the process, a task that would have taken an indeterminate amount of time.
Fortunately, he first went to the Land of Rest and exchanged for this scroll from Baltica.
On the back of the scroll, an ancient human recorded another method for the synthesis of the Fire Transmission Stone in common language, and also conveyed the synthesis process in terms of alchemy.
The quantity of the materials had already been calibrated, and it also pointed out and rectified the shortcomings in the “primitive synthesis method” used by the Fire Transmission Demons, which could greatly increase the success rate of synthesizing the Fire Transmission Stone.
“`
It’s not just that. One of the main reasons why Fire Transmission Stones have become increasingly scarce, even difficult for Fire Transmission Demons to synthesize, is because many of the materials involved are so rare and special that even Fire Transmission Demons rarely manage to collect them.
But this Alchemist’s ancestor was clearly a very outstanding researcher, who not only analyzed the role played by these precious materials during the synthesis process but also identified more common materials that could replace them.
Indeed, if this scroll were to become public knowledge, even an average Alchemist would stand a chance to synthesize Fire Transmission Stones.
Of course, the prerequisite being they could obtain three irreplaceable materials: Earth Vein Firestones aged over a thousand years, the indestructible burning bones of Dark Gold Nightmares, and White Ash Fire Solvent concocted from hellish ghost flame.
The first two are relatively easy to acquire, but the “White Ash Fire Solvent concocted from hellish ghost flame” can only be made by Fire Transmission Demons. So for the average Alchemists, it remains merely ‘a chance’ to synthesize them, not a guarantee that they actually could.
In the following days, Angel began to study the scroll.
Time slowly passed by, and the roaring wind and snow outside made it impossible to discern day from night.
Angel himself lost track of morning and evening, but he set an alarm on his holographic tablet, allowing him to take breaks for meditation and continue building the “Gate Model” inspired by the Eye of the Sky during his research.
Three days later, Angel finally put down the scroll in his hands.
In truth, the method of synthesis recorded on the scroll was not that difficult. After all, it was based on the primitive techniques of Fire Transmission Demons, and knowing their limited knowledge, one could guess that their methods of synthesis were quite basic. Thus, even when converted into Alchemy, the process didn’t involve overly complicated maneuvers.
However, despite Angel’s collection of numerous materials, he had only enough fragments of Fire Transmission Stones for two attempts at synthesis, meaning he only had two chances. If he failed, he would need to find a way to collect more fragments of Fire Transmission Stones once again.
Therefore, he had to be extremely cautious.
On this day, having made sure he memorized every step and deliberated over each detail, Angel finally decided to begin synthesizing.
He took out various synthesis tools from his bracelet and arranged them on a makeshift experimental platform transformed from a table.
He then took a deep look at Toby, who was sleeping quietly to the side.
Angel took a deep breath, and a flame gently began to burn in front of him.
In his mind, he had simulated the synthesis process countless times, so when it came time to physically execute it, his movements were swift. Several Hand of Magic, shadowy as illusions, hesitated not for a moment, whether performing delicate maneuvers or selecting materials.
The light of the fire continuously flickered before his eyes as one precious material after another was seamlessly integrated into the orb of light.
On the holographic tablet, time ticked away little by little…
…
While Angel was synthesizing the Fire Transmission Stone, on the surface of the Abyss, in the grey layered zone, a cross-layer gate was slowly pushed open a crack.
A figure flew out from the cross-layer gate.
Wearing black Nobility’s dress attire, it highlighted his stature as very tall and elegant.
He was Sanders, who had hurried from Sky Island to the surface.
Upon reaching the surface, Sanders stood still for a moment, sensing the location of his essence blood.
Previously, because of the barrier between layers, the sensing had been very inconvenient, and he could only vaguely detect that the essence blood was on the uppermost layer without knowing the exact direction.
But once he was on the surface, the sensing became very clear.
“Not far away!” Sanders’s eyes brightened as he looked towards the north.
He estimated that if he flew at full speed, he would arrive in no more than a day and a half. Considering the vast expanse of the Abyss surface, that was truly not far.
Sanders roughly calculated Angel’s location in his mind.
He found that Angel was precisely in the Ice Valley!
Angel’s presence in the Ice Valley seemed reasonable, as he had previously mentioned to Sanders that he had a mission from Odeclass. But if one were to delve deeper, how had Angel managed to escape after being kidnapped by Popota, followed by a Demon God? And how did he so smoothly reach the Ice Valley in such a short time?
Keep in mind, less than a week had passed since the destruction of Lassudral! Even if Angel hadn’t been kidnapped, the time it took Fafnir to return him from the Void to the Ice Valley would have been more than a week!
Connecting this to what Belus had mentioned, Sanders conjectured that this time not only had Angel avoided disaster, but he might have also gained a fortuitous opportunity.
“Whether it’s a stroke of fortune or not, I just hope there won’t be any more trouble,” Sanders sighed softly, and his figure vanished from the spot, flying towards the direction of the Ice Valley.
