Chapter 1208: Section 1209: Sense of Affection
The dense green mist was carried by the gentle wind to all parts of the continent.
The specks of light fell directly to the ground.
Everything was being restored.
Angel even saw that these specks of light barely kept Popota’s collapsing body from giving its last breath.
The only thing that Angel found regrettable was that, even though he was standing closest to them, these light specks didn’t bring him any benefit. In fact, they didn’t even touch him.
Even if he intentionally tried to intercept them, the light specks would avoid him.
Seeing this situation, Angel could only sigh in his heart, perhaps because these light specks were only useful for the injured. Angel, on the other hand, had no injuries on his body at all. He could even sense that his current physical state might be said to have reached its peak since his birth.
All the old and necrotic cells in his body had been purged in the continuous recasting before, and Angel felt every drop of blood, every cell, was filled with unprecedented abundant energy.
With a strong physical foundation, Angel even had the illusion that even if he were to face an Official Wizard now, he dared to show how he could beat one.
Angel looked down and clenched his fist, the feedback from his muscles and bones, as well as the sound of air created by his grip strength, all indicated the earth-shattering change in his own body.
This transformation made him secretly think: maybe it wasn’t an illusion that his physical abilities had surpassed those of an Official Wizard; he didn’t know how strong his body’s strength actually was now.
Since these light specks didn’t benefit him anyway, Angel simply fell into deep thought about his own power.
As Angel focused on sensing himself, time slowly passed.
After a while, maybe half a day, or maybe one day, two days…
The falling light specks had disappeared, all the cracks in the land had healed, and the floating mist of light had vanished as well.
Even the blowing wind had ceased.
All that remained was the bare trunk glowing green.
It was then that the last of the trunks burst into a dazzlingly bright light.
With the bright light came surging energy floods, kicking up thousands of strands of white mist. Even Greerwu had to forcefully interrupt the process of trying to unlock hidden powers and fly away to the distance in the face of this energy flood.
Because of the light specks’ restoration, Popota had managed to halt his body’s collapse for the moment, but the energy within him that wasn’t his own had almost completely disintegrated, so he couldn’t flee. He could only forcefully press down on the earth to create a hole to hide in.
This energy flood was extremely fearsome, like light-energy buckshot scattering in all directions at great speed, giving the continent its final energy nourishment.
However, what surprised both Popota and Greerwu was that this flood, which could prove disastrous with the slightest carelessness for them, didn’t affect Angel in the distance at all.
Angel stood within the strong light, where light and shadow visibly intersected, yet he was unmoved.
The strong light came quickly and dissipated just as quickly.
When the halo faded, the “trunk” also disappeared. The space before him lay empty, with only Angel still standing quietly.
…
At this moment, if one looked at this sealed continent from the Void, one would distinctly see that the once massive tree shadow that shocked the Abyss had become countless rays of green light, shrouding the continent.
The powerful beings in the Void who had long since turned their greedy eyes here felt a sudden thump in their hearts at this sight.
“Damn! The True Spirit Force is going to be taken by the faint consciousness of the continent!”
As this thought emerged, all those coveting in secret began to take action.
They had previously assumed that the unknown strong entity who may have killed the Demon God’s True Spirit would take these True Spirits, so they dared not act and were merely watching from afar.
But now, seeing the True Spirit Force nourishing the continent, they immediately realized that perhaps the unknown strong entity had left.
Otherwise, why would such a powerful force be left for a dying land of Deathly Stillness?
If the continent was about to collapse, it meant that the continent’s faint consciousness was not strong, and it could not possibly take away the True Spirit Force in the face of that unknown entity. But now, the True Spirit Force seemed to have scattered throughout the entire continent, indicating that the unknown strong entity had gone.
They reasoned by analogy that if they were in its place, they would never leave the True Spirit Force for the continent’s faint consciousness.
With this thought, these shadowy watchers immediately couldn’t help but want to head to that continent in hopes of seizing the True Spirit Force.
Countless figures flew towards the continent shrouded in green light.
Each figure represented the pinnacle of power in the Abyss, including a great many Demon Lords!
However, when these figures tirelessly tore through the space, wanting to descend upon this continent, they discovered that someone had already “beaten them to the punch.”
And that someone was an entity they could not provoke, and dared not provoke.
…
“The True Spirit Force has completely disappeared?” Greerwu felt the surroundings, dumbfounded.
The air still faintly pulsed with the power of the True Spirit, but those fluctuations were already nearly gone.
It was only then that Greerwu suddenly understood that the series of actions the shopkeeper had taken just now were to disperse the True Spirit Force across the continent… Greerwu had no understanding of the continent, so he had no idea why Angel had done this.
Greerwu simply felt it was a pity.
Just a bit of True Spirit Force had fallen into its body, smoothing over its injuries and almost unlocking the hidden power within. If it could have obtained more True Spirit Force, wouldn’t it have ascended to the heavens in one step?
Greerwu’s fantasies were splendid, but it knew that with its current strength, it simply couldn’t contain any more energy.
Although Greerwu felt regret, since things had already progressed this way, it let it be.
Besides, the right to distribute True Spirit Force didn’t belong to it.
With this in mind, Greerwu stopped its wishful thinking and lifted its head to look into the distance.
Now that the True Spirit Force had all disappeared, did it mean that peace had returned? Greerwu glanced at Aoluxiya’s spirit in the distance, pondering… Should it go and take it now?
However, Greerwu hadn’t made any move when a sudden change occurred—
Clouds appeared from nowhere, rumbling ominously as they filled the sky.
When a flash of lightning lit up the horizon,
A grand and enormous divine presence enveloped this continent.
“This feeling… it’s the Abyssal Will!” Greerwu raised its head to look at the surging dark clouds in the sky, its eyes filled with terror.
Why would the Abyssal Will suddenly descend?
In Greerwu’s memory, only when events that could overturn the world took place would the Abyssal Will appear. For instance, when bestowing the authority of the Demon Lord’s throne, or when a new Demon God was born… Only then would the Abyssal Will come forth.
But now, with no Demon God born and no Lord advancing in rank, why would the Abyssal Will manifest?
Greerwu’s confusion could probably only be explained by Angel.
Angel, feeling the magnificent divine presence, finally let go of the tension in his heart. It was just as the message left by that person had said: once he had spread the True Spirit Force across this land, the will of the Abyss would appear.
With the emergence of the Abyssal Will, it also meant that he was temporarily safe.
The nearly collapsing continent was now brimming with vitality. For the world consciousness, this was a positive event, and only after the land had recovered from its state of collapse would the world consciousness dissipate.
During this period, it was absolutely impossible for outsiders to enter, and he didn’t have to worry about danger from elsewhere.
Angel looked back at his surroundings, still the same brownish-red barren land with no apparent changes. He had thought that the reinvigorated continent would be lush with vegetation, blooming flowers, and cascading waterfalls; it seemed he was mistaken.
It seemed that the vitality of the continent was not determined by its natural landscape.
Pitter-patter—
Following another lightning strike, a downpour suddenly began.
Rain threaded into white curtains, and a great amount of steam rose from the distant Magma pools.
The smell of sulfur at the tip of his nose gradually turned into the fresh scent of rainwater. Angel raised his head to look at the sky. Although the dark clouds were rolling and lightning snakes were darting through, inexplicably, he felt that the previous deathly stillness in the sky had vanished.
Soaked in this rain, Angel didn’t feel discomfort but instead felt a sense of pleasure deep within his heart.
Especially since the minute sound of rainwater seeping into the earth made Angel’s pleasure even greater.
Angel pondered carefully for a moment and then realized the source of his pleasure. It was not the rain itself, but the land beneath his feet.
Unknowingly, he seemed to have formed a strange connection with this world.
Extremely intimate.
Could it be that because he had released the True Spirit Force to nourish the earth, this wonderful connection had formed?
If one were to treat this continent as a sort of creature, in a sense, Angel had saved a being that was on the brink of death.
So the diffuse consciousness of this land felt intimacy towards Angel?
Angel vaguely sensed that perhaps this was why that person didn’t unseal the Sparkling Green Tree themself but instead entrusted the task of unsealing it to him?
Perhaps this was the truth, but Angel was still somewhat confused—could there be any benefit to feeling an intimate connection with this land?
This question was quickly answered.
For Angel soon discovered the first benefit of feeling an intimate connection with the continent’s diffuse consciousness.
When he was on this land, it seemed that he was not affected by the Abyssal Will.
The coming of the Abyssal Will made all the creatures on the land feel its divinity. Angel could feel it too, but he was only inwardly shocked by the Abyssal Will; he did not suffer any other negative effects.
Greerwu and Popota looked completely different now; under the coverage of the Abyssal Will, Greerwu bowed its head, trembling slightly but still able to move; while Popota was in a worse state; as a being from the Otherworld, he faced even greater oppression, almost lying flat on the ground, unable to move his hands or feet.
As far as the Abyssal Will was concerned, Angel was also a being from another world, but now he was unaffected.
“It looks like this benefit isn’t too bad,” Angel murmured to himself, then started to walk towards Toby’s location.
