Although Zhou Wang is not the largest shareholder of Jiahui International, with Wang Chunsheng backed by the Hong Kong Capital Consortium, he doesn’t think he will be unsteady in the dean position, but there’s no need to offend Zhou Wang like this.
Just as Xu Qing wanted to ask more questions, some commotion suddenly erupted from down the hallway, accompanied by incessant cries of "Mr. Zhou," and Jian Zhuoran and others went over to greet him.
She instantly realized that Zhou Wang had come out of the private room, so she didn’t bother with Wang Chunsheng anymore, quickly checked herself in the mirror one last time, and then stood up.
Xu Qing was momentarily puzzled as Wang Chunsheng, a man in his fifties or sixties, suddenly moved swiftly, more eagerly than herself, to greet Zhou Wang.
"Didn’t this old guy say he had bad legs?"
Xu Qing grumbled inwardly and hurriedly followed along.
When they arrived, Zhou Wang was already surrounded by Jian Zhuoran and the others.
"Mr. Jian, everyone."
Zhou Wang waved his hand, speaking first before Jian Zhuoran and the others could say anything, "Something unpleasant happened today, sparked by me, so let me treat this meal and compensate for the damaged hotel furniture antiques..."
Their "That’s not necessary" hadn’t been voiced when someone was quicker.
"That’s not necessary!"
In slightly less than perfect Mandarin, laced with strong onion flavor, yet clear enough, Elva jumped in front of Zhou Wang, eagerly trying to shake hands with him.
"Mr. Zhou, rest assured, you don’t have to spend a penny today. Also, please kindly accept this Hilton Honors Diamond Card, which entitles you to the highest privileges at all Hilton Group hotels worldwide. I have personally donated ten thousand US Dollars for Mr. Zhou..."
Looking at Elva’s somewhat flattering smile, Zhou Wang couldn’t help but give him a teasing glance.
Others around were also a bit stunned, as Elva wasn’t a Huaxia person, and theoretically the least in need of currying favor with Zhou Wang, but clearly, Elva seemed to have gone through an unknown inner process.
Zhou Wang vaguely guessed something, but didn’t say more, just nodded, accepted the Diamond Card, and casually tossed it to Xu Wenqian behind him.
Elva felt relieved, only now noticing his back was drenched in cold sweat. Considering the recent call from Hilton Group headquarters, he knew all too well that if Zhou Wang chose not to forgive him, his career would end here as well.
Zhou Wang wasn’t being particularly magnanimous, simply lazy to haggle with such insignificant people at the moment.
"Mr. Zhou, today’s meal indeed wasn’t pleasant. Our fault for not choosing the right place. How about we pick another day..."
Jian Zhuoran couldn’t help but speak again.
"Let’s talk later. It depends on my upcoming schedule."
Zhou Wang said casually, "It’s getting late. Mr. Jian, you should all head back and rest early."
Hearing Zhou Wang’s implicit refusal, Jian Zhuoran and others were greatly disappointed, but there was nothing they could do... The only solace was that Zhou Wang didn’t turn hostile immediately, leaving a slim chance for maneuvering.
At this moment, Shi Tian’s eyes rolled urgently, and she quickly said, "Then we won’t disturb Mr. Zhou anymore... Just, Mr. Zhou, how about letting Feifei stay to chat with you?"
Zhou Wang glanced at Bai Feifei who didn’t hide her anticipation, noncommittal.
Seeing Zhou Wang seemingly consent, Shi Tian was immediately overjoyed, pulling Bai Feifei aside for a few whispered words.
Jian Zhuoran, Zhao Zeyi, and others were incredibly envious, especially Jian Zhuoran, who couldn’t help but glance at his son, Young Master Jian, with a hint of resentment in his eyes. Why didn’t he have a beautiful daughter?
Young Master Jian, caught in the crossfire, seemed to feel his father’s sentiment and could only blink innocently.
Once Jian Zhuoran and party left reluctantly, only Bai Feifei remained, wrapped in a coat, snuggling up to Zhou Wang’s side, and indeed, only two people were left on-site.
"Mr. Zhou..."
Wang Chunsheng greeted Zhou Wang awkwardly.
But causing him a chill was that Zhou Wang didn’t look at him; his gaze was fixed on Xu Qing.
"Mr. Xu hasn’t left yet?"
"I just wanted to see Mr. Zhou, though it seems there’s not much of importance..."
Feeling flattered, Xu Qing hurriedly smiled, then remembered something, "Oh, by the way, I just had a phone call with Mr. Wang, he asked me to send you his regards."
"Wang Ruixi?"
Zhou Wang looked at Xu Qing in surprise, then nodded, "I haven’t seen him for a while. Actually, I’ve been forgetting to reply to his messages..."
Hearing Zhou Wang’s indirect acknowledgment of his relationship with Wang Ruixi, Xu Qing finally felt reassured, her heart in turmoil.
She realized she was right to wait.
Ginkgo Capital had several shareholders behind it, and Xu Qing was merely their spokeswoman.
The largest shareholder among them was the Cloud Trust Huaxia Foundation.
In truth, Xu Qing wasn’t qualified to call Wang Ruixi; she actually dialed the phone of an assistant under Wang Ruixi who held a director position at Ginkgo Capital...
Claiming to have talked to Wang Ruixi was just a boast.
About two months ago, Xu Qing inadvertently saw a post from that director, featuring an official publicity photo of Zhou Wang taking office at Wuyou Media in Hang City, with some congratulatory words.
Xu Qing was merely curious at the time, since the director essentially represented Wang Ruixi and rarely posted similar updates, it was from there she began paying attention to Zhou Wang.
And through her recent call to that director, from the tone of his voice, it was evident that while the director wasn’t familiar with Zhou Wang, his words were filled with reverence, which definitely matched that when mentioning Wang Ruixi, or even exceeded.
This caused Xu Qing to speculate wildly, seeking further evidence, and birthed an incredible idea.
Which is that this young man before her is far more mysterious and powerful than what they witnessed tonight.
Now hearing Zhou Wang mention Wang Ruixi with such casual tone, the intense excitement shot through Xu Qing’s body like electricity...
She was almost unable to stand steady.
