"Qi Kai, after decades of friendship, is this how you treat me?!"
In the now-empty and disheveled private room, Yu Zetao grabbed Qi Kai’s collar in anger and questioned him.
All the suppressed rage from before finally erupted at this moment, and Yu Zetao was practically ready to kill Qi Kai.
"Old Yu, I wronged you; I’m not even human..."
Qi Kai said, his face dark and clouded, "At this point, no matter how much I explain, it won’t help. If beating me up a bit will ease your anger, then by all means, I won’t evade it."
"You..."
Yu Zetao trembled with anger, yet he was helpless.
After a few seconds of stalemate, he finally let go of Qi Kai and sat down dejectedly.
Yu Fei and Mrs. Yu were also furious, but for the moment, they really didn’t know what to do with Qi Kai.
Having hit rock bottom, Qi Kai seemed entirely unperturbed, like a dead pig not afraid of scalding water. Were they really going to kill him?
At this point, it was Yu Duo who spoke up, "President Qi... did you really sell our factory and equipment?"
"The factory and equipment were indeed sold by me at a low price a few days ago... I’m sorry, Duoduo, Uncle Qi really didn’t mean to harm your family..."
Facing Yu Duo, Qi Kai looked increasingly guilty.
"President Qi, how much did you sell them for at the time?"
"Forty...forty million..."
"Forty million?!"
This incredulous questioning came from Yu Zetao, "When I had those assets appraised, their total value was nothing less than seventy million. How could you sell them for forty million?"
"I... I had no choice at the time..."
"No choice?"
Yu Zetao was about to furiously question further, but Yu Duo pulled him back.
"President Qi, could you contact the buyer again for us and say we want to buy back the assets..."
Under the astonished gaze of Yu Zetao and the others, Yu Duo said somewhat bashfully, "I can... I can go ask him for a loan... Um, if I ask him nicely, he might... should help me, right?"
Upon hearing Yu Duo’s words, Yu Zetao and the others finally realized why she was inquiring about the whereabouts of those assets.
The "he" Yu Duo referred to was naturally the mysterious Mr. Zhou Zhou Wang, who was still negotiating with He Jinglun next door.
In an instant, hope rekindled in the eyes of Yu Zetao and the others.
Indeed, they nearly forgot about this matter.
That mysterious Mr. Zhou, who was not only powerful but also managed to subdue prominent figures like Director Gao with a mere gesture—figures they could only look up to—seemed to offer little resistance from the formidable He Family in the Magic City.
The most crucial aspect was that he publicly acknowledged Yu Duo as his woman, which means the likelihood of Zhou Wang assisting them was as high as ninety-nine percent.
For him, it seemed like a simple favor.
As long as they could retrieve the factory and equipment, there was hope for a comeback.
Thinking of this, Yu Zetao quickly stood up and urgently asked Qi Kai, "Old Qi, surely you have the buyer’s contact information, right? You should make a call right now and ask..."
"I..."
Faced with the urgency of Yu Zetao and the others, Qi Kai hesitated, but finally confessed under Yu Zetao’s persistent questioning.
"I actually don’t know who the buyer is..."
"You don’t know who the buyer is?"
The shocked Yu Fei was the first to question, "How is that possible? Are you trading with air? Even in a reckless transaction, there should be signatures and records. How can you not know the buyer?"
"I really don’t know... I conducted the transaction in a club. The club acted as an intermediary and protected the privacy of both buyers and sellers. I have no contact information for the other party and don’t even know their name..."
Yu Zetao was stunned, "Then...then couldn’t you contact the club and ask them to help with reaching out to the buyer?"
"It’s not possible..."
Qi Kai smiled bitterly, "The club might be different from what you know. Let me put it this way: with my previous assets, I barely qualified as a regular member there. If I request their assistance, they simply wouldn’t entertain it."
"I can’t believe that. This is a multi-million dollar transaction. No matter how impressive the club is, they can’t ignore our demands, can they?"
Yu Fei exclaimed loudly, "If necessary, we’ll find a lawyer for help, and if that doesn’t work, we’ll file a lawsuit. I refuse to believe that they could deny us just a contact number!"
Qi Kai gave a pitying glance at Yu Fei. Yu Fei, once a wealthy second-generation, still failed to comprehend the immense power and background required to establish a truly top-tier club.
In Qi Kai’s mind, the capital represented by the boss behind the Building No.9 Club was no less than a behemoth like the He Family, maybe even more so...
Many influential figures wouldn’t allow any trouble to arise within that club.
"What if we ask Mr. Zhou to help us?"
Recognizing Qi Kai’s hesitation, Yu Zetao, experienced with life’s complexities, made a suggestion.
"Old Yu, forgive my bluntness, but even with Mr. Zhou’s intervention, it might not work... It’s not that I doubt Mr. Zhou, but the club has certain fundamental rules. For instance, they only admit members over 35. Also, Mr. Zhou mentioned it’s his first time here in the Magic City..."
