After Tianmiao got in the car, the Housekeeper drove for a while before Tianmiao suddenly spoke up: "The shock absorbers on this car aren’t good enough. Let’s get a better car."
The Housekeeper immediately replied, "Yes, next time I’ll get you a different car." There were plenty of cars in the garage, so they could choose one that was smoother later.
"Star God, would you like something to drink?" Ling Xiao asked, then suddenly felt a bit foolish. Star Gods don’t eat or drink. They exist more like spiritual entities.
"What’s in the car?" Tianmiao asked instead. "By the way, my name is Tianmiao. You can call me Tianmiao, though of course, if you want to call me ’the most esteemed one,’ that’s fine too."
The Housekeeper filled with question marks in his mind. What was going on?
Ling Xiao was momentarily stunned upon hearing Tianmiao’s response, then quickly regained his composure and calmly poured some red wine for Tianmiao. "Great Lord Tianmiao Star God, please enjoy."
The Housekeeper was flustered all the way but still drove steadily back to the ancestral mansion.
The Ling Family’s ancestral mansion was located by the river in this city, occupying a large area and being a true garden-style luxury home. The main building faced the river, a river-view property in a city where every inch of land was valuable.
Ling Xiao’s bedroom was on the highest floor of the main building, with large floor-to-ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of the river.
And now, this room with the best view belonged to Tianmiao.
After getting home, Ling Xiao instructed the servants to clear out the bedroom and replace it with furnishings suitable for a lady.
The Housekeeper was filled with question marks again. Aren’t Star Gods supposed to stay in their dedicated dwelling places when they descend? Star Gods don’t eat or drink, nor do they sleep. (Although the most powerful Star Gods are exceptions.) So why does the young master’s Star God need to stay in the best room and indulge in fine food and wine? It completely upended his understanding.
However, the Housekeeper quickly adapted and even adjusted better than Ling Xiao did.
Ling Xiao was actually quite capable himself and even without a Star God, he could fight against the dark forces. But without a Star God, he had to adhere to the Star God Society’s ridiculous rules and would have lots of good stuff confiscated.
After returning to the ancestral home, the Housekeeper received many calls, all of which were congratulatory and apologetic.
Congratulations were a given.
The apologetic calls came from people who wanted to purchase Ling Xiao’s shares.
The Ling Family was very wealthy, with shares in many companies.
The status of Star Warriors has always been unique. While Ling Xiao’s grandfather was alive, these people would only try to curry favor with the Ling Family. But after his grandfather passed away and Ling Xiao was unable to summon a Star God, they thought the Ling Family had no successors and became less polite. Some came to request buying shares with decent attitudes, while others weren’t so courteous.
Now, no matter what type of person they were, they all called to congratulate and apologize.
This put the Housekeeper in a good mood, and he was planning to dye his hair in a couple of days, turning his white hair black. Yes, people tend to feel more spirited when happy things happen.
After receiving these calls, Tianmiao’s status in the Housekeeper’s mind rose once more.
...
In the spacious bedroom, Tianmiao sat in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing at the riverside scenery. Kong Hou lay on the carpet, happily playing games. Finally, back in a world with advanced networking, games could be played again.
Dong Xiao was mixing drinks for Tianmiao. The Housekeeper personally pushed in a service cart with various drinks on it, and of course, a bucket of ice was also prepared. Initially, he was going to prepare the drinks himself for Tianmiao, but Tianmiao waved him off. He decided against having an elderly human serve him like this.
