Morcant felt humiliated after Verc matched his mana release and cancelled it out.
He felt like he was being looked down on.
Even though he was the only demon king with no army—the other demon kings didn’t dare to look down on him. After all, he was strong.
That’s why—this fledgling of a demon king in front of him—was hitting all his nerves and making him angry.
He was surprised with the sudden wave of mana Verc released earlier to match his, but he already knew that Verc was much weaker than him way before. He felt it and sensed it as soon as he walked through the castle gate.
’He probably overexerted his body just to match my mana release earlier. Trying to throw me off by making himself appear stronger than he actually is.’
Morcant thought to himself.
’After all, there’s no way he became stronger in an instant.’
He added, flexing his hands and making dark, sharp claws extend from his fingertips.
"LET’S SEE HOW STRONG YOU REALLY ARE WITH THAT ARROGANCE OF YOURS!!!"
BAM!
With an angry smile on his face, Morcant dashed off toward Verc.
It was fast, but it’s not something Verc couldn’t follow. Morcant knows this as well—he deliberately made himself a bit slower.
Although he was angry, he was still keeping a calm head in this fight—
FWIP!
Verc raised his sword seeing the crimson demon approach.
Seeing that—Morcant smiled.
Then, when he was just a few meters away from Verc—
FWISH~
He suddenly vanished!
What was left where he was before was just some red mana particles! He didn’t move fast, he literally vanished like a bubble bursting from thin air!
And in the next moment—FWOOSH!
He reappeared behind Verc!
This was Morcant’s special skill—[Teleportation]!
He intentionally made himself slower to make Verc think that he can respond to his attack, and by letting his guard down—Morcant plans to launch a surprise attack that can end the fight in one go!
So smile was on his face—SWOOOSH!
He swung both his claws, aiming to cut off both Verc’s arms!
Though, just before he reached Verc—
"Oh, so that’s how you use it."
Morcant heard him mutter that.
And in the next seconds—FWISH~
Verc disappeared from his sight! His presence, his figure, even his shadow was nowhere to be seen!
All that was left where he was before... was some red mana particles.
"?!!"
Morcant’s eyes widened seeing that. A bad feeling loomed over him.
But before he could even do something—
FWOOOSH!
Verc appeared behind him—SLASH!
And cut his back diagonally down with a heavy swing!
"GURGH?!!"
Morcant was able to use his tail to try and block Verc’s sword, but he was a beat late and was still hit—but because of it, he survived without a major injury.
He stumbled forward before turning to look at Verc. His eyes still wide, face confused.
And then, a seething rage erupted from him.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?! HOW CAN YOU USE THAT AS WELL?!"
He asked, demanding answers from Verc.
Verc just looked at him, then all of a sudden—FWOOSH!
He teleported in front of Morcant!
"And why would I answer that?"
TIIIING!
Verc launched a horizontal attack, but Morcant was able to block it with both his claws. Seeing Verc teleport for the second time, he was able to confirm that it was indeed the same skill as he has.
"YOU BASTARD!!!"
TIIIK!!!
Morcant exclaimed and forcefully swung his claws upward, making Verc skid back a few paces away.
He doesn’t know how Verc can use his skill, he doesn’t know why he’s suddenly a bit stronger than before.
But what Morcant does know—is that right now... he wants to kill Verc more than he wants to make him his subordinate.
’I don’t care if he’s a demon king anymore... I will completely erase him!’
Morcant thought, his black eyes bloodshot with absolute hatred.
"GRAAAAAAAHHH—!!!"
He let out a loud scream, more like a pained one, and along with the scream... was a huge wave of dark mana concentrating on Morcant’s body.
The dark mana swallowed him whole, as if wanting to consume him, and after a while—Morcant used another of his skills—[Beast Transformation].
"GURGH!!!"
The dark mana started reforming the crimson demon’s body and form. His body expanded, and his limbs extended. The dark mana became his supplement and his muscle became thicker and stronger.
CRACK! CRACK!
The sound of bones breaking and extending echoed horribly inside the hall. The red skin on his torso stretched past its normal limits, and his spine arched forward as two massive front legs slammed onto the stone floor.
Morcant transformed from a humanoid demon—into a massive four-legged red demonic beast that looks like it came from hell itself!
And along with his size—his overall strength grew as well.
The air inside the castle lobby became suffocatingly heavy, so dense that the stone walls began to crack just from the pressure radiating off the newly transformed monster. Morcant’s thin tail had turned into a thick, whip-like appendage tipped with a razor-sharp bone spike. His red wings folded tightly against his enlarged back, and his jaw split wide, revealing rows of jagged, blood-dripping fangs.
ROAAR—!!!!!
A deafening roar shook the entire castle structure, sending dust and small rocks raining down from the ceiling.
Verc stood his ground, holding his sword with a firm grip as he looked up at the giant beast standing before him.
’His physical output jumped up significantly...’
Verc analyzed silently, his mind remaining sharp and cold.
’He completely threw away his humanoid agility for sheer destructive power and mass.’
The massive red beast glared down at Verc, two glowing black eyes burning with pure, unbridled malice.
In this form, his reason and intelligence will drop by a lot--but his destructiveness will shot up. Morcant discarded his reason out of pure anger and hatred of Verc.
’I WILL KILL YOU AND DESTROY EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAD BUILT!!!’
That was what in Morcant’s head. Though when he opened his mouth--
ROOOOOOOOOAAARRR!!!
All that came out was a loud, creepy roar that echoed not just through the castle--but throughout the village that Verc and his people had built.
