Chapter 140: You don’t need to waste your precious time on me.
His teasing only made it worse. She was trembling for the release. And he was not giving that to her.
"I want..."
His fingers touched her where she had been craving the most. "Uh..." she moaned again instead of completing the sentence.
She thought he would finally give her the release she had been craving. But his fingers drifted away, moving upward.
She lifted her head slightly and looked at him, only to see him smirking.
"You didn’t tell me what you want, my love," he said with a playful glint in his eyes.
Elena remembered what he had said earlier.
He had said he would make her beg.
She dropped her head back on the pillow. "I am begging you," she managed. "Please. Fuck me hard."
Those words were all he needed.
His playful expression melted into one of overwhelming desire.
"As you wish, my love."
He entered her.
"Ah..." She cried at the sudden rush of sensations. Her back arched involuntarily.
"God, Elena. You feel so perfect."
He leaned down, drawing her into another lingering kiss as they surrendered to the love they shared.
The echoes of her cry filled the room.
"I love you, Elena," he whispered between the kisses.
Elena slipped her fingers into his hair as she kissed him back. "I love you too," she whispered. "More than words can ever say."

The next day...
Evelyn sat quietly in the chair beside her hospital bed. The bandages covering her eyes had yet to be removed. Though she couldn’t see, she could feel the cool morning breeze drifting in through the open window and the gentle warmth of the sunlight resting on her hands.
Losing her sight had sharpened her other senses.
The moment footsteps echoed outside the room, her ears instinctively perked up. As they drew closer, she turned her head slightly, assuming it was the nurse coming with her medication.
"How are you feeling today?"
A deep, familiar voice shattered her assumption.
Her body stiffened instantly. Her fingers tightened around the armrests of the chair.
"Why are you here?" she asked, her calm expression giving way to unease.
Ian stepped closer. "I came to see you."
Evelyn turned her face away. "You’ve seen me. I’m fine. Now leave. You don’t need to waste your precious time on me."
Ian closed his eyes for a brief moment. He had worried about her every day since he had learned about her accident and the blindness. He had even assisted during her surgery. Yet the one thing she wanted least was his presence.
"I have some free time," he said quietly. "I thought I’d stay with you for a while."
A bitter laugh escaped her. "Dr. Whitmore has free time for me? That’s surprising. I’m honored."
Her sarcasm struck him harder. His heart ached.
"I don’t need you anymore," she continued coldly. "I don’t need you to take care of me. So please... leave."
Ian clenched his fists, struggling to keep his composure.
"I know you are angry with me," he said. "I shouldn’t have left you and Leo back then. But it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Every doctor dreams of getting that chance. I couldn’t bring myself to turn it down. It changed my career. Everything I’ve achieved today is because I accepted that opportunity."
"You only cared about your career," Evelyn snapped, cutting him off. "What about me? What about Leo?"
Her voice trembled violently.
In an instant, she was dragged back to the day he had left for overseas, leaving her alone with their son.
That decision had shattered her heart. It had convinced her that no matter how much she loved him, he would never love her the same way.
It became the final straw that drove her to file for divorce. Yet even after ending their marriage, the pain had never truly left her.
Seeing her so overwhelmed, Ian immediately regretted coming here to see her.
"Okay... calm down," he said gently as he crouched before her. He reached for her hands.
She jerked away as though burned. "Don’t touch me."
Ian slowly withdrew his hands.
"Alright." He gave a small nod. "I won’t touch you. Please don’t cry. You just had surgery. I won’t disturb you anymore. I’m leaving."
He stood and turned toward the door. The sound of his retreating footsteps twisted something deep inside Evelyn.
She was furious with him. She didn’t want him near her. Yet the thought of him leaving hurt even more.
"How is Dr. Maya?" she suddenly asked.
Ian stopped.
"When are you marrying her?" Her lower lip quivered.
She couldn’t bear the thought of him belonging to another woman. But she no longer had any right to stop him.
After all, he had never truly loved her.
Ian slowly turned around, disbelief written across his face.
Even now, she still believed he had been involved with another woman.
Throughout their marriage, he had explained countless times that there was nothing between him and any of his female colleagues.
She had never believed him. Every explanation had only led to another argument. She had even confronted several female doctors simply because they worked closely with him.
It had embarrassed him. It had also been one of the reasons he had accepted the overseas transfer.
"Why would I marry Maya?" he asked, his voice noticeably colder. "She is my colleague. My friend. Nothing more."
"No relationship?" Evelyn let out a mocking laugh. "You abandoned Leo and me because of her. And you are still telling me there was nothing between you?"
Ian released a weary sigh.
How many times had he tried to explain himself? Why had she never trusted him?
He was exhausted. Still, he refused to argue with a woman who had only just undergone surgery.
"Don’t think you can fool me, Ian," Evelyn continued bitterly. "I’m not that naïve. She resigned right after you left and joined the very same hospital overseas."
She laughed bitterly.
"You left first, then she followed you. You thought I’d never find out. You thought you could keep me in the dark."
"For God’s sake, Eve... stop." His patience finally snapped. "I won’t let you accuse an innocent person."
He drew a slow breath before continuing, "Maya went there for specialized training. It had nothing to do with my transfer. We hardly even met."
"Of course, that’s what you’d say." Evelyn’s heart ached.
She remembered everything. Before leaving the country, Maya had come to see her.
She had happily told Evelyn that she would also be joining Ian’s hospital abroad. Then she had shown her a message from him.
’Congratulations, Maya. I’m glad you’ll be here. I won’t feel so alone in a foreign country.’
Those words had carved a wound that had never healed.
"You spent your days happily with her while Leo and I were left behind." Her voice cracked. "Now we are divorced. You are free to be with her. Isn’t that what you always wanted? So why aren’t you marrying her?"
