Chapter 1167: Trapped in the Ancient Castle
Hao Shuai furrowed his brows and thought hard, then said, "I couldn’t see it clearly either, the flying knife was too fast! It seemed to appear from thin air, anyway, it was terrifying."
"By the way, Chen Tianlong, don’t you think it’s strange? The old man who brought us food today seems familiar, like I’ve seen him somewhere before." Lin Wushuang suddenly remembered something.
"I noticed too, it seems to be the same guide old man."
Chen Tianlong thought for a moment and said, "Could it be the same person?"
Speak of the devil, and he doth appear!
The old man came again, and Chen Tianlong deliberately asked, "Is it you, old man? We’ve met before."
"Hehe, young man, it is indeed this old one." The old man answered truthfully.
"Oh? It’s really you, how come you’re here?"
Chen Tianlong remembered the old man had previously escorted them to the castle gate and then left, now suddenly appearing here, which seemed a bit odd.
"Haha, I am a hunter of this forest. The master of the castle captured all the birds of the forest and killed my old companion. For survival, for revenge, I sneaked in here."
As the old man spoke, his expression started to dim, appearing somewhat sorrowful.
"Don’t you hate him?"
At this point, Du Nong also chipped in, asking the old man.
"What’s the use of hating, you don’t know how powerful that person is, do you? Flying knives, deadly flying knives, never missing a target." The old man said helplessly.
The old man handed the food to Chen Tianlong, and at that moment Chen Tianlong noticed the old man had many slight knife injuries on his hands, and the leather coat, although old, was not torn, which didn’t seem like something a poor person would wear. He always had a smile on his face.
Chen Tianlong began to have doubts about him, finally, Hao Shuai’s injuries fully healed, and coincidentally, someone came to take them to the main hall.
Sitting at the head was a dignified-looking man, his subordinates all called him Kang Tailin.
But Chen Tianlong’s intuition told him, he was not!
The old man still stood on the side, and so the so-called Kang Tailin began to speak.
"Who are you people, and why did you come into my castle? You better come clean."
Kang Tailin asked very sternly.
"Hehe, greetings, City Lord, we are tourists here, seeing how beautiful the ancient castle is, and how special the castle gate is, we felt curious and so barged in, we truly apologize." Chen Tianlong casually fabricated an excuse and said.
"Hmph! Casual, I think you have a purpose, right? Speak quickly, or don’t blame me for being impolite."
Kang Tailin threatened viciously, because this was all his territory; frankly, he wasn’t afraid of Chen Tianlong and the others making a fuss.
"Oh? Then what do you think our purpose could be?"
Chen Tianlong didn’t answer directly but asked rhetorically.
"Who knows, maybe you’re trying to sneak in and steal something?" Kang Tailin sneered as he spoke.
"Haha, may I ask what here is worth us stealing? Your martial arts are so superb, wouldn’t we be courting death?" Chen Tianlong said deliberately.
"Haha, you sure pretend well, keep pretending, don’t think I don’t know, you guys are all experts, don’t forget I’m not a good guy either."
Kang Tailin said very disdainfully.
Hearing this, Chen Tianlong smiled slightly in his sleep, probably seeing through something.
If this person were truly Kang Tailin, he would not speak this way. From his words and actions, Chen Tianlong could judge that this person did not have the demeanor of a great leader.
And the legendary Kang Tailin was a master of knife skills and hidden weapons, how could he possibly praise the enemy?
On the side, Hao Shuai was already furious, and although Chen Tianlong urgently signaled to him, he was a quick-tempered person, remembered grudges, and it was this boy Kang Tailin who sent the flying dart that day, and the target of the mission to be killed was him too.
Hao Shuai couldn’t suppress the anger in his heart, drew his sword and started stabbing towards Kang Tailin.
At this time, Kang Tailin’s subordinates came to stop him, but Hao Shuai was not to be trifled with, with a few casual swings, those small soldiers and shrimp fell to the ground accordingly.
Only Kang Tailin met him face on to fight with Hao Shuai, after dozens of rounds, they were still evenly matched.
"Kang Tailin, hand over your life!" Hao Shuai shouted ferociously.
While the two were fighting, the old man secretly moved beside Chen Tianlong and Lin Wushuang, saying, "Quick, follow me!"
"We can’t leave Hao Shuai behind."
Although, Chen Tianlong had some grudges with Hao Shuai, but now they were members of the same war team, no one could be left behind.
"If we don’t leave now, none of us will get out, let’s think of a way out later." The old man dragged Lin Wushuang and the three little maidens away, and Chen Tianlong had no choice but to follow.
Outside the castle, the old man smiled and said, "This castle is about to turn into ashes, you’ll be able to leave soon."
"Where to go? We still have to wait for Hao Shuai?" Lin Wushuang said with a bit of doubt.
"To the Western Heaven, that guy has long been burned to death, that’s the fire set by my Divine Fire Shield, no one can withstand it." Saying this, the old man revealed his true form.
Chen Tianlong, as if lost in spirit, kneeled to the ground, bowed three times, and then said, "Hao Shuai, you gave your all, you are truly a great hero."
"Unexpectedly, you’re just a mediocrity, truly don’t know how my brother died at your hands."
After Kang Tailin revealed his true face, he continued, "Boy, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, I didn’t know you were so incompetent, had I known, I wouldn’t have been so cautious, go die!"
Saying this, Kang Tailin revealed a spear in his hand, thrusting it at Chen Tianlong. Chen Tianlong jumped back, immediately drawing the Dragon Slayer Sword, in the twilight’s glow, it shone with orange light.
Chen Tianlong exerted his strength, and with a swipe of the sword, formed an air current, rapidly flying towards the opponent.
Kang Tailin swung his spear, a powerful air current turned into a small tornado, also flying towards Chen Tianlong, after the two forces collided, an earth-shattering explosion was heard, with sand and rocks flying instantly.
The next moment, as the dust settled, Kang Tailin disappeared from Chen Tianlong’s sight.
Chen Tianlong stood firm, then focused his attention alertly in all directions, gradually closing his eyes, using his sensory abilities to react, this was faster than seeing.
Soon, dozens of darts shot rapidly from the air towards Chen Tianlong. At first, he was startled, then quickly soared, and the Dragon Slayer Sword, in his spin, blocked them.
At the same time, Chen Tianlong’s Flame Dragon-Slaying Sword was unleashed.
Only, Kang Tailin was truly elusive, far superior to the previous Kang Taike. Suddenly appearing in mid-air, as Chen Tianlong happened to land.
In an instant, a batch of darts attacked Chen Tianlong again.
Chen Tianlong was greatly startled, had no choice but to use Ghost Shadow Flash to swiftly escape, after making a circle, he returned to the original spot. Then he watched Kang Tailin not far away with vigilance, feeling somewhat breathless.
Too much physical strength had been consumed just now, if it goes on like this, there certainly won’t be much chance of beating Kang Tailin.
However, Chen Tianlong’s Nine Yang Celestial Dragon Technique could restore physical strength and Powerful Qi, so he wasn’t too worried.
But, this wasn’t a good method, the physical strength consumed in battle was the greatest, relying solely on restoring physical strength to deal with the enemy, that was the worst strategy.
