Chapter 1147: The Mystery of the Case
Moreover, this child was personally brought to the island by him. At that time, he was wandering the streets, extremely destitute. Pure Yang Daoist couldn’t bear to see it, so he brought him here to settle down.
Later, he was favored by two elders, accepted as their closing disciple, and trained with them, which is why he became so powerful.
Pure Yang Daoist still trusted Xu Wei, so he said, "Xiaomin, without evidence, you can’t jump to conclusions."
"But Sect Leader, I can’t think of anyone else besides him."
Du Min said somewhat sullenly.
The chubby man was speechless, dammit, if you can’t think of anyone else, don’t stuff it onto me. Why don’t you say you did it? You’re closer to your father.
However, Xu Wei only thought about it in his mind, he wouldn’t dare to say it aloud, as the person was, after all, the family of the Vice Sect Leader.
Chen Tianlong put down the book on the table, finding nothing suspicious. He walked to Du Fei’s corpse and bent down, when suddenly a faint fragrance filled his nose.
Since learning the Nine Yang Celestial Dragon Technique, Chen Tianlong’s sense of smell had become extremely keen, able to distinguish various odors in the air.
However, this one was rather special, it felt like some scents found in a woman’s room.
But, as Chen Tianlong knew, the scent of general spices would gradually fade one to two hours after leaving a fixed space. Even if it hadn’t completely faded, it would be a faint, almost non-existent feeling.
But for Chen Tianlong, this almost non-existent feeling was different from others, allowing him to catch this breakthrough point.
So Chen Tianlong thought to himself, "If my deduction is correct, Du Fei must have been in a woman’s room within the past two hours before coming back.
Based on the current intensity of the scent, it seems like it was not long before he came over, approximately within half an hour before the body was discovered."
At this moment, a servant hurriedly walked in from outside, saying, "Madam, young master, I was....."
He had just begun to speak when he suddenly noticed Young Master Du Nong standing nearby, so he immediately froze and dared not speak further. Seeing this action, Du Min walked over and said, "Xiaohu, go ahead and say it, what’s going on?"
"I......"
The man called Xiaohu lowered his head, still somewhat afraid, not daring to speak.
At this time, Pure Yang Daoist walked over, patted Xiaohu’s shoulder, and said sternly, "Speak up, I am the Sect Leader, are you really afraid of anyone here?"
Seeing it was the Sect Leader, Xiaohu was startled, hurriedly saying, "No... it’s not that, I mean... I just went to tidy up the room and saw something in Du Nong’s bedroom."
"What was it? Quickly, Xiaohu!" Du Min, already envious of Du Nong, felt there might be a handle now that Xiaohu had mentioned it, intending to use the opportunity to fix him.
"Looks like a dagger with fresh blood on it..."
As Xiaohu said this, he glanced towards Du Nong, not seeing much of a reaction.
Chen Tianlong had also been observing; Du Nong was very calm, as if he hadn’t heard this news.
But suddenly, his expression changed, and he said with a silly smile, "Heh, I knew you guys wanted to frame me, why? If you want to kill me, just do it, why do you have to kill my father, he’s the only family I have in this world!"
Chen Tianlong’s heart trembled, feeling that things weren’t so simple, but for the moment he couldn’t figure out what seemed off.
At this time, Pure Yang Daoist furrowed his brows. He also didn’t believe Du Nong was the murderer, but if what Xiaohu said was true, things were indeed messy.
"Alright, let’s not jump to conclusions. Let’s go over there and have a look." Pure Yang Daoist said.
At this moment, he felt very complicated inside. If Du Nong were really being framed, the material evidence was there, making it incredibly difficult to clear his name.
So, the group went to Du Nong’s bedroom. Chen Tianlong still walked in the rear. As soon as he stepped over the threshold, he intentionally sniffed the air inside the room and found that it didn’t have the fragrance he had detected on the deceased earlier.
Pure Yang Daoist entered the room, and Xiaohu took a dagger wrapped in a white cloth bag from Du Nong’s bedding, indeed stained with blood. Pure Yang Daoist touched it and sniffed, confirming that it was the weapon used to kill the Vice Sect Leader Du.
"Hmph, Du Nong, explain to me whether you killed father, why was this dagger on your bed?" Du Min erupted after seeing it.
"Heh, why was it there? How should I know? After killing my father, you want to silence me, people are truly vicious." Du Nong did not elaborate further but cursed the murderer.
Chen Tianlong noticed Du Min lowering his head slightly, as if realizing he had gone too far, so he didn’t speak further. Suddenly, Peng Niang rushed over from behind, pushing Du Nong and cursed:
"You cursed brat, you must have harbored a grudge against your father because of your mother’s death, don’t think I don’t know, your father accidentally injured your mother that year, causing her death. So you’ve always resented that, haven’t you?"
"Hmph, you’re talking nonsense. I forgave my father long ago, and that incident was voluntary on my mother’s part. My father has been so good to me, how could I hurt him, please don’t falsely accuse me."
Du Nong was somewhat angry at this point, though he wasn’t afraid of death, he feared being wronged.
"Then how do you explain this?" Peng Niang didn’t say more, directly presenting this ironclad proof.
"How would I know, it’s definitely to frame me, I..."
By this time Du Nong was a bit anxious, "Besides, my skills are no match for his, how could I kill him?"
"Hmph, who knows if you used some trick to confuse him, then acted," Du Min suddenly interjected.
Hearing this, an idea flashed through Chen Tianlong’s mind, overflowing his thoughts, "Could it be that Du Fei was killed elsewhere and dragged back? But the bloodstains on the ground are all fixed, there are no traces of blood elsewhere?.....wait"
Seemingly knowing something, Chen Tianlong continued deducing, "Could he have been stunned in another room, then supported back to Du Fei’s room, and then his throat slashed?"
Thinking here, Chen Tianlong found this deduction relatively reasonable, so his mind raced on how to lure out the murderer.
Moreover, considering the time when the deceased’s throat was slashed, it should have been in a relatively close place, and earlier that fragrance was clearly feminine.
"Right, a woman? The women residing in Du Family Mansion, and those close to the Vice Sect Leader, isn’t that...." Thinking here, Chen Tianlong felt a chill; this was too intricate, could it be spouse murder?
"I said it wasn’t me who killed my father, please don’t wrong me, alright?"
Du Nong had become very anxious by now.
"Hmph, you say it wasn’t, and it isn’t? Now that the evidence is conclusive, besides, would any murderer ever admit they killed someone, wouldn’t that be idiotic?"
Du Min figured this opportunity to overthrow Du Nong’s status in the Du Family, marking an excellent chance for himself to be promoted.
Du Nong thought it over and made a decision; he couldn’t be caught, this way he’d never uncover the truth of his father’s death, so he took strides to run.
"Where are you going, you murderer?"
Du Min had been watching him, seeing him turn to flee, immediately reached out to grab him.
Just then, Du Min grabbed his shoulder, then pulled, delivering an elbow strike to Du Min’s stomach, pushing him out a distance, then strode forward to leave.
At this moment, Pure Yang Daoist appeared in a flash in front of Du Nong, "Xiao Nong, you cannot leave, this way you’ll be forever unable to clear your name of patricide."
