Chapter 1124: Preparing to Register
Yan Nanfei was a real expert, a Celestial Dao Seven Stars at Great Perfection. Other than those few seniors from the Celestial Pill Sect, probably no one could match him.
After Chen Hai left, the five girls took Mo Jing and followed Yan Nanfei out of the supermarket. Just as they reached the entrance, they saw a figure rushing over at high speed. That person was, of course, Chen Tianlong.
He almost couldn’t brake in time and practically threw himself forward, but Lin Wushuang directly stepped up to meet him and grabbed Chen Tianlong in a hug.
"Wushuang, are you trying to get yourself killed? What if I hit you and kill you?" Chen Tianlong took a deep breath and scolded.
"Oh, even if I die from the crash, I still have to hug you." Lin Wushuang looked up and gave Chen Tianlong a charming smile. At this moment, she felt that Chen Tianlong actually looked pretty cute when he was angry.
"All right, is Mo Jing okay?" Chen Tianlong didn’t waste time, he started looking toward Mo Jing, only to suddenly notice his master Yan Nanfei right in front of him: "Whoa, Master, what are you doing here?"
Chen Tianlong was pleasantly surprised, hurried over and said, "Master, what wind blew you here, old man?"
"Haha, this old man heard the Celestial Pill Sect was about to hold a trial, so I came to join the fun. Didn’t expect to run into you lot." Yan Nanfei stroked his white beard and laughed.
"Hehe, Master, I bet you knew we’d be coming ages ago, and you deliberately ’ran into’ me and the Frost Realm, didn’t you?" Chen Tianlong joked, though he really did know Yan Nanfei must have come for some reason.
It was just that since Yan Nanfei didn’t say, he didn’t plan to ask more either.
"To tell you the truth, I didn’t come for the trial. You know my level—those people wouldn’t take me!" Yan Nanfei gave a wry smile. Coming this time, he did have a bit of business, but nothing too big.
"Mm, Master, take care of your health. Since you’re here already, just go look around and have fun." Li Bingshuang didn’t ask much either, and said with a smile.
"Haha, that I can do. But I’ll go buy some daily necessities first. See you back at the hotel later, I already know you’re staying in the VIP hotel." Yan Nanfei suddenly remembered he still hadn’t bought his stuff, so after greeting everyone, he went shopping on his own.
Everyone watched this elder’s back with wry smiles, then returned to the hotel together.
After this incident, Chen Tianlong decided to move Mo Jing, sending her back to South Sea City. Of course he wasn’t escorting her in person; he just put her on a plane, then called Mr. Huang to receive her, and had Mr. Huang send her directly to Master Fang Yan in Ice City.
This way, even people from the Celestial Pill Sect wouldn’t dare go against Fang Yan lightly.
Just like that, two days passed in a flash. These two days they didn’t really go out and wander; apart from going out together at night to have some fun, the rest of the time they were in their rooms playing games and cultivating.
Very soon, it was the last day for registration.
"Chen Tianlong, we need to go register. Otherwise once it hits midnight, the Celestial Pill Sect’s trial registration will be over." Yan Nanfei thought Chen Tianlong had forgotten and gave a casual reminder.
"Heh heh, I remember. I’m planning to go this afternoon. No point rushing this kind of thing. Those who already signed up are probably all holed up in the hotel the Celestial Pill Sect arranged, anyway." Chen Tianlong chuckled.
"Seems so. From what I know, once you sign up, they arrange for you to stay in their hotel, and the expenses are sky-high—three times the price of outside hotels." Yan Nanfei didn’t bother to hide anything; after all, Chen Tianlong was his disciple.
"Damn, that’s such a scam."
Chen Tianlong couldn’t help but curse. So the trial was basically a money-making operation.
Listening to Elder Yan, each trial session had people spending a ton of money. Just the registration fee alone was ten million, plus lodging and food and all that, which would add up to over a hundred thousand at least.
Although their prizes were really tempting, Chen Tianlong didn’t think many people could actually pass.
"Oh right, Elder Yan, do you know what the pass rate is for the trial each year?" Chen Tianlong asked curiously.
"Well, in the past, there were quite a few times when no one passed at all, or occasionally just a few passed."
"..."
After hearing that, Chen Tianlong was speechless. What kind of crappy setup was this? Hundreds of people going in for the trial and only a few making it out—weren’t they basically raking in money?
You really had to hand it to the Celestial Pill Sect; they knew how to make a profit.
"Then... why do they all still go for the trial? Isn’t it just like gambling—use ten million to bet on winning a hundred million, and the odds are so low. Are they all idiots?"
Chen Tianlong said, baffled.
"Hehe, Tianlong, that’s where you’re wrong. Most people who join the Celestial Pill Sect’s trial aren’t aiming for the prize. They have another purpose." Yan Nanfei said ambiguously.
Hearing that, Chen Tianlong frowned. There was another purpose?
"What purpose?"
Chen Tianlong grew even more curious. He’d heard from Tan Tian before that the Five Elements Evil Qi inside could stabilize attributes, but most people didn’t have attribute physiques. What use would it be to them?
"They use the Evil Qi in the Five Elements Extreme Realm of the Celestial Pill Sect to break through themselves." Yan Nanfei explained.
"So it’s the Evil Qi."
"Yes, Evil Qi."
"Elder Yan, isn’t Evil Qi harmful to the body? I even heard it contains a lot of Poisonous Qi, and once you absorb it, it’s easy to have a qi deviation and fall into Demonic Possession. Why would people risk it?"
This part, Chen Tianlong actually knew a bit. But he’d come this time to stabilize the attributes in his body, and also to help the Five Elements Yinzi stabilize and break through to a new level.
"Yes, it is harmful. But even so, people still take the risk, because it’s the best chance to break through a bottleneck. Especially those breaking through a tier—like Celestial Dao level Five Stars trying to reach Six or Seven Stars. If they rely only on Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi, it’s impossible. Even a Qi Gathering Pill is useless; they’d need a Super Qi Gathering Pill."
"But right now, Super Qi Gathering Pills are basically insanely precious on the market. A single one costs several hundred million, and probably almost no one can afford to use one." Yan Nanfei said with a bitter smile.
"So Evil Qi has that kind of effect. Looks like we have to participate." Chen Tianlong gave a faint smile.
"Oh? Tianlong, you also need to use Evil Qi to break through?"
In Yan Nanfei’s view, Chen Tianlong upgraded insanely fast and didn’t need Evil Qi at all, so why now?
"Elder Yan, you don’t know. I’ve got quite a few attributes on me. Master Tan Tian told me to come stabilize them, so..."
"So that’s how it is."
Yan Nanfei finally understood. "You decide for yourself, but be careful. Those guys from the Celestial Pill Sect bear you some grudges. They might try to obstruct you when the time comes." Yan Nanfei warned.
"Got it."
Chen Tianlong grinned and went back to his room.
Around three in the afternoon, he took the five girls out, grabbed a taxi, and headed for the Celestial Pill Sect.
Before long, they arrived at the main gate of the Celestial Pill Sect.
However, since it wasn’t time for the trial yet, they couldn’t enter the Celestial Pill Sect itself and had to go to the Celestial Pill Hotel about a kilometer away from the sect.
