Chapter 1109: Tan Tian’s Family Affairs
But Tan Tian just didn’t want to be the patriarch.
"And then what happened?" Chen Tianlong curiously asked.
"After that, my elder brother had no choice but to take the position because our father said before his passing that among his four sons and one daughter, only I and my elder brother Tan Yifeng were capable of leading the Ancient Tan Family. Now that I’m gone, my elder brother must take over, or else our father wouldn’t rest in peace!"
"So, my elder brother took over the position of patriarch," Tan Tian recalled.
"Yes, your brother is a good person; the Ancient Tan Family should also be doing well now," Chen Tianlong said lightly.
"Ah, mentioning this matter gives me a headache. After I left, my elder brother took over, but my second and fourth brothers were unhappy. They thought our father was biased, so the two of them teamed up against my elder brother. Their conspiracy was found out by our third sister, who planned to report it, but they caught her and killed her."
Tan Tian showed a trace of pain, the greatest agony in life is seeing one’s siblings kill each other.
The third sister was a good person and treated every sibling well, yet the second and fourth brothers killed her for money.
"Ah, my condolences," Chen Tianlong didn’t know how to comfort him.
"Hmm, later my elder brother got so angry that he relinquished the patriarch position, took his son Tan Batian, and fled abroad, never stepping foot in Huaxia again. He felt he couldn’t face our deceased father and my sister."
At this point, tears flowed from Tan Tian’s eyes.
"Alright, so later did you go abroad to find your elder brother?"
"I did, but couldn’t find him. It seems like he changed his name; anyway, it was as if Tan Huaifeng vanished from the world. I don’t know where he went, but I know my elder brother was very powerful. Forty years ago, he was already a Seven-Star in the Celestial Dao, surely he’s not dead."
Tan Tian suddenly realized he had lost a bit of composure; they were initially talking about the Alchemy Furnace, and the topic had deviated.
However, what Tan Tian said would greatly help Chen Tianlong in the future.
"Really amazing, being a Seven-Star in the Celestial Dao back then, even better than my father. After all, your brother was a generation older than my father, he must have been quite a figure," Chen Tianlong praised with a thumbs up.
"Yes, my father and Yan Nanfei were contemporaries. Back then, my elder brother Tan Huaifeng was famed for his Lightweight Skill and Hidden Weapons, the two were known as the Twin Evils of Hidden Weapons, and they ranked first on the Hidden Weapons List, with the Soul-Stealing Three Needles and Tan’s Flying Knife," Tan Tian said.
"Phew~"
Chen Tianlong took a deep breath, he hadn’t expected his master Yan Nanfei to be connected to Tan Huaifeng.
"Alright, let’s get back on track. These are all past matters, it’s the era of young people now. I believe you, Tianlong, will surely surpass them," Tan Tian said with a smile.
"Haha, absolutely," Chen Tianlong grinned.
The two began to study the Alchemy Furnace, around 1 PM, Chen Tianlong received a call from Lin Wushuang, saying she wanted to go shopping with him. Chen Tianlong thought it over and decided the current matters were more important.
If they could really produce a large amount of Super Qi Gathering Pills, even if diluted, they could level up twice. This way, the young inheriting girls could directly upgrade to the Celestial Dao level, and he could also benefit and upgrade himself; it was decisively excellent.
"Wushuang, I’m discussing alchemy matters with Master Tan, how about I accompany you tomorrow, okay?" Chen Tianlong explained.
In fact, Lin Wushuang wanted to go with her best friend to buy lingerie in the city today. Recently, for some reason, she had been growing a lot, especially in the upper area. In just two months, her old lingerie no longer fit, which left her a bit anxious.
If not for receiving a call from Liu Ting about Chen Tianlong investigating Wu Mengting, she wouldn’t have been in such a rush to find him.
"Huh? You’re at Elder Tan’s house? Oh well, I’ll let Xiaoyu accompany me. You take care, but can you... come accompany me tonight?"
Lin Wushuang seemed accustomed to Chen Tianlong holding her while sleeping. Now they were also a couple and had met family, so she thought Chen Tianlong should spend more time with her.
"Haha, of course, I’d love to. But be careful, even though it’s free, it’s pretty dangerous," Chen Tianlong teased, and Lin Wushuang could definitely catch on.
"Humph, who’s afraid of who? I’m just afraid you won’t dare," Lin Wushuang replied boldly.
"Exactly, Tianlong, you better not back down. We are two people, don’t weaselly run away then. Hehe," Lu Xiaoyu snatched the phone from Lin Wushuang and said with a mischievous smile.
"... "
Chen Tianlong was speechless for a moment, this little girl was always making trouble.
"Chen Tianlong, don’t listen to Xiaoyu. I’m hanging up now, muaah."
Lin Wushuang finished speaking and hung up the phone.
"Mwah."
Lin Wushuang’s words made Chen Tianlong a bit restless, but when he turned around, he saw Tan Tian grinning mischievously.
Chen Tianlong smiled wryly and quickly changed the subject, "Master, we’ve studied for so long, everything seems fine, can we start?"
"Of course, with this Divine Cauldron, I dare guarantee that the purity of the pills will exceed ninety percent," Tan Tian assured.
Chen Tianlong nodded with reassurance from his master, he felt more at ease. If they could truly produce a large number of Super Qi Gathering Pills, his future play would be set.
"However, I don’t have enough materials for now. Though these materials aren’t as rare as those on your original list, they are still rare. If I hadn’t had a habit of collecting, I wouldn’t even have one set of materials for the Qi Gathering Pill," Tan Tian suddenly said.
"Oh? How many sets are there?" Chen Tianlong was surprised and then asked.
"About fifteen sets. If the success rate is high, it could yield thirteen or fourteen pills; if low, perhaps just seven or eight," Tan Tian stated honestly.
"That’s already quite good, let’s give it a try."
Chen Tianlong nodded, and they both headed into the Alchemy Room.
At that moment, Tan Tian placed the Divine Cauldron on a dedicated alchemical fire pit, a high-temperature device that used neither gas nor electricity, but a smokeless carbon instead.
However, this carbon was not ordinary but a highly concentrated, combustible substance that emitted extreme heat.
"Chen Tianlong, pour some kerosene on the carbon, then ignite it using the lighter. After five minutes of burning, we can place the Alchemy Furnace on it to prevent premature damage," Tan Tian instructed.
"Alright, Master."
As instructed, Chen Tianlong ignited the fire using a lighter.
Soon, the carbon burned evenly, and Tan Tian placed the Divine Cauldron on the carbon stove. In alchemy, the emphasis was not on the fire below but on the efficacy of the Alchemy Furnace; the fire was generally the same, without the legendary Fire of Five Flavors.
