Chapter 1043: Severe Criticism
Bo Chengyan felt an intense pang of heartache and couldn’t help but speak up, "Dad, that’s enough, stop hitting her!"
Bo Ruijie took a deep breath, nodded, and looked at Bo Chengxin, who was held in Bo Chengyan’s arms. His voice was overwhelmingly heavy as he said, "You rebellious girl! When you were dating Di Mingjue, the whole family was happy, thinking you two truly had feelings for each other. Instead, he just pitied you for your disability and gave you a token relationship.
Instead of being grateful, you made things difficult for him at every turn and kept it a secret from us. You didn’t clarify the situation, letting your mother and I believe that Di Mingjue had dumped you. Our whole family stood up for you, got angry for you, and even confronted Di Mingjue and Gu Qibao, going as far as getting into a physical altercation!
How has the Bo Family wronged you? We took you in, provided for you, and let you become the lady of the house. Yet you repay kindness with ingratitude, concealing the truth, causing enmity between us, the Di Family, and the Gu Family.
Several times I’ve wanted to disown you, but your eldest brother desperately pleaded on your behalf. Out of over a decade of familial affection, I forgave you. I thought you had reflected on your mistakes and realized your errors, but you are still the same!
During your fits of rage, did you ever think about how you might drag down the Bo Family? Didn’t you know your brother Bo Chengye had a good relationship with the Di Family, the fifth Miss of the Di Family, and with the Gu Family and Gu Qibao? Now because of you, your brother has been forced to study abroad, and what used to be a decade of friendship has become strained because of your actions.
Didn’t you know that Bo Chengye and Di Mingjue are directors at the same school? Now, because of you, he is in an extremely awkward position, to the extent that he didn’t even attend the gala!
Didn’t you know that I initially got along well with Di Yan and was quite close to Fang Hao and Qin Qian? Because of you, our Bo Family hardly has any interactions left with the three major families. What more do you want?
Do you want to drag the Bo Family down with you? Do you want to make us unable to lift our heads in the capital ever again?"
Bo Ruijie’s stern accusation left Bo Chengxin completely stunned, frozen, a trail of blood on the corner of her lip, but she remained unresponsive.
Bo Ruijie spoke with genuine emotion, tears streaming down his face.
Despite being somewhat cunning, Bo Ruijie was generally a reasonable man.
After all, he came from a family accustomed to business; he wasn’t the type to be completely unreasonable.
The previous fight with Di Mingjue was indeed triggered by Bo Chengxin’s failure to clarify the situation. They all believed Bo Chengxin had been dumped by Di Mingjue, who knew at the time that she had a disability.
Overall, they desired to secure her rights and were eager to marry Bo Chengxin to Di Mingjue.
But after learning the truth, Bo Ruijie had exploded in rage and wanted to expel Bo Chengxin from the family, but Bo Chengyan intervened, and the matter was dropped.
For Bo Chengyan’s sake, Bo Ruijie and Cheng Xinlan made significant concessions, swallowing the bitter pill of alienation from the three major families due to the fight.
Although there were financial interests at play, the longstanding interactions and emotional ties between the four major families were genuine.
In this instance, what Bo Ruijie said was motivated by emotion, without any mingling of interest. This could still be discerned from his reactions, his words, and his expression.
Di Yan and Fang Hao, Qin Qian, and Gu Ruhai just stood there, and upon hearing this, they also felt somewhat embarrassed.
Bo Chengxin remained silent for a long time, Bo Chengyan kept calling her, but she showed no response.
Bo Chengyan, frustrated, couldn’t help but say to Bo Ruijie, "Dad, how can you treat Xinxin like this?"
