"He apologized right until his final breath," Kayden began softly, leaning his weight against Rhys and comfortably placing his head on his shoulder. Rhys immediately wrapped an arm around him. "I made sure that he fully understood what it’s like to lose someone like me before he went. Seeing him die in front of me should have felt heavier, I guess. After all, I had spent years wishing for that man to drop dead. But honestly? I just felt entirely free. It felt like I was finally broken away from the chains of my past."
Leo clapped his hands together excitedly, a proud grin breaking across his face. "Now that is exactly what I am talking about. Executive closure. Have you called Mom and told her the news yet?"
Kayden nodded on screen.
"Well, I guess we can officially say good riddance to bad rubbish. Goodbye to him, then."
There was a brief moment of quiet comfort on their end until Rhys spoke up again, gently holding Kayden’s hand and pressing a soft kiss to his knuckles. "We have another announcement for you two, actually."
Leo clapped his hands again, pointing eagerly toward the screen. "Spill it. I want to hear more announcements, preferably positive ones."
"We are getting married much quicker than we originally planned," Rhys stated.
"What!" Leo shouted loudly. He practically pushed me off the couch as he bolted upright, rushing toward the terminal screen until his face was standing so incredibly close to the camera lens that Kayden started bursting into laughter. "And why the hell are you laughing? What the hell is going on with you two? You are getting married without me there? I am supposed to be your best man, Kayden! I cannot believe you would betray my loyalty like this! We are brothers, we are supposed to—"
"Enough, Leo," Kayden said, still laughing at how unhinged his reaction was.
I rolled my eyes and just sat back on the couch, saying absolutely nothing. Honestly, I was barely paying attention to his rant because my eyes were fixed entirely on Leo’s bare ass under the loose shirt he’d thrown on. Our bathroom session had ended way too quickly, and my body was still demanding more.
"The wedding is absolutely not happening without you here, Leo," Kayden said reassuringly, which made me heave a deep sigh of relief. At least that guarantee would keep Leo from completely losing his mind and ripping the terminal off the wall.
"What the hell happened, by the way?" Leo asked, crossing his arms but stepping back slightly from the lens. "Why is it happening so fast?’’
"Because I couldn’t wait another damn day to officially call Kayden my husband," Rhys responded easily. He turned his head, pulling Kayden into a brief, deep kiss right on the lips.
Leo immediately made an incredibly loud, dramatic retching sound.
I burst into laughter at his reaction, standing up from the cushions. I grabbed Leo’s hand, firmly pulling him away from the screen and tugging him back onto the couch until he landed right on my lap. "Calm down, babe," I murmured, wrapping my arms securely around his waist and locking him against me. "Let them make us jealous for now. The second this call cuts out, we are finishing exactly what got delayed in that tub."
Leo laughed, the tension leaving his shoulders as he leaned back against my chest, deeply inhaling my cedarwood scent as he hugged me back.
"Now who is being incredibly corny?" Kayden teased from the monitor, and all four of us burst into laughter all over again.
Once the amusement finally died down, I let out a heavy breath and pointed toward the screen. "Seriously, congratulations once again, guys. So, when exactly do you intend on holding the ceremony?"
"As soon as possible," Rhys answered.
"It better not be a single second before we return from this island, Rhys," Leo warned, narrowing his eyes. He lifted a hand and slowly slit his fingers across his neck in a blatant, funny threat toward him. "If you finalize those legal documents without my physical presence, I will personally ensure your medical records become highly complicated."
"It will definitely be after you are back from there, but we need to start organizing the logistics now—like booking the hall, the catering, and everything else," Kayden told him with a smile. "So please don’t kill my soon-to-be husband just yet."
Leo rolled his eyes again, but the heavy mood was entirely gone.
"Fine," Leo muttered. "But I am strictly in charge of the seating arrangements. Because If you put me anywhere near the enemies, I am staging a riot."
"Deal," Kayden laughed. "Rhys wants a traditional setup, but I’m thinking we keep the guest list entirely private. Just the main team, the family, and a few close contacts."
"Good," I added, resting my chin on Leo’s shoulder. "Keep it secure. We can handle the security details from our end once we land back home."
For the remaining fifteen minutes of our allotted window, we all dove into the chaotic, exciting details of planning the wedding logistics. It felt incredibly good to just have all of us together like this, joking around and talking about the future despite the distance.
"Alright, the terminal is flashing red," Rhys interrupted, looking at his own security timer. "Our sixty minutes are officially up. Don’t do anything stupid on that island."
"Goodbye, you idiots," Leo shot back, though there was a rare, genuine smile on his face. "Keep the baby safe, Kayden."
"We will. See you guys soon," Kayden waved.
The screen flashed once before turning completely black, the secure transmission cutting off as the island’s jamming protocol re-engaged. I wasted no time. The second the screen went dark, I tightened my grip on Leo’s waist, sliding my hands under his loose clothes to grab his cock and remind him exactly what we had bargained for.
’’Now where are we?’’ I said kissing the side of his mouth
