Chapter 240: The Dead Tell No Tales
The three of them stood up, filled with righteous indignation.
WHOOSH!
However, before they could even make a move, the short elder, the burly middle-aged man, and the others appeared before them.
"It’s the intruders!"
The Evil King shouted a warning.
Gu Tong and Gubo immediately became vigilant.
Not only were these intruders incredibly powerful, but there were also more than twice as many of them. Their combined strength far surpassed their own.
"Senior Brother, we’re in trouble this time!"
Gubo said, his expression turning ugly.
Gu Tong said gravely, "Even if it’s trouble, we must protect our Lord. Go find out where they’re from. It would be best if we could convince them to leave of their own accord."
The three of them were tasked with the heavy responsibility of protecting Su Mo, so they would avoid a fight if at all possible, lest they disturb him.
"Alright!"
Gubo said politely, "Everyone, I am Gubo, an ancestor of the Great Demon Sect. This is my senior brother, Gu Tong, and this is Brother Xie Wang."
"People from the Great Demon Sect?"
The burly middle-aged man looked surprised.
Gubo said with pleasant surprise, "Sir, you know of our Great Demon Sect?"
The burly middle-aged man smiled and nodded. "Your Great Demon Sect is a dominant, top-tier power in the Northern Profound Domain. Of course I’m familiar with it."
Upon hearing this, Gubo was even more delighted.
’After a hundred years, to still hear someone say the Great Demon Sect is a dominant power... it means the sect hasn’t declined with time.’
Gubo patiently tried to persuade him. "Sir, since you know of our Great Demon Sect, I ask that you show us some respect and withdraw from the Bloody Mountain Range. It is imperative that you do not disturb our Lord, who is currently..."
"Heh heh, your Great Demon Sect’s ’face’ isn’t worth a damn thing!"
the burly middle-aged man said with a sneer.
Hm?
Gubo’s expression immediately darkened.
’He’d thought that since the man knew of the Great Demon Sect, he would show them some respect.’
’Who would have thought he’d be so arrogant?’
"The Great Demon Sect is indeed impressive in the Northern Profound Domain," the burly middle-aged man sneered. "Too bad we’re not from the Northern Profound Domain."
"Then where are you from?"
Gubo asked.
"We’re from the Eastern Profound Domain!" the burly middle-aged man declared arrogantly.
The Eastern Profound Domain?
Gubo said gravely, "The Five Great Profound Domains have a standing agreement. Masters from one Profound Domain are forbidden from invading another in large numbers. You’re openly violating this agreement. Aren’t you afraid of the consequences?"
"Sorry, but we came through a spatial rift. We haven’t violated any rules,"
the burly middle-aged man said nonchalantly.
This time, the Northern Profound Domain’s forced opening of the Demon Venerable Burial Ground caused spatial rifts to appear in the Eastern, Southern, Western, and Northern Profound Domains.
That’s why they had appeared here.
Besides, so what if they did violate the rules? ’Were the people from the Northern Profound Domain really going to chase them all the way to the Eastern Profound Domain to kill them?’
Heh!
’Even if people from the Northern Profound Domain wanted to hunt them down in the Eastern Profound Domain, they’d need the strength to pull it off.’
Gubo’s expression was grim.
’These guys clearly looked down on the Northern Profound Domain.’
"Let me ask you," the short elder stepped forward and said, "is the ’Lord’ you mentioned the Blood Demon Evil Demon?"
At the mention of the Blood Demon Evil Demon, everyone grew wary.
Clearly, they were terrified of the Blood Demon.
But Gubo’s next words left them stunned.
"Apologies, but the Blood Demon Evil Demon has already been killed by our Lord," Gubo said nonchalantly.
"What?"
Hearing this, the short elder and his men were shocked into silence.
’The Blood Demon Evil Demon, a being they were all wary of, had actually been killed?’
’Could that possibly be true?’
’That was a powerful being they weren’t even confident they could defeat by working together.’
’How could it possibly have been killed?’
"Our Lord burned through its Divine Soul and killed it," Gubo continued.
HISS...
They all drew a sharp breath.
’To burn through the Blood Demon Evil Demon’s Divine Soul and kill it... this person’s power must be terrifying beyond belief.’
"And the body?" the short elder pressed. "Can you show it to us?"
"The Evil King kicked it until it exploded."
Gubo pointed at the Evil King.
The Evil King nodded. "That’s right. The Blood Demon Evil Demon and I had a blood feud. In a fit of rage, I kicked its corpse until it exploded."
"So there’s no proof?"
the burly middle-aged man said, frowning.
"That’s right!"
Gubo nodded.
The burly middle-aged man looked at the short elder. "Maybe we should just..."
’They couldn’t afford to provoke a being powerful enough to kill the Blood Demon Evil Demon.’
Thus, the burly middle-aged man was ready to back down.
The short elder ignored the burly man, instead sneering at Gubo. "How convenient—’no proof.’ Do you really think I’d fall for such a ridiculous lie?"
"When did I lie?"
Gubo was dumbfounded.
The short elder said, "First, you tried to scare us by announcing you were ancestors of the Great Demon Sect. When you realized we weren’t intimidated, you made up this lie about the Blood Demon Evil Demon being killed to deceive us."
"I’m not deceiving you."
Gubo looked aggrieved.
’He was telling the complete truth. Why wouldn’t these guys believe him?’
’And now they’re calling him a liar.’
"If you’re not lying," the short elder said coldly, "then show us the Blood Demon Evil Demon’s corpse. If you can’t produce it, you’re a liar."
"I already explained. The Evil King kicked the Blood Demon Evil Demon’s corpse until it exploded. If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do," Gubo said, glancing at the Evil King.
The Evil King looked utterly embarrassed.
’He’d kicked the Blood Demon Evil Demon’s corpse into a bloody mist out of sheer hatred, and now it had caused all this trouble.’
’If he’d known this would happen, he wouldn’t have been so damn impulsive.’
"If you can’t produce the corpse," the short elder said coldly, "then no matter what you say, you’re lying."
"Son of a bitch, you dare lie to me."
The burly middle-aged man was furious.
’These three bastards actually tried to trick him with lies, treating him like a complete idiot.’
’And he’d almost fallen for it.’
THUD!
"Hand over the Unparalleled Treasure Medicine," the burly middle-aged man snarled, taking a heavy step forward. "Or don’t blame us for what happens next."
"What Unparalleled Treasure Medicine?"
The three of them looked confused.
"Still trying to lie to me?" the burly middle-aged man roared. "Don’t think I’m a fool! You’re just stalling for time while you secretly harvest that Unparalleled Treasure Medicine!"
RUMBLE! BOOM!
Just then, an unimaginable wave of Spiritual Qi erupted, blasting everyone away.
SPIT! SPIT! SPIT!
Everyone spat out a mouthful of blood in unison.
But instead of anger, they were all overcome with excitement.
"A treasure! An Unparalleled Treasure Medicine!"
"Spiritual Qi this dense... forget a Tier Seven Unparalleled Treasure Medicine, this could even be Tier Eight!"
The short elder kipped up from the ground and faced Gu Tong and the others. "I’ll give you one last chance. Hand over the Unparalleled Treasure Medicine, or I’ll tear you limb from limb."
"We don’t have it!"
Gubo said coldly.
’It wasn’t just that they didn’t have an Unparalleled Treasure Medicine; even if they did, they would never hand it over to the likes of the short elder.’
’Because it would be for Su Mo.’
’Besides, he knew full well that the wave of Spiritual Qi hadn’t come from any Unparalleled Treasure Medicine. It was from Su Mo’s Breakthrough.’
"It looks like our Lord is about to successfully break through,"
Gubo muttered.
Gu Tong nodded. "Our Lord must be at the most critical moment. Even if we die, we cannot let these people disturb him."
"Then a fight it is!"
the Evil King said, his expression savage.
