The Blood Sea Array, which has truly achieved Great Success, possesses enough power to engulf a world. At present, it is merely in its preliminary state, and being able to resist the Twelve Primordial Stars Array set by twelve Eleventh Tier masters without collapsing is already an exceptional feat.
It’s normal for the Twelve Primordial Stars Array to forcibly open a passage, considering the disparity in levels between the two sides. The Twelve Primordial Stars of the Demon Race consists of twelve Eleventh Tier Demon Gods, while the only pillar supporting the Human Race is Gu Mingyue.
It can be said that the two line-ups are completely unmatched, solely relying on the strength of the array itself to hold against them.
At this moment, the Blood Sea Array has been breached, forming a passage several miles wide directly into the heart of the Blood Sea Array, which isn’t considered too excessive.
A vast horde of demon beasts charges towards the Blood Sea Array, seeking to storm into Jinling City and wreak havoc. With a shout from the defending commander of Jinling City, the next moment arrows rain down, ascending with the beast horde. Countless beasts turned into corpses in an instant, and many demon beasts were wounded by arrows too.
Yet the beast horde was excessively numerous, surging like an unceasing river, fearless and courageous, driven by Great Demons, they charged forward unremittingly.
Wolves, insects, tigers, leopards all entered the fray, while eagles and vultures covered the sky.
Fortunately, the Human Race possessed the advantage of blades and guns, and amidst shield-bearing armored warriors, they were not disadvantaged against the overwhelming beast horde.
For the Human Race, discovering fire and refining iron was essential in gaining the upper hand against beasts.
Beasts’ fur was flammable; now the defending soldiers cast fire into the beast horde, igniting a fierce blaze that startled the horde into confusion.
Once the flames start burning within the beast horde, if unchecked, it will inevitably spread, burning all the beasts to death.
Some beasts, their fur set ablaze, charged frantically, nearly igniting others, spreading the fire within the horde. But who would have known that a demon race expert would strike, promptly slaughtering the ignited beasts, temporarily calming the frenzy. Yet, moments later, more flames were thrown by the Human Race, fiery arrows rained down like rainwater, transforming the beast horde into a continuous sea of fire.
After years of fighting between the Human Race and Demon Race, they knew too well how to suppress beasts; fire was definitively the greatest weapon against beasts.
However, facing the Human Race’s fiery arrows, the Demon Race quickly responded, a Demon King from the rear roared furiously, directing the countless flaming beasts forward instead of retreating, resembling a ’Fire Bull Array,’ they crazily charged towards the human city walls.
The beasts that were ignited by flames grew even more frenzied and aggressive, fearlessly charging towards the direction of the walls.
In merely a short time, mountains of beast corpses accumulated, smoothing the gap to the city walls, countless beasts trampling over their kin’s remains, advancing towards the walls.
"Kill!"
The armored warriors of the Human Race fought with their lives and didn’t retreat, continuously thrusting their spears as numerous beast corpses covered the walls.
"Ignite the corpses below with fire!" ordered a soldier, as fire oil was poured from the walls, and the corpses amassed before the walls were refined into corpse oil, which was ignited, creating a firewall that blocked the beasts’ path. Yet the airborne beasts’ attacks ceased not. Moments later, countless flying beasts began transporting stones, hurling them towards the Human Race below.
The stones fell like rain, throwing the wall into chaos, claiming countless soldier lives.
Seeing the siege obstructed, a Great Demon from the Demon Race roared, employing divine techniques, intending to clear the fire sea on the walls, while at the same time a human expert stepped forth to duel with the demon race expert.
Amidst cries of battle, Jinling City descended into turmoil.
A giant, standing over several tens of meters tall, emerged from the rear of the Demon Race, shaking the ground and rattling the mountains with its approach, donning armor made of unknown materials, aiming to demolish the city walls of Jinling.
Other demon beasts began digging, intending to tunnel a path into Jinling City.
"The greatest function of this array isn’t actually exhibiting combat power, but rather isolating our Human Dao Dragon Qi. Human Dao Dragon Qi suppresses Ten Thousand Techniques, and if the Human Dao Dragon Qi was present, those demon beasts in front of our Human Race army would just be as good as beasts to be hunted. Now the demon race’s portion of Dragon Qi counteracts part of our Human Race’s Dragon Qi, and with this array, they can entirely sever the Human Race’s Dragon Qi," said Zhou Qiucheng, standing beside Zhang Chen.
Upon hearing, Zhang Chen was astonished: "This kind of thing exists?"
"The two races battling isn’t so simple. Where the armies are gathered, Dragon Qi exists, and without lifting the Dragon Qi restriction, neither side’s experts would easily engage," replied Zhou Qiucheng.
Hearing this, Zhang Chen suddenly understood, feeling enlightened.
As the two talked, suddenly a thunder cracked, and from Jinling City’s walls came a cry: "Not good! The walls have collapsed!"
Due to the demon race’s tunneling and the giant’s shoving, Jinling City’s walls finally collapsed. The demon race army was thrilled, their assaults growing fiercer, and Zhang Chen’s face changed, judging the Human Race’s situation dire.
The Human Race was flustered, but fortunately, the Divine Spirits of the Yellow Heaven Dao stepped in temporarily stabilizing the situation, fiercely blocking the demon race army at the walls, preventing their entry into Jinling City.
Seeing this, countless thoughts flickered through Zhang Chen’s mind, and within the sleeve of his garment, the Celestial Measuring Ruler glowed with divine light, but ultimately fell silent. He knew, Jinling City was doomed! The citizens within Jinling City were doomed too! His only option was to seize an opportunity to break the array and make his escape.
Zhang Chen glanced at his Dragon Qi Skill. Facing the horde of demon beasts, his Beast Control skill was certainly a divine skill.
By controlling the enemy’s soldiers for his own killing, his adversaries wishing to play a war of attrition would certainly meet despair.
Zhang Chen’s eyes shifted, landing on the Golden Finger Interface:
[Name: Zhang Chen]
[Skill 2 (Seventh Tier): Dragon Qi (0/800,000,000)]
[Note 2: Can control Seventh-tier demon beasts.]
[Note 2: Eight thousand meters]
"A distance of eight thousand meters is a bit too short!" Zhang Chen looked at the Golden Finger Interface, showing a thoughtful expression.
However, the level is sufficient, after all, even in a demon beast tide, most of the demon beasts are third and fourth tier, first and second tier, and sixth and seventh tier demon beasts are just a small fraction.
The largest number is still the beasts, which are the main force in the siege.
"I should do something; after all, with tens of millions of people in Jinling City, if I take action, perhaps some of them might have a chance to escape," Zhang Chen thought as he listened to the sounds of panic in Jinling City and the soldiers fighting bloodily atop the city walls, sighing slightly in his heart.
After all, it is tens of millions of lives, if we can break the Twelve Primordial Stars Array, at least some people will have a chance to escape. We can’t just watch the people die because of those damned nobles.
"It takes eight hundred million points to upgrade the Beast Control Skill again..." Zhang Chen looked at his Golden Finger Interface, because his Devouring Space continuously digested the bricks from the Corpse Ancestor’s tomb, he accumulated some points again. Upon close inspection, he found that he could just upgrade the skill again.
With just one more upgrade, I can control Eighth-tier demon beasts, and at that time, all the demon beasts under the Yin Spirits will turn into puppets before me, and I will have an absolute advantage facing the beast tide.
Even within the demon race, Demon Kings of the Yin Spirit level are exceedingly rare.
Then Zhang Chen no longer hesitated, and the points on his Golden Finger Interface evaporated instantly. The next moment, he saw the Golden Finger Interface refresh again:
[Skill 2 (Eighth Tier): Dragon Qi (0/1,600,000,000)]
[Note 2: Can control Eighth-tier demon beasts.]
[Note 2: Sixteen thousand meters]
Sixteen thousand meters is approximately thirty-two li, or sixteen kilometers.
Sixteen kilometers is already the diameter of many modern metropolitan cities.
So a distance of sixteen kilometers is definitely not short.
Although the upgrade was completed, Zhang Chen did not take action; he was waiting for the right moment.
As the fierce battle between both sides continued, the elite soldiers in the city kept decreasing, but the immense army of the demon race showed no signs of weakening. Many beasts, having devoured humans, even began to gain intelligence. Some demon beasts seized the opportunity to increase their levels.
The demon race was training their troops, and the demon beasts used the opportunity to devour human blood to enhance their bloodline power.
This great war lasted for seven days, and the strange thing was, there were surprisingly few corpses on the ground.
The demon race was eating humans, but how were humans not eating demons?
Both sides were devouring each other to enhance their strength and continuously fortify their cultivation.
At this time, the demon race already had seventh and eighth-tier Great Demons who couldn’t resist joining the fray, attempting to charge into Jinling City to devour people and enhance their strength.
"Those Twelve Primordial Stars might not resist for much longer before they also join in," Zhang Chen carefully observed the battlefield situation.
Just then, a stream of light flashed, and Gu Mingyue appeared in front of Zhang Chen: "Are you ready?"
Zhang Chen looked at Gu Mingyue: "I can make my move anytime."
"I plan to have the main army collapse, allowing the demon race army to invade the city; by then, the human race will be like defenseless lambs, at the mercy of those demon beasts. Only then will those high and mighty Demon Kings and Demon Gods be unable to resist joining this gluttonous feast," Gu Mingyue said.
Beside them, Zhou Qiucheng’s face changed upon hearing this: "If you intentionally collapse and let the demon race army enter the city, who knows how many innocent civilians will face massacre, how many innocent lives will die, do you still have a conscience? This act is absolutely impossible!!!"
Zhou Qiucheng spoke up sternly to stop them.
Gu Mingyue didn’t look at Zhou Qiucheng but kept her gaze on Zhang Chen: "You are a sensible person, you should understand the current situation. If those Demon Gods don’t come down, we will never have the chance to break the Twelve Primordial Stars Array and escape. Now, only by drawing the Demon Gods into the battle and breaking the Twelve Primordial Stars Array, will we have a chance to escape. As for the people, from the moment the court abandoned their support, their fate was sealed."
