For a few seconds, Seris was truly moving between the five enemies, not at a level where she could defeat them.
But at a level where they could no longer freely pass by her, she was fighting five Undead between Levels 35 and 38 all by herself!
If the World knew about something like this, a huge wave of shock would shake the World! Fighting creatures like this at her Level was a great achievement, something almost without equal.
It was almost a picture of what she would become after Evolution, her potential was monstrously endless.
But could she really pass the First Evolution? Seris was not sure
and for a moment her mind returned to the day she reached Level 20.
When she received the Quest, for the first time she truly thought the System was joking with her.
That was why she had not told Lian, not because she did not trust him, at least that was what she had told herself, but because her Quest was insane and impossible.
The Swordmaster attacked again and she answered as well.
But between all those movements, an annoying question entered her mind, why was she really still here?
Main Quest? Of course.
If Black Silence reached Earth, their entire World would be in danger.
Selina? Yes.
She was a Human and Seris had no intention of allowing the Cindari to turn her body into a Vessel.
But if she was completely honest, there was another reason too.
Lian.
And accepting this part bothered her more than the pain of her wounds, she did not like caring too much about other people.
Caring made decisions weaker, it forced a person to take risks for things that did not make sense.
Lian had entered her life almost without permission, argued with her, made her angry several times, ignored her orders.
He had made decisions that Seris thought were stupid.
He had saved her, trusted her and worse, he had made Seris trust him too.
She had always thought trust meant willingly putting a weakness into someone else’s hands.
Now she understood that something worse also existed.
Trusting someone so much that even without knowing what their plan was, you were willing to stand against five Undead just because he had said,
"I won’t take long."
Seris became so angry at this thought that her next strike was much stronger than it needed to be.
The Swordmaster was pushed back several meters.
"When we’re done here...you’ll explain this." Seris said under her breath.
She slammed King’s Breaker into the nearest Undead.
She did not want to consider another possibility, that maybe they would really die today, because that possibility was useless right now.
The sound of One caught her attention, the ant slipped across the ground, its stomach had opened again but it still tried to stand.
The Undead that could control the Roots raised its hand, a very thick Root Spear came out of the ground.
Seris saw its path, directly toward her, she moved her healthy leg back and prepared to dodge.
But at the same moment, the Mage covered the right side with fire.
The Swordmaster was on the left, and Cindar was behind her! They surrounded her from every direction to make sure this attack would succeed!
She was trapped for a fraction of a second and the Root Spear was fired, she had no way to retreat unless she used force.
But the Cindari had also blocked her way with force!
However, before the spear hit her, something appeared in front of Seris.
One.
"No—" Her only eye widened.
The Root Spear went directly into One’s side, passed through its broken armor, went through its body, and came out from the other side.
This time One’s sound was not even a roar... just a short, muffled sound, its huge body stayed on the Spear for a moment.
Then the Root was pulled back and the ant fell to the ground.
"One!" Seris immediately looked at it.
There was no answer, its antennae were still, its legs were still and dark blood quickly gathered under its body.
For one second, there was no movement... the young Pendragon truly felt something drop inside her chest.
"One!"
Again, nothing.
Then...one of its legs moved very weakly, its right antenna shook, once...it was alive but barely, in a very thin space between life and death.
Seris did not know why seeing this scene made her angrier than losing her own eye.
Maybe because One was not her own creature, it was Lian’s Companion and when Lian came out, he was supposed to see this.
"I’ll kill all of you!" She tightened her grip on her sword, her anger became stronger, today was one of the worst days of her life.
And every moment it was getting worse and worse and she was becoming more and more angry.
She pulled up all the Mana she had left.
[Thousand Petal Swordstorm.]
This time the Skill was not beautiful, it was not controlled either, it was violent., hundreds of Sword Aura burst out from around Seris like a real storm.
The ground under her feet was covered with cuts, the Roots were torn into pieces.
The biggest Cindari had to raise its arms in front of its body, the Swordmaster took several steps back and the Mage was directly in the main path.
The first Slash cut one of its legs, the second passed through its shoulder and the third cut off its remaining arm.
The fourth opened a large part of its side, the Undead fell to the ground but still moved, without one arm, with its shoulder split open and without any reaction to pain.
"Damn..." Seris said with hate, her breathing became heavy.
"They don’t even die." Even the fact that she had managed to come this far was already beyond what she had expected.
The light of Swordheart Overdrive went out at that moment.
[Swordheart Overdrive Terminated.]
[Severe Muscular Damage Detected.]
[Multiple Mana Channel Tears Detected.]
Seris lost her balance, and this was exactly the moment the Swordmaster had been waiting for.
The Blade moved.
The girl barely pulled herself back but the blade passed through her side, creating a deep wound on her body.
Blood sprayed and she moved several more steps back.
Another Cindari sent a thin strand out of the ground and cut her healthy leg, Seris fell onto one knee.
The half-destroyed Mage made a Spell with its remaining hand, fire hit her back and the smell of burning armor and skin rose into the air.
And before she could stand up, Cindar raised his hand, pressure came down and the young Pendragon was slammed into the ground with her whole body.
She heard one of her ribs crack...then a second one and blood spilled from her mouth onto the ground, everything became blurry for a few seconds.
Only her healthy eye had become blurry, she took a hard breath, Sovereign’s Last Stand was still active.
But her Life Force was being consumed, her body could no longer handle the output.
Seris put her hand on the ground and stood up, not because she did not feel pain, she did.
Every breath, every movement, every muscle contraction, but there was still a distance between the five Undead and the Cocoon.
So it was not over yet.
