This kind of dummy move was actually not bad, it showed some thought.
The Sporting Lisbon center-back laughed because he was right behind Lu Yang.
This dummy pass, no San Remo player could reach it.
He... gratefully accepted!
The next moment, Lu Yang slightly moved his left foot back, just enough to hit the football and change its direction, nudging the ball into the net.
From such close range, the goalkeeper couldn’t possibly react at all.
This was an overhead backheel flick in mid-air.
It sounds long, but it actually happened in an instant.
"Did the ball go in? Did it really? Really! What’s going on here?"
"Lu Yang suddenly beat everyone to the front, kicking the ball in. How did he manage to kick it in? This is unbelievable!"
"Here’s the replay, oh, Lu Yang’s move is astonishing. It feels way too effortless and elegant!"
"The center-back of Sporting Lisbon made a huge mistake by not putting any pressure on Lu Yang at all."
"Bai Zhami’s pass wasn’t great, but Lu Yang’s point-taking backheel was exquisite!"
"Two to zero! San Remo has extended their lead, and they do seem to be stronger than Sporting Lisbon at the moment."
"This makes Group D quite bizarre now!"
"Sporting Lisbon defeated Sevilla, Sevilla drew with Arsenal, Arsenal beat San Remo. If San Remo beats Sporting Lisbon now, then the strength cycle is almost complete."
"Does this mean there’s no absolute seed team to advance from Group D?"
"This group might make a lot of gamblers lose everything!"
The commentator was humorous, implying he didn’t know how much was bet on Arsenal advancing.
With San Remo leading by two, many Arsenal fans watching were quite pleased.
Even though they drew with Sevilla, which was a bit embarrassing.
But their defeated team won against Sporting Lisbon.
In this calculation, they are truly the team at the top of the food chain.
"That Sevilla and Sporting boasting such a godly Averro, wasn’t that great!" Arsenal fans began to launch a public opinion attack.
In the next Champions League game, they will face Sporting Lisbon.
"Yeah, don’t even compare with Lu Yang, I don’t think Averro is even as good as Bai Zhami!"
"Of course! Bai Zhami had one goal and one assist, Averro had zero-zero, how can he compare!"
Portuguese fans were angry right away.
They immediately started to retaliate.
"Try beating Sevilla first, okay? Do you really think you’re the Premier League champion? How many years has it been since you won a title? Will you be fighting for fourth place in the Champions League group stage too?"
Do you think this is the Champions League?
No!
This is a war between the teams from England, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.
These teams may not have that many supporters in their domestic leagues, but when they play international matches, the whole nation becomes their fans.
At this moment, the English and Portuguese are clearly at odds.
This kind of scene will also be reflected on the pitch.
Sporting Lisbon’s fans suddenly started singing the team song.
And they even changed the player names in their song to make it a song praising Chris Averro.
This is the greatest support fans can give a player during a match.
Even though it’s not a personal song, having one’s name amended and sung like this is quite an honor.
Bear in mind, Averro is only seventeen!
He previously scored twice against Sevilla, becoming the youngest player in Champions League history to score a brace.
He is also ranked fifth among the youngest goalscorers in Champions League history.
Such young players have a common trait, which is that they are easily fired up.
With the backing of the team song, Averro, who was already active, became even bolder.
When he gets bold, it’s a problem for Camihong.
He’s primarily responsible for the defense on this side.
But now, he was noticeably struggling to keep up.
Averro’s dribbling was too flashy, which might hinder team tactics, but its one-on-one effectiveness was truly impressive.
If you weren’t careful, he’d have you twisted around.
The whole Sporting Lisbon team was creating opportunities for Averro to take on opponents solo.
And Averro finally lived up to expectations, winning a very dangerous free kick in the 42nd minute.
Camihong even received a yellow card for it.
But the main issue was Delarre’s poor defensive awareness.
If this continued, there would be problems down this line.
Unfortunately, Sotu didn’t have a good solution either.
Delarre was already nearly perfect; his offensive ability was slightly weaker than Morici’s, but his defensive ability was stronger. His physical confrontation was also better, and while his dribbling was different in style than Morici’s, it was just as effective and very good at pushing forward, making his struggles with tracking back understandable.
You could only say that Averro was indeed sharp and mentally strong enough.
Despite being listed as a left winger, he constantly moved on the right side—what a unique case!
And yet his choice was correct!
On the field, Averro held onto the football, showing no intention of letting anyone else take it.
His teammates didn’t try to take it either.
They knew Averro’s personality.
This kid was clearly pumped up today.
He wouldn’t allow himself to pass through a match without leaving a mark.
He wouldn’t allow a player in the same position to outshine him.
And he certainly wouldn’t allow himself to perform worse than his idol, oh no, than his competitor!
Indeed, Averro glanced at Lu Yang.
The next moment, the commentator screamed out loud!
"Oh! Averro’s free kick, he’s... he’s actually looking for the valve core of the football!"
