After the meeting with Haylir, Gauss didn’t go out anymore.
In an instant, the day of the meeting had arrived.
Accompanying Gauss were other members of the Gauss Team: Ivan, Luna, Ethan, and the dwarf Toga.
Despite having quite a few people, there was plenty of room in the carriage, considering the local guild provided a total of four carriages.
Once seated in the guild carriage, it quickly began galloping down the spacious avenue.
After passing the inner and outer city walls, the pedestrians and vehicles on the streets noticeably decreased.
Most of those living in the inner city belong to Barry’s upper class, where every inch of land is worth a fortune.
The people there are mainly nobles, members of large merchant societies, high-ranking government officials, church priests, bankers, university scholars, cultural celebrities, and artists, aside from the employees and other workers providing services there.
Gauss and his companions’ carriage stopped in front of a classic circular building, where many different-style vehicles were already parked.
Many high-level adventurers like him were just stepping down from their vehicles, while some had noticeably different temperaments from adventurers, appearing more robust—likely military personnel.
The two groups spontaneously kept their distance.
Naturally, Gauss leaned towards the adventurer group, but his gaze lifted to look at the towering tree behind the Barry Adventurer’s Guild’s main building.
Upon entering the inner city, the distance to this mother tree of the Forest Capital grew closer, and the overwhelming awe felt seemed like gazing at a deity.
The towering tree, each leaf as large as a building reportedly never wilts due to natural causes and with the inner city enveloped under a large magic protective shield that can open anytime, there’s no worry about those giant leaves falling and causing disasters to the city.
Additionally, sunlight pouring through the leaf gaps contrasted by griffin knights flying like "insignificant" mosquitoes, busily spearing strange parasitic magic insects onto the trunk with long spears.
"This is Terra Hill."
Truly, such a tree is a miracle by itself, like a gentle mother shielding the residents below from natural disasters, regulating the climate, making the city spring-like all year and by extension, prosperous and peaceful.
The air seemed to flow with abundant life energy.
Among the group, Aaliyah, who had awakened the elf lineage and whose original profession was Druid, had the most devout expression, her entire body relaxing as if every cell inside was bursting with joyful cheers.
"Unbelievable, this tree seems like the embodiment of nature."
Aaliyah took deep breaths of the air, her already beautiful demeanor seemed even more elegant.
"Isn’t there also that rumor? It’s said before humans established a city here, this place was one of the large gathering grounds for the elves in the Second Era."
"Maybe one of your ancestors lived in the treetop many, many years ago, Aaliyah."
"Perhaps." Aaliyah murmured.
She didn’t particularly identify with the elf lineage; her awe was mainly rooted in an instinctive reverence for nature.
"Guests of the Red Dragon Team, I’m your host Bella, please follow me, the meeting is about to start."
"If you’re interested, after the meeting, our guild can organize a visit for you to explore close up at the tree base."
While Gauss and the other "foreigners" were chatting softly, a slightly short red-haired girl quietly approached them, interrupting apologetically.
Gauss only then noticed that others had already entered the guild building under the guidance of their hosts, leaving only themselves lingering here.
"Apologies, apologies. Please lead the way."
Of course, it wasn’t entirely their fault; unlike most local teams, they were outsiders and naturally more curious to take a closer look.
The guild’s main building was still spacious, to be precise, it was empty.
Besides today’s attendees—high-level adventurers and local military officials—there were almost no unrelated persons here.
Gauss learned the reason after asking host Bella.
This sparse attendance was the norm at the main guild.
In contrast to the branch guild buildings throughout the city, even basic task submission doesn’t cater to lower-level adventurers, only important events gather people here.
Arriving at the third-floor conference room.
People visibly increased.
Adventurers of various races could be seen everywhere, those attending such an important occasion were no ordinary people.
Most were Black Iron Level adventurers, meaning master-level professionals, even the silver-level adventurers with extraordinary prowess, commonly deemed high and mighty by outsiders, Gauss barely caught glimpses among the crowd.
The presence of those individuals was overwhelmingly strong.
Not every one of them possessed high charm attributes making them captivating beauts, rather it was the "standing out" aura they emitted.
Even if their appearance was plain and ordinary, their stature somewhat short or hunched, it was easy to differentiate them from others, almost like they belonged to a different species.
