There was a large crowd in the quarantine hall. It’s space capacity was about 2000 humans. There were numerous rooms in here but one room stood out.
A large door with silver ornaments on the wooden body. The door knobs were lined with pure gold and silver.
The doors suddenly opened and a short man stepped out, beside him were two large body guards. As soon as he walked into the hall, everyone stopped what they were doing to stare at him.
Xero had just got there in time after learning that Tenny was also here. He wanted to find him fast and know if indeed he was blooded.
The short man cleared his throat and adjusted his stance. "Good day everyone. I am sure that you all are wondering why you have been called in for a quarantine."
"Well the school management decided on this due to reasons best known to them. All we need of you all is to walk through that door. Once you have been accessed, you will be led out of the hall."
"You can’t just drag everyone to this place based on assumptions and hunch." Someone said from behind the crowd.
"We know that, which is why we would be as fast as possible. You see this man over there?" He said and pointed at a slim guy with dark grey hair.
"You collect a piece of paper from him before getting in. That will help you get out here faster." He said and walked back into the big room.
With that students began file before the slim man, picking up a piece of paper. When each student walked up to the door, they would spend less than five minutes before coming out.
Xero watched the crowd as the line continued to move. When a student emerged out of the office, they would be led out of the room into a different room.
In a few cases, a student would be accompanied by a guard with their hands cuffed with heavy metal bindings. Xero could only guess that those were the blooded vampires.
He tried to find Tenny in the crowd but it was too large for him to pinpoint where exactly he was. He decided to keep on searching for him. He had to find him before he got into that room.
Just when he was about give up on finding him, he saw him somewhere ahead of him. Tenny sighted him too as their eyes met for a second.
Xero walked over to him and dragged him to a corner where no one could hear them. Tenny stared strangely at him as he dragged him away.
"Hey." Tenny said not knowing what to say.
"Sorry for what happened yesterday. Really wish I could have helped you out. Sorry I came in late." Xero said but Tenny shrugged lightly.
"No you shouldn’t have butted in. You could have been killed by those guys. You got really beaten. I thought you will die." Tenny said.
"Yeah I know. But you had to go through a lot because I didn’t come in early." Xero said.
"You know you aren’t my protector right?" Tenny said and Xero smiled lightly.
"I wanted to ask you a question. What exactly happened back in the refectory last night?" Xero asked.
"I don’t really know. The bullies just came out of no where and tied us up and decided to use us to learn their shooting range."
"Have you noticed anything strange since last night?" Xero asked but Tenny paused for a while before responding.
"I haven’t. Why do you ask? Anything the problem? Is that why we are asked to be here?"
"I don’t know. I just thought that something was wrong but if you say nothing is wrong, I will take that. We will see back in the dorm. Stay safe. I need you in the sun today." Xero said and winked at him before leaving him.
Tenny stood at the spot, staring at him as he left for the queue. Are dark expression on upon his face.
"Tsk."
Xero joined the queue while he stared at Tenny who returned back to the line. Xero wondered what had exactly transpired at the refectory.
He knew one thing for sure. Tenny was hiding something from him. He suspected that he was lying about what had actually happened. Probably he didn’t confined do much in him to tell him he was a vampire and was blooded.
Whatever the reason was, Xero didn’t want to force him into speaking. He would act at his own will but Xero would have to be cautious around him.
He watched as Tenny entered the room. He wondered what would happen as he was inside. Would he be cuffed like all the others who had been suspected to be a vampire or would he walk away free?
After about six minutes, Tenny came out of the room but instead of being cuffed or leaving through the side door, he was escorted upstairs by a guard.
Xero wondered what all that was about. He stared at the both of them as they walked upstairs for a reason which seemed likely unusual.
Was Tenny a vampire or was he a human? Was he actually blooded? Where their assumptions about this quarantine actually correct?
He tried to think for a while and it was then that he was called forward by the slim guy. He was given a paper with a runic symbol on it. He wondered what that was for.
Then he walked into the room and the first he noticed was that the door knobs were wet. He hadn’t noticed until now but each time a student left the room, the door knobs were liquefied by a guard. He wondered what that was for.
As he stepped into the room, the first thing he noticed were the numerous crosses that hung on the walls.
The wall itself was shining brightly as the silver plates that covered it seemed to be electrically charged.
It was then that Xero understood that this was the quarantine. This was actually the test. With them placing holy objects that vampires react to, anyone who reacted positively to these was a suspect.
Xero smiled lightly amazed by their technique. Then he heard the short man’s voice.
"My name is Silas Weth. I am an expert in hunting Vampires and this is your test."
