Xero walked into the library. He flashed his watch at the librarian and as always he got a detested look. He quickly scanned through the library and walked down.
He was looking a clue as to the Hunt Portal and in order to get that information he had go through the section where information about portals would get revealed.
He began searching for books with related topics about portals. There were about 500 book selves in this block and he wasn’t sure how he would be able to lay his hands on the very information he wanted.
After searching for what seemed to be ages, he found a book titled Portals. He sighed. He felt fulfilled with this book. He quickly got a seat and began to read through the pages.
He had read about thirty pages before the librarian signalled everyone to leave. He dropped the book in the self and marked the spot where he had found it not wanting to search for it tomorrow.
He left the library fast enough to catch up to Lora walking down with a guy with dark green hair. He wondered who he was. Did she get a friend while he was sick? Not like he was bothered but he felt it was too sudden.
"Xero. Where have you been?" Lora asked as soon she saw him.
"Been sick." Xero said sharply surprised that she didn’t know that he had been in the hospital for the past four days.
She was the only who should have known a bit about his whereabout. He had fallen asleep in her arms and woken up in the arms of Wang Sen.
How exactly had he gotten there in the first place. He wanted to ask her what had transpired while he was asleep but seeing the guy she was with he couldn’t do that now. He simply brushed off the idea.
"Really? I have been worried about you." She said and all Xero could do was stare at the guy stealing glances at Lora.
"Oh. He is a new friend of mine, Derek. We were only going for a walk." Lora chipped in as soon as she noticed Xero giving the guy a death glare.
"Don’t care about him. I need to speak with you. Could you cancel your fancy lover trip?" He said and snatched Lora by hand, then walked off leaving Derek standing at the spot in shock.
He dragged Lora on until they were far from Derek’s sight and any other person’s sight. Then he let go of her hand. She turned to him almost annoyed but she saw the serious look on his face and knew that this was no joke.
"What happened? Why did you drag me out like your kid sister?"
"Look I don’t have time for petty romance. I’m in a tight situation here." He said briefly. She stared at him lightly before speaking again.
"What happened?"
"When I slept in the last class, what happened?" He asked lightly. She looked at him confused by the sudden question.
"C’mon. I need to know what happened to me while I was asleep." He said and shrugged.
"Nothing serious. I remember you falling asleep and I wanted to take you to the dorms but I came across a guy who happened to be your roommate. He offered to help. By the way you didn’t tell me that the last guy we battled was your roommate." She said as she pulled his ear.
"I forgot to tell you that. So you mean that you gave me to Dennis."
"Yes. What about it? Then anything happen?" She asked again but Xero kept mute trying to piece up the information.
"Is there a recent incident?" He asked as he rubbed his temple.
"Yes. There was a break in at the School forest and two guards and one student were killed." She said.
Xero’s eyes widened in shock. Death? Were the guards dead? Had Wang killed the guards? And which student was killed? He was sure that he hadn’t finished off Wang so who else was in that forest.
Just then he remembered the guy who had saved Wang from his savage mode. He did seem strong but he was on Wang’s side so who was killed? Did they get a new prey or what?
"Hey. What does that have to do with this?" Lora asked finding his questions weird.
"What happened?"
"Meet me later this evening?"
"Why? What is happening? I can’t meet you blindly. I need to know what is happening. Xero you have to tell me what is going on." She pleaded.
"A cult is planning something and I need to get more information about it." He said finally.
"And why is that so? Why do you have to pry in their matters?" Lora asked as she stared at him.
"Look I was their target. I have been in the hospital for four days because of this. I need to know what is happening." He said but Lora stared at him in shock.
"You were their target! How?"
"I don’t know but I need to know. The person you gave me to wasn’t Dennis. It was a guy who could shape shift. He took me down to the School Forest and I don’t know what he wanted to use me to do there."
"So what do you plan on doing then? If it is indeed a cult, you should let matters slide. Better not to fall into their hands."
"I will break into the forest to find out what happened. I went there earlier but I couldn’t get past their security but I heard that their security weakens in the night. I’m going to sneak in there during that time and carry out my mission."
Lora looked at wondering whether he was joking or serious. She didn’t see any sense in getting right into trouble. Most of all if he was caught in the forest, he would have the school to contend with too.
"I don’t think we should do this." She said plainly but Xero wasn’t about to back off.
"You aren’t going to get in. I’m the one calling the shots and I will take full responsibility if you are caught. Meet me by 5 pm at the refectory before dinner." He said and dashed off.
Lora stared at him as he ran. She didn’t fully agree to his way of thinking but she found herself having faith in him.
Was it because of his charisma or his ability to sense things others couldn’t? She didn’t know why but all she knew was that this plan of his wasn’t going to end well.
