Chapter 1061 - 997: Completing the Mission by Borrowing
For Da Fei right now, quickly completing the Leviathan mission is the most important thing to prevent unnecessary complications. Not to mention the noble mission of washing away Japan awaits him. So, Da Fei missed the generous offer of the Dark Tide Temple Chief’s 1500 single tribute, realizing how hard it is to come by. He is now unwilling to miss any conditions.
Thus, Da Fei immediately agreed to the conditions of the City Lord.
Thunder Spear City Lord rejoiced: "Then warrior, let’s sign the Sea God contract, so our agreement will be effective."
As he spoke, he took out a sheet of golden Sea Beast Skin: "Warrior, take a look, if you are satisfied, just sign it."
Da Fei quickly checked the contract:
——Today, Da Fei, the City Lord of Lighthouse Island City, is willing to use the territory ownership of Lighthouse Islands as collateral to owe Thunder Spear City Lord 1000 units of Sea God’s Tribute, to be repaid in one year, plus interest of 10000 units of pearls. If Da Fei fails to complete the contract as agreed, the territory will be arbitrated by the Sea God and awarded to Thunder Spear City Lord. Meanwhile, during the contract period, both parties shall maintain friendly trade relations and must not attack each other. If one party initiates an attack, it will be considered a breach of contract...
Da Fei’s eyebrow twitched! Owing debt and interest aside, since Lighthouse Island City has been contracted out with profits, even if the sky fell, several large guilds would bear it together. The key is the contract’s last sentence, "must not attack each other," meaning that once this contract is signed, I can’t attack him? This is equivalent to providing him with a year of peace?
While Da Fei was shocked, the Lord of Thunder Spear smiled and said: "Although there is 10000 units of interest, the warrior’s shipment of fine wine should fetch a good price, offsetting part of the interest. However, I suggest the warrior doesn’t rush to pay the interest and uses the first earnings as startup funds..."
Is it just like this? Sometimes, Da Fei feels too smooth and ends up feeling uneasy, thinking it’s time to negotiate a price, even if there are so many large guilds holding it up, why give everyone so much pressure?
Da Fei coughed softly: "Well, Lord City Lord, can it be a bit cheaper?"
Thunder Spear City Lord immediately shook his head: "It can’t be cheaper. Normally, when I lend the Sea God’s Tribute, the interest I receive should also be the Sea God’s Tribute. I appreciate the warrior’s willingness to maintain a friendly relationship by using ordinary pearls as interest, I’m already at a loss."
Oh, haggling is an attitude, a pleasure. It doesn’t necessarily mean I have to take advantage of you. The point is you won’t even budge, making an intentional bargain feel frustrating, right? Da Fei remembered he already snatched over 200 units of Sea God’s Tribute from George, so no need to borrow 1000 units.
So Da Fei asked again: "If I only borrow 800 units of Sea God’s Tribute, what is the interest then?"
Thunder Spear City Lord smiled and said: "Then it will be proportional, 8000 units of pearls, how about it?"
Da Fei’s eyebrow twitched, actually, the price can be negotiated! However, Da Fei suddenly remembered that at departure, the Sea God Priest Heliana reminded him: Since the preferences of Leviathan are unknown, 1000 units is just the minimum standard, to be safe, more is better.
If that’s the case, why not borrow enough in one go? After all, this diplomatic opportunity to quickly obtain a large amount of tribute may never come again, this chance must be seized.
Da Fei’s heart moved, then he solemnly said: "Lord City Lord, Leviathan’s temper is changeable, I don’t know if 1000 units will satisfy her, for safety, I want to borrow 2000 units, please fulfill my request!"
Saying that, Da Fei immediately bowed deeply. Playing the game to this extent, Da Fei is truly pushing it.
Thunder Spear City indeed paused for a while, finally speaking: "The warrior’s words make some sense, but 2000 units of Sea God’s Tribute is no small matter."
Can do! Fear him from presenting conditions, but not lending!
Da Fei gritted his teeth: "But Lord City Lord, this is the key moment to witness our friendship!"
Thunder Spear City Lord nodded: "Okay, since the warrior wants to borrow an extra 1000 units of Sea God’s Tribute, it’s not impossible, but the interest must follow normal rules. In one year, you must pay me 1000 units of Sea God’s Tribute as interest, meaning I lent you 2000 units of Sea God’s Tribute, you’ll pay back a total of 3000 units of Sea God’s Tribute with 10000 units of pearls, how is it?"
Da Fei fiercely slapped his thigh: "Good! Let’s do it! Sign the contract!"
Thunder Spear City Lord laughed heartily: "Good, sign it, I believe with Leviathan protecting the warrior, the warrior will easily repay this loan!"
Da Fei smiled: "Thank you for your appreciation, my Lord!"
The golden light flashed on the parchment, the contract was officially signed! At this moment, Da Fei and all the citizen shareholders of Lighthouse Islands received a message simultaneously:
——System Prompt: Lighthouse Island City has established a friendly trade cooperation relationship with Thunder Spear City and signed the Sea God contract, with a debt of 3000 units of Sea God’s Tribute and 10000 units of pearls, please ensure repayment within a year. Otherwise, Lighthouse Island City will belong to Thunder Spear City.
At this moment, the shareholders of Star Ninth Heaven Bloodrose Royal Family Skyshattering Thunder were all stunned! Not because of the debt, but because they had no clue what the owed item actually is! Pearls, of course, they know a little about, but what is the Sea God’s Tribute?
In an instant, Da Fei’s friend info flashed crazily!
Da Fei secretly sighed, indeed, I used the wine bought by everyone to do business, but before the account-sharing, I incurred a large debt! The key is, this debt is obviously for my personal gain, yet requires everyone to repay. Nothing can be done, who says I am the CEO without supervision? The key is, who dares to demand supervision of me? Like Little Li and Little Fang in Divine Punishment City, being in all-round contact with Bloodrose Headquarters, monitoring, forget it.
Even though Da Fei’s face is thick, he couldn’t help but feel uneasy opening Bloodrose Leader’s message: "Brother Fei, what’s with this debt? What exactly is this Sea God’s Tribute?"
Da Fei coughed lightly and immediately used the prepared excuse: "This Thunder Spear City is the most prosperous and strongest city in the Eastern World. This debt is the protection fee; otherwise, everyone might get plundered by pirates in the Eastern Sea Domain until they’re penniless. I believe with our guilds’ strength, running a chamber of commerce for a year can surely repay the protection fee. As for the Sea God’s Tribute—"
Da Fei directly shared an image: "A very high-end item, it’s the future target for everyone! Everything else is just clouds!"
Bloodrose Rosa was immediately stunned: "It can even add attributes!"
Then Da Fei went on to explain to other friends one by one, it turns out doing something heartless is really exhausting.
Now, after the contract signing was completed, Thunder Spear City Lord was in high spirits: "Warrior, the 2000 units of tribute will be shipped to your vessel immediately. I have urgent business on the seabed, see you next time!"
Da Fei chuckled dryly: "Yeah, see you next time!"
And as Thunder Spear City Lord turned to dive, he suddenly turned back: "Oh, let me remind the warrior, 2000 units of Sea God’s Tribute is no trivial matter. Even if you acquire Empire’s maritime commerce rights, you can’t ensure other Lords won’t plot against you, be careful."
Da Fei’s heart tightened, he quickly thanked: "Thank you for the reminder, Lord City Lord!"
The City Lord’s last words really gave Da Fei a valuable warning, but fortunately, just in case for such a situation, he obtained a large Legion Teleportation Scroll from the Elven Kingdom Military Department. It can transport troops and supply convoys but cannot teleport ships.
So, as a precaution, use it now, everything must be stable. Yes, send Anlicia, Deputy City Lord of Radiant City to retrieve it, now is the time to complete the Leviathan mission early! Though this means she will end this voyage early. But it doesn’t matter, once I settle this stunt, the voyage is about done anyway.
Escorted by guards, Da Fei returned to the harbor. At this time, as expected, a large group of Fishmen under the escort of Naga Warriors delivered bundles of shimmering Sea God’s Tribute onto the ship.
Clearly there’s inadequate cargo space, time to sell the wine! As for selling wine, such a huge transaction of course should let Deirdre handle it and boost her to level 50! Once she crosses this threshold, she becomes an official hero, no longer fearing her demise!
However, such a big transaction, if I personally handle it, might meet the ’Military Transporter’ qualification, huh? Whatever, more about guts than anything else.(To be continued.
