1070 Hostile Mission
More than a dozen game-related prompts flashed on Fang Heng’s retina.
The players…were really troublesome!
Fang Heng was rather speechless.
And Sandy too! Before entering the city, Wei Tao had repeatedly told him to be low-key, but now he had started to attract hatred for himself.
Helplessly, this was just how NPCs were.
Now that things had come to this, Fang Heng simply took a few steps forward and stood in front of everyone with his identity as a participant.
Everyone was secretly suspicious.
Such a young feudal lord and he wanted to build a ghost tower in his territory?
Was he that rich? And why did it have to be the ghost tower?
Was it because he had a powerful necromancy mage under him?
Randolf’s eyes also flashed with a bit of surprise. Thinking of Fang Heng’s identity as a necromancer, he suddenly had more doubts about the authenticity of constructing the mage tower.
Could it be true? They’re going to build a ghost tower?
“You are the feudal lord? May I ask where you are from?”
Fang Heng frowned, lowered his voice, and casually made up a story, “That’s right. I’ve just inherited a piece of the Empire’s fief. That’s my hometown, and that area is called the Land of Plague.”
The Land of Plague?
The mages from the Empire started to whisper among themselves again.
No one had ever heard of this place.
For a moment, many of the mages present began to imagine things.
Why did it sound like a lie?
The players and the natives had different thoughts.
They had already obtained some fragmented identity information about Fang Heng through various detection spells.
Fang Heng, the feudal lord of the Empire and a necromancy mage had a close relationship with Her Highness Mingyue.
With Fang Heng’s help, Sandy felt that he had gotten back at them. He snorted proudly, “Hmph Hmph, did you hear that? We have the Empire’s fief. If you don’t believe me, you can go to Tang Mingyue to verify it! Can you show us the information on the ghost tower? Don’t waste our time, okay?”
Faced with Sandy’s overbearing attitude, Randolf still had a gentle expression.
He did not question the matter about the feudal lord. Instead, he said, “The mage tower is a shared magic secret between the Mage Association and the Empire. The Mage Association has the responsibility to prevent the secret from being leaked. Therefore, the construction of the mage tower needs to be reviewed and filed by the Mage Association.”
Fang Heng was startled when he heard that.
A mage tower?
Fang Heng suddenly realized that the ghost tower was a mage tower that specialized in necromancy!
No wonder Victor was interested.
Oh, right.
The mage tower could be used to quickly teleport between two mage towers through space.
In the current trial game, the mage tower was something similar to a space tearing device.
If he could really build a mage tower and connect to the sacred tree, he would save a lot of time!
“Why does it has to be so troublesome…?” Sandy mumbled softly, before continuing to ask, “How are you going to conduct the audit? ”
“We need to confirm your territory and the funds you’ve raised from the Mage Association, as well as evaluate your ability to build a mage tower. In addition, the operation of the mage tower requires sufficient mage apprentices. The Mage Association will evaluate the situation of the fief. Once the construction is confirmed, the Mage Association will assist the feudal lord in the construction of the mage tower…”
“In addition, the Mage Association receives no less than 20 applications to build a mage tower every year. However, the stock and production of magic cores required for the construction of a mage tower have always been extremely limited. Therefore, the Mage Association will select two applications from each year to approve the construction of the mage tower and provide the magic cores.”
While Fang Heng was listening, he suddenly heard a game prompt.

Fang Heng was moved.
There was no penalty for failure, and he could even get an additional 200% reward?
Although the difficulty had also increased by 100%, just from the value alone, it was a huge profit!
At the same time, all the players at the scene received the game mission prompt.
[Hint: The player has triggered the team mission: Competitor of the mage tower.]
Mission difficulty: Unknown
...

Mission reward: Random A-level mission reward.
The players’ expressions changed when they received the mission notification and they looked at each other.
As expected! This necromancer cum feudal lord had also come for the mage tower!
The players were already on their guard when they saw Victor and Sandy looking for information on the mage tower.
To the players, the mage tower was a highly sought-after item.
It was obvious that if they could get their hands on a mage tower, they would be able to reap great benefits.
However, the difficulty of obtaining a mage tower was equally high.
First, they needed to be recognized by a feudal lord. Players could attack a feudal lord by force, bribe, and manipulate behind the scenes; or simply complete Empire missions to increase the Empire’s merit points and apply to become a feudal lord.
It was extremely difficult for them to become a feudal lord. Apart from gathering enough merit points, they also needed to have a high affinity with the Empire’s royal family.
...
Next, they had to find a way to get a large sum of money to invest in the construction of the mage tower and find a way to convince the high-tier mages to participate in the construction of the mage tower.
Finally, the Mage Association only provided two magic cores to the outside world every year. They also had to face competition from various indigenous people and try to improve their relationship with the Mage Association, hoping to gain an advantage in the distribution of magic cores.
Otherwise, who would have the time to waste on the second or third floor of the library every day? Wasn’t it just to increase their favorability rating?!
