1034 Rescue
On the high platform, Ao Cang’s brows were tightly knitted.
The other party’s background was unknown and he was leading so many zombies outside. If they opened the village gates and let them in, what would happen if they were enemies with malicious intent?
The most suspicious thing was, how did this necromancy mage know about the barbarian invasion?
Ao Cang turned to Ma Xiaowan and asked, “Are they reliable?”
!!
Ma Xiaowan’s face was bitter.
She wasn’t sure if they were reliable. As for whether being them would bring disaster, that was true.
After all, ever since she met Fang Heng, danger had come one after another.
Ao Cang’s heart sank when he saw the struggle on Ma Xiaowan’s face.
Ma Xiaowan sighed, “In my opinion, we should let them in.”
After all, even if they really wanted to stop him, they couldn’t!
Let’s not be stubborn and just let them in while the other party was still asking nicely.
Ao Cang noticed Ma Xiaowan’s expression and could guess what was going on. He couldn’t help but sigh in his heart.
He was the deputy commander of the Empire’s seventh guard legion. Due to his family’s prestige in the Army for generations, he had come to the small village to train and gain experience.
Who would have thought that they would encounter such an unexpected incident?
The Empire’s troops stationed in the village were only a small team of 50 soldiers with average strength.
The most reliable combat strength at this point was Ma Xiaowan’s group of mercenaries instead.
Seeing that this group of mercenaries didn’t have the slightest bit of desire to fight against the other party, Ao Cang suddenly lost his desire to fight as well.
Since it was certain he could not defeat the necromancy mage, he might as well not offend him.
Rather, they might have to rely on him to save the village instead.
Ao Cang raised his hand to signal the crowd to open the gate. At the same time, he stood on the sentry tower, cupped his hands to Fang Heng, and said very politely, ” “Respected necromancy mage, I am the deputy commander of the Empire’s seventh army legion, Ao Cang. I am in charge of the safety of the village. Your undead creatures may cause fear among the civilians, so please try not to bring a large number of undead creatures into the city.”
Fang Heng nodded in agreement after hearing the polite words of the other party. He simply left the zombie team outside the door and entered the village with Mo Jiawei.
After climbing up the wooden sentry tower, Fang Heng saw Ma Xiaowan, who was standing beside Ao Cang with a bitter expression on her face.
Fang Heng nodded to her since they were old acquaintances.
Ma Xiaowan responded with a stiff smile. She really wanted to cry.
Seeing that Fang Heng really didn’t bring any zombies into the city, Ao Cang heaved a sigh of relief.
After introducing each other, Ao Cang told Fang Heng about the current situation of the village, “Mr. Fang, we’ve just received an urgent message from the Empire. The barbarians are invading the empire on a large scale, and the Empire’s reinforcements will arrive as soon as possible. We just need to hold on for a while and wait for the reinforcements to arrive…”
“Yes.”
Fang Heng listened to Ao Cang’s statement and shifted his gaze to the village.
The current goal of the barbarians was to attack the village, so he might as well build a blood altar in the village.
By using the village as a defensive stronghold, he would not have to transport blood back and forth then, which would save him a lot of trouble.
Well, the premise was that he could win.
Just as he was thinking, two war horses galloped over from the right side of the village.
On the sentry tower, a guard recognized one of the men on the warhorse and immediately reported, “Commander, that’s Shrek. I know him. I’ve worked with him before! He was supposed to be in charge of guarding the forest outpost.”
Shrek, who was riding toward the village on his warhorse, also noticed the figure on the guard tower. He waved his hand and shouted in the direction of the sentry tower, “Reporting! I’m private third class, Shrek! The front lines at the outpost in the forest are being threatened by the barbarians and the outpost has fallen. Commander Ding Wu is leading the remaining troops to resist the barbarians. We have received orders from Commander Ding Wu to report that the barbarians will be here soon. Please be prepared for battle!”
Everyone’s heart sank again.
The entire village was enveloped in an extremely tense atmosphere.
The defensive measures and forces of the sentry towers were much stronger than that of their village.
Yet, they were destroyed?
Wasn’t that a little too fast?
Ma Xiaowan couldn’t help but turn around and look at Fang Heng.
Disaster!
It hasn’t even been two minutes, right? And the enemy was already coming to their door!
“Don’t be afraid!” Ao Cang forced himself to calm down, “Everyone, listen to my orders! Prepare your defenses! We have to stop the barbarians outside the village! Fight for the Empire!”
“Fight for the Empire!” The crowd shouted in unison.
[Hint: Some of the subsidiary buildings (including villages, outposts, mines, etc.) outside Hani City have fallen. Player, please be careful. (Currently, the barbarians have controlled/destroyed 28% of the subsidiary buildings outside Hani City.]
[Hint: The barbarian team is chasing after the remaining soldiers at the outpost. The barbarian team is estimated to arrive at the player’s current village in 45 minutes. Please be prepared.]
Two lines of game hints refreshed. Fang Heng and Mo Jiawei looked at each other.
“What a coincidence,” Fang Heng said, “Why don’t we take the initiative to attack and take this opportunity to test the strength of the barbarians?”
Before Mo Jiawei could answer, Ao Cang was stunned, “Now?”
To think he wanted to take the initiative to attack. Was he crazy?
He even suspected that he had heard wrong.
“No problem,” Mo Jiawei nodded.
Ao Cang realized that Fang Heng seemed to be the one in charge, so he turned back to look at Fang Heng and confirmed with him again, “Are you guys going to take the initiative to attack?”
Fang Heng nodded and took a glance at the wooden defense facilities outside the village.
“The village’s defensive facilities are rather ordinary, and their defensive capabilities are extremely limited. Rather than wasting time here, it’s better to face the enemy head-on and have a higher chance of winning.”
Saying that the village’s defense was rather ordinary was already respecting them. In truth, it was simply broken!
It wasn’t even as reliable as the wooden fortifications that the zombies had temporarily set up.
“By the way, I’m taking that soldier with me.”
Without waiting for Ao Cang’s reply, Fang Heng patted Mo Jiawei’s shoulder and said, “Let’s go!
“No, wait, you guys…” Ao Cang wanted to stop him, but he couldn’t.
As he watched Fang Heng and Mo Jiawei jump down from the sentry tower and head straight for the east side of the village, Ao Cang couldn’t help but look at Ma Xiaowan, “They’re taking the initiative to attack? Who are they? Are they really reliable?”
“Yes, maybe…”
Ma Xiaowan’s face was bitter. She was also a little uncertain.
After all, she and the entire mercenary team had witnessed the power of the undead last night.
However, this “power” was only relative to the dragon mosquitos, which were low-intelligence life forms.
When it came to dealing with the barbarian army, were those necromancy mages really reliable?
The barbarians were a group of extremely terrifying beings!
Just thinking about them made one’s heart turn cold.
Fang Heng and Mo Jiawei rushed toward the soldiers outside the village. At the same time, the zombie team gathered outside the village followed Fang Heng’s movements, and turned around.
The two soldiers on the warhorses had not realized the severity of the problem.
When they saw Fang Heng and his companion running toward them, they said anxiously, “Gentlemen, this is an urgent military situation. The outpost in the forest has fallen. Deputy Commander Ding Wu is trying his best to delay the barbarian’s advance. I need to see commander Ao Cang immediately…”
“I know. Take me there,” Fang Heng interrupted.
