1007 Commander-level
“The fungi are not a known species, and I’m not sure if there are any toxins. It’s recommended not to be used as food. I can make a preliminary judgment after the laboratory is built. Also, the insects here are huge,” Qiu Yaokang said as he pointed at a bite mark left on the fungus.
“Understood. Let’s go.”
Unable to determine their direction, the party simply moved forward in a straight line.
The team went deep into the maze. After walking for about ten minutes, the number of stone pillars gradually increased.
The protruding stone pillars stood like a forest of stone.
Tang Mingyue, who was walking at the front of the team, suddenly stopped, signaling the team to stop. For some reason, she had been feeling a chill in her heart the moment they walked into this area.
The deeper they went, the more intense this feeling of uneasiness became.
The crowd looked at Tang Mingyue, wondering if she had discovered something.
“Don’t you guys feel that the stone pillars here are a little strange?” As Tang Mingyue spoke, she kept looking at the darkness around her, “I keep having the feeling that someone is spying on us in the dark…”
Victor stopped in front of a stone pillar that ran through the ground and the ceiling of the cave.
“The stone pillars here have traces of artificial chiseling. Look at the marks on them, don’t they look like eyes?” As he said this, Victor shone his flashlight on the higher parts of the stone pillar.
Upon closer inspection, a strange image was carved on the stone pillar, like a closed eye.
The crowd couldn’t help but let out low cries of surprise.
“It’s true.”
“Look, there’s also one on this stone pillar.”
“It seems like every stone pillar has one…”
After a careful inspection, everyone found that there were strange marks on each stone pillar.
“Who’s there!” Suddenly, Mikhael raised his eyebrows and let out a soft cry. He threw a knife behind him.
“Bang!”
The sharp flying knife hit a stone pillar with a dull thud, and the hilt was completely buried in the stone pillar.
“Whoosh!”
Looking in the direction where the knife had hit, a short shadow quickly darted into the shadows from behind a stone pillar.
“Chi, chi, chi… Chi, chi…”
Milahor’s attack seemed to have awakened the creatures in the darkness nearby, and there were faint scuttling sounds around them.
“What is it?”
“I don’t know. It was too fast. I didn’t see clearly.”
The sounds around them grew increasingly louder, and the players immediately became alert. They formed a circle and raised their weapons to guard against their surroundings.
“Be careful. There are many enemies nearby. We might be surrounded,” Wei Tao frowned.
They had just arrived and were already encountering such a strange environment.
One could only imagine how difficult the trial was.
“Be careful. Try not to attack.”
The players maintained their formation and aimed their guns at the darkness.
The soft sounds gradually stopped, leaving only one sound on the right.
“Whoosh, whoosh… Whoosh, whoosh…”
The sound was getting closer.
“Clack, clack,” The players raised their guns and pointed their muzzles in the direction of the sound.
A short monster holding a bone spear walked out of the darkness.
Using the flashlight to shine over, everyone could clearly see the shadow they had just seen.
It looked like a humanoid life form that walked upright and was about half the height of a human.
Their skin was covered in dark red spots, their legs were extremely thick, their heads had no neck, and their brains were directly connected to their bodies. Half of their faces were taken up by a split open mouth. Saliva was dripping from the corner of their mouths, making them look quite disgusting.
“Don’t take the initiative to attack!” Wei Tao immediately raised his hand and signaled for everyone to not act rashly.
Mo Jiawei stood at the back of the team and covered his left eye with his hand.
[Creature: Cave-dwelling beast (commander)]
“Living beings that have lived in the dark caves for a long time. They have eyes that have degenerated, so they tell from sound and perception. They are a special race that is used to fighting in groups,” Mo Jiawei quickly repeated the information he had obtained through the investigation skill, “The special skills include Hardened Skin, Evil Sting, Corrosive Poison, Mutated Perception, and a few other unknown skills.”
“Extremely high threat level,” Mo Jiawei’s heart sank and he shouted, “Be careful! It’s a commander-level lifeform!
Everyone became nervous when they heard this.
A commander-level lifeform in an intermediate game! And it was a creature that fought in groups!
Who would have thought that they would encounter a boss monster right after entering the trial? How could they fight this?
The players stared at the bone spear-wielding monster with extreme vigilance.
The cave-dwelling beast stopped in front of the group and grinned, revealing its sharp fangs. It made an unknown sound, “Gugugujiji…”
Wei Tao frowned.
The good news was that the monster seemed willing to communicate.
The bad news was that they couldn’t understand what the other party was saying at all.
Everyone looked at each other, their faces blank.
Considering the difficulty of the trial mission, the players that Wei Tao had brought to participate in this trial were almost all combat-oriented and lacked related language skills. The players could not understand what the cave-dwelling beast was saying.
Sandy moved to Mo Jiawei’s side and asked softly, “Wei, what’s he mumbling about? ”
“I don’t know. What about you?”
“Hey, how would I know? I don’t have anything in common with this monster,” Sandy retreated helplessly, “This guy doesn’t look like he knows much about art.”
“Huh…” Mo Jiawei felt strange and thought, “Why do you think I understand?”
Seeing that the cave-dwelling beast was getting more and more irritable, Wei Tao could only brace himself and walk forward, cupping his hands at it as he said, “No offense, but we came here by accident. If we accidentally offend you, we can leave now.”
The monster was silent for a moment, then suddenly let out a sharp cry, “Ka, ka, ka…”
In response, everyone raised their guns.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…”
In the darkness, a dense group of cave-dwelling beasts with bone spears in their hands appeared and surrounded the players.
“VSOMOBD…” The cave-dwelling beasts started making gurgling sounds again.
This time, Fang Heng could vaguely recognize a few syllables from their words, but he still couldn’t understand what they were saying.
After saying whatever it was saying, the commander-level cave-dwelling beast turned around and walked deeper into the cave.
The other cave-dwelling beasts that were originally gathered also opened up a path.
After walking forward for more than ten steps, it sensed that Wei Tao and the others were still rooted in the same spot. The commander-level cave-dwelling beast turned its head again and made a gurgling sound as if urging everyone to continue moving forward.
“I feel like he wants us to follow him,” Tang Mingyue pursed her lips and said.
“Yeah, I think so too,” Mikhael looked around at the surrounding cave-dwelling beasts, “What do you think? Should we fight them or admit defeat?”
“It’s too dangerous to make a move. The current situation is unclear, and it’s not the time to fight to the death yet. Let’s follow them and take a look first, then make preparations for battle.”
