Season 4: Chapter 222. A Moment to Remember Forever (2)
The Expedition Squad arrived at the library. It looked like a massive time capsule entirely clad in silver.
[Library of a Moment and Eternity]
Inside, books piled up to the ceiling like a galaxy, and a gigantic machine stood at the center.
“Whoa. What is this? A computer?”
“That’s insane. They even built something like this.”
“They really spent some money on it~.”
Anyone who streamed Survival Craft often knew that this scale couldn’t have been designed with ordinary manpower.
“Wow~” Orange walked up to the computer and started poking around.
Tap-tap-tap-tap.
“What is this? You can find where every book is from... and even see all the information?”
“Everyone, quiet.” Treeana raised a finger to her lips.
— Why does everyone laugh only when Orange talks?
— Why are they picking on Orange!!
— Small streamers stay quiet
She climbed down from Almond’s back and cleared her throat. “Hm, hm. You have done well, disciples. Here lies the legacy of Treevy.”
— lol so this was the time for the line
— You gotta deliver the line
— Legacy??
— Treevy’s legacy!!
The Paprika residents and Zelu were hearing about Treevy’s legacy for the first time.
“Treevy’s legacy...?” Zelu, in particular, looked stunned.
— A great legacy, Zelu
— Don’t tell me it’s the dead Zelo?
— His dead father is here!
Some viewers even made the absurd guess that Zelo’s corpse was buried here.
“Yes. However... not just anyone can open it.”
It couldn’t be confirmed yet.
“It seems someone has already visited, but he failed to obtain Treevy’s legacy.”
In truth, Acorn Jelly had come and gone. He only discovered the secret of Fertile Soil, but nothing beyond that.
Even to Orange, furiously tapping at the computer, this place looked like nothing more than a vast library.
“This place requires both me, the Saintess, and...”
Vooooom!
Light began to radiate from the Saintess.
“The participation of many believers.”
At once, light began to glow from everyone else as well. The colors and sizes varied. Paprika glowed red, and Cheese glowed blue.
“Oh?” An enormous surge of blue energy erupted around Zelu.
Kuuoooo...!
Almond was no different. “Oh.”
Kwaaaaaaa!
A tremendous torrent of blue energy raged around him.
— DAMN
— Neck and neck!
— Kyaa
— He’s matching Zelo
— Is this really the Almond who used to shoot arrows in Kingdom... I’m so proud
— Damn
“Blue is overflowing, but red is... Hmm.”
They had brought the three strongest chakra holders from Paprika: Parsley, Olive, and Shrimp. This was Cheese content to begin with. Even back in Treevy, they’d been far below Zelo as streamers.
“A-Are we really supposed to be singled out like this?”
“Small streamers can only cry...”
— lol
— lol
— They’re strong too!
— Those two are the weird ones!
“Well, it doesn’t matter. As long as the minimum amount is met.”
Then why point it out at all? The Paprika members, panicking over their supposed shortage of Chakra, were left dumbfounded.
— lol what was that just a comment?
— No way lol
— The Saintess is sensitive about chakra
The Saintess approached the computer and planted her staff into a slot.
Clank.
A gem floated up beside the machine and quickly filled with the red light.
[Code Analysis Complete]
Those words appeared on the monitor.
[Activating the Akashic Records]
Holographic windows appeared all around them. Something played, and the Saintess smiled faintly.
“This is Treevy’s proud history.”
The image quality was low, but they could see the scenes.
“Huh... Th-This is...?” Zelu, Treevy’s living history, removed his sunglasses in shock. “This is my first stream.”
“No way. Th-This is season one of Treevy’s LIL Tournament.”
“Whoa, wasn’t this that joint streamer event from back then? That’s crazy...”
Every hologram showed major events that had taken place on Treevy.
—Hello. This is Zelo. I’ve just transferred to Treevy, so this is my first greeting...
—The first Treevy LIL Tournament begins! For today’s commentary, we have former pro gamer from Lil Champs, OrangeKing! Applause!”
—Welcome to the joint broadcast of Zombie Playground! The rules are simple. Just survive the zombies...
Audio played as well. The very first Treevy LIL Tournament, where OrangeKing’s commentary career had begun. That wasn’t all.
“Wow. Gum, you look young.”
“This is insane....”
Almond walked toward the hologram playing Bubblegum’s stream.
—Alright, today’s game is~
Not much had changed since then, but Bubblegum clearly looked younger. Time couldn’t be ignored.
“Gum bro...” Almond stood there, unable to tear his eyes away from Bubblegum’s old stream.
‘I remember.’
This was probably when he was still struggling to adapt at the Ah-Sung. His second year, maybe? Ah-Sung was a great company, but cold. That period lingered in Sang-Hyeon’s mind like a long winter.
The snow was beautiful, but the branches were bare. The employee badge around his neck shone, yet his body shivered with tension. On nights like that, he’d buy a few cans of beer on the way home and put on Bubblegum’s stream.
Like a lie, his mood would lift. Even as the cold beer went down, warmth spread through him. With that, he found the strength to return to that cold place again. As he lingered in those memories, someone shouted from behind him.
“Whoa! This is LIL Champs when JeonJaPa first appeared! That’s crazy!” Maid Black Tea excitedly pointed at one window.
‘JeonJaPa?’
Almond turned around. The resolution looked terrible, but he could still make it out. It was definitely JeonJaPa.
—Ah, today is JeonJaPa’s debut match, right? A highly anticipated player.]
—Yes. There’s always that wall between pros and amateur rankers. How he overcomes that will be the key point to watch...
Almond glanced back. He felt someone staring intently. Saintess Treeana’s gaze was fixed behind his head.
No, she wasn’t looking at Almond. She was quietly watching the screen where JeonJaPa appeared.
‘That voice....’
Suddenly, something clicked in Almond’s mind. The Saintess had sounded strangely familiar to him.
Just then, Treeana said, “This is the energy that once led a great city. Momentary, yet remembered forever... Hm?”
Something went wrong.
Chzzzzzz!
Static began to fill every hologram window.
— ?
— ??
— What?
Ting~!
An ominous sound rang out.
— Ah
— Windows crashing lol
— Holy shit that sound hahaha
— Blue screen incoming?
[Warning! The records have been damaged!]
A warning flashed in red text.
Treeana, who had been staring at JeonJaPa’s footage for a long time, turned back toward the disciples.
“This is the doing of the Dragon.”
They all silently listened.
“His roar damaged the records.” She raised her staff again. “This is the very reason why he destroyed us in the first place.”
“Th-This is the reason for our destruction?”
“Yes, he hates these records. He wishes to erase them all to make this world endlessly simple and light. He claims that records like these are trivial and unnecessary and seeks to wipe them out entirely.”
— I see...
— Oh no...
— Damn it...!
— Curse that Dragon
To the Dragon of Streaming Destruction, the records of Treevy were utterly useless. They were nothing more than data-wasting trash that served no purpose in the world. Perhaps the Dragon of Streaming Destruction was the world’s balance itself, sent to clean up that trash.
“Yes. As he says, perhaps these records truly are nothing.” Even Treeana admitted it. “But disciples of Treeana, do you agree with him as well?”
Did those gathered here really think the same? Treeana asked her disciples, who hesitated.
“How can they be nothing? Look at all those people gathering and celebrating.” Maid Black Tea snapped first.
Zelu followed immediately. “That’s right! There are people in there! People!”
— Hahahahahahaha
— For real lol
— When you put it like that, it sounds weird
— This is insane hahaha
— There really are people in there
Treeana chuckled and posed her final question. “Then, will you join this fight to protect what is nothing?”
Every member nodded. They would fight for what was nothing.
Whoosh.
“Very well...”
Her staff spun once.
Kuuuuung...!
A violet radiance washed over every hologram window. All the screens began playing again in crystal-clear quality.
“All these memories, damaged by the Dragon of Streaming Destruction, are now scrambled. I can restore them very briefly, but you must all fix them yourselves.”
Ding.
[Main Scenario Quest #2]
[Arrange the Records!]
A quest descended upon the disciples. The videos from Treevy’s era scattered all around them. They had to arrange them in chronological order.
— What, it’s a puzzle? Lol
— How to fight the Dragon of Streaming Destruction? Solve puzzles!
— A history puzzle?!
— This is basically a Korean history exam
They all stared at one another, bewildered.
“Wh-Who’s supposed to do this?”
“How would we know? It’s not like we’re certified in Treevy history.”
“I guess we start with whatever happened first...?”
Everyone doubted themselves.
“Doesn’t that just mean putting the very first memory at the front?”
Step.
Almond stepped forward confidently. “This is really easy.”
— ?
— ??
— Strategist Almond
— FYI Almond didn’t even spend a year on Treevy
— Holy shit lol
— No way hahaha
He confidently dragged one screen into the first slot.
—Are bows... not good?
It was Almond’s very first stream in Kingdom Age.
— ?
— ??
— ...?
— What is he doing?
A moment of silence passed.
“M-My lord?”
“Oh dear... My lord...”
The Servants shook their heads, unable to say anything. Maid Black Tea squeezed her eyes shut, pretending she hadn’t seen it. Treeana stared back and forth between the video locked in first place and Almond, utterly dumbfounded.
‘Is he joking?’
She couldn’t tell whether he was serious or not.
“This is definitely the first stream. The very first,” Almond confidently said again.
“Ha.” Treeana pressed her fingers to her forehead.
The chat also exploded.
— Holy shit lol we said Treevy’s first stream, not yours
— This guy is insane
— The confidence to pick “Are bows... not good?” is legendary
— The world revolves around the Lord. Thus, it is his world.
— No, seriously, this is hilarious hahaha
Ba-bam.
[EggPlant has donated 1,000 won.]
[Brain... not good?]
— Hahahahahahaha
— Holy shit hahaha
— It really isn’t
— After all that, why even ask?
— The crazy thing is EggPlant was in that old stream too
“No, my brain is actu...” Almond tried to defend himself.
Treeana shouted sharply, “Silence! There are not many chances. Do it properly. I cannot hold this state for long. And if you fail, you must start from the beginning again.”
“But I did do it properly...” Almond slumped.
Zelu cut in with a suggestion. “O-Okay! Then, um... the Lord looks a bit unwell right now. Let’s, uh, tie him up somewhere while we do this.”
— If he’s unwell why tie him up? Lol
— What? hahaha
— What kind of suggestion is that? lol
Everyone nodded faintly in agreement.
“St-Starting the puzzle over would be kind of horrifying...”
“I mean... It can’t be helped, right?”
Almond stared at them incredulously. “No, why? It really was my first stream...”
— It’s a bit, right? Tell me it’s a bit
— Hahaha oh no
— Oh my...
— Get it together!!
— They said the Lord isn’t feeling well lol
— Almond actually messed up but can’t go back now so he’s forcing it as a bit now, that’s an upvote from me
— This is insane hahaha
In the end, they tied Almond to the largest pillar and made him watch the puzzle from there.
