Season 4: Chapter 211. History of Ruin (3)
Two days earlier, the Knights stared blankly at the quest notification.
[Main Scenario Entry Quest]
==== ====
Somewhere within the ancient ruins lies Treeana’s temple. There, you may discover how to become one of Treeana’s monks. If you become a monk of Treeana, you will draw closer to the truth of this world.
Once this quest is completed, the entire server will enter the Main Scenario.
==== ====
Saintess Treeana, freshly released from her seal, had given them a quest.
“Prove that you are a monk of Saintess Treeana.”
This wasn’t on the level of a normal individual NPC quest.
“Main... scenario?” Almond’s expression hardened. “When am I supposed to go fishing then?”
— LOLLLLL
— fr it never ends
— Lord! You can’t retire yet!!
— he’s never fishing at this rate
Almond had been planning to convince everyone to step back. The Knights were already ruined anyway. Finally, he could go fishing and camping just as they had always talked about. Suddenly, the main scenario appeared? He never imagined that the devs had prepared something like this.
“Wow...! Amazing!” Orange burst with excitement. “Everyone! Didn’t I tell you there was something big here! It’s the main scenario! Huge!”
— W
— classic Orange
— yesss this is hype
— he finally did something
The other Knights felt just as thrilled.
“Whoa. It really is the main scenario.”
“This must be the finale.”
“Feels like it for sure!”
The thought of peeling back this world’s last secrets made their hearts race.
Then, Almond said, “But do any of you actually know where these ruins are?”
“That... We don’t.”
“Right? We have no idea how long this’ll take. Maybe... you know... We could just go camping and fishing like we talked ab...”
Basically, the main scenario sounded like a long, tiring quest. Maybe they could just go fishing first and do this later. However, the other Knights coldly refused.
“No, Lord. It literally says it’s the main scenario.”
“That’s too much, sir~ Choosing camping over this~.”
“Fishing will always be there. The main scenario only happens right now, Lord.”
— LMAOOOOO
— not even your own guys, my Lord
— did they forget what happened during "No Fishing Day?” do you want to see the Lord break again!?
‘Unbelievable.’
They had promised to go camping and fishing. Almond felt deeply disappointed, but his mental discipline kicked in as a trained archer.
He steadied his breathing and tried once more. “Still, we have no idea where this place is, or how long it’ll ta...”
‘This is my moment!’
Orange, thinking this was his chance to score points, quickly interjected, “Ah! Lord, sir! I can guide you!”
“Guide?”
“Yes! I’ve already found the location of the ruins! I even dug into it a bit!”
The Knights brightened immediately.
“Oh! Perfect timing!”
“Nice! As expected of the best ace among the Scrubs.”
Meanwhile, Almond’s face darkened again.
‘This useless man...’
Orange didn’t notice since he couldn’t see Almond’s expression with his head lowered respectfully. By the time he looked up, Almond had already turned around.
“All right... Then, please lead the way.”
— LOL he’s clenching his jaw to speak
— he’s SO mad but still polite
— just go, Almond boy
— “you can fish anytime in college, son” energy
Orange blinked. “Y-You want me to lead the way?”
Almond’s huge head bobbed as he nodded.
Orange lit up and stepped forward energetically. “Yes, sir! Please follow me!”
***
On the way to the ruins, Almond reorganized his mind and said to his viewers, “Well, I’ll try my best if we’re doing this. It’ll be over quickly if I buckle down.”
He intended to clear it fast and immediately go fishing.
“Here we are!” Orange pointed ahead.
[Ancient Ruins]
Before them, a massive space the size of a city sprawled out.
Even at first glance, the scale of this place felt absurd.
“Wow... It’s really this big?”
“What are we even supposed to find? A temple? But everything is just stone.”
“This is insane...”
The Knights murmured in awe.
Almond felt shocked for a different reason.
‘Oh no.’
— LOLOLOLOLOL
— that scale wtf
— Almond’s despair is palpable
Orange, thrilled, began rambling, “Look at this scale! Anything could be hidden here! I even dug all day and only managed that tiny corner! It’s reeeally...”
He went on and on. To Orange, this place was basically Disneyland.
— Orange is adorable lol
— tour guide mode
— man loves ruins
— he’s so proud he found it
“Even though it looks like plain rock, you’ll see that it’s actually part of an ancient city once we start digging.”
Clang!
Clank!
Orange struck at a random boulder. As he carved away layers, a strange glowing mineral appeared. Then, a structure made of mineral revealed itself.
“Oh!”
“A-Amazing... What ore is this? Lord? Are you seeing this?”
“Yeah. I see it.”
Almond really did. He simply felt too stunned.
‘No way this will end today.’
Almond did the math. He calculated the time it took Orange, a high-level miner, to break just one of these stone blocks. Then, he compared that to the scale of the entire place.
‘This alone is more than a full day’s content.’
With only six people, no universe existed where they could finish this today.
“We just have to find the temple here.”
“Wow...”
Even the other Knights looked overwhelmed.
“Isn’t this just... manual labor?” Radish Servant tilted his head.
“Mmm... For now, I think so.”
“No, there must be some other clue. They wouldn’t make it this crude.” Radish Servant believed that the devs wouldn’t design something so brutally simple.
Almond stepped forward at those words. “I agree. We can’t just randomly do this.”
A faint grin appeared on his face. He looked like someone who had just figured out how to enjoy this content.
“It’s time for Almondoyle to shine.”
“Huh?”
— ?
— ???
— LMAOOO
— what is he plotting?
Potato Servant flinched in fear. “Wh-Who are you planning to shoot, Lord!?”
— LOL
— this is why they call him Almondoyle
— terrified already
— bro only knows “shoot first”
“For now, it’s best if we just start mining while thinking about it at the same time. We’re short on time,” Orange suggested.
He preferred brute force digging.
Maid Black Tea agreed. “Then, I’ll just start digging. Why overthink it? We can clear half of this in half a day.”
She rolled up her sleeves and grabbed her pickaxe. Lemon followed suit. Even the Servant Duo took up pickaxes. After all, they weren’t against mining.
“We’ll think while we dig~.”
Clang!
Clang!
Everyone swung their pickaxes while Almond wandered the ruins for clues.
“I don’t think this is something we just dig through. There must be clues. Definitely.”
— true
— probably
— but you won’t find them tho
— lmao
“Potato Servant! Dig over here. I think this is the spot.”
“Y-Yes, Lord!”
Two days passed like that.
***
“Huff... huff... L-Lord, are you sure the clues you’re following... aren’t wrong...?”
“Impossible. If you calculate the coordinates based on what’s here, this is definitely it. Right here.”
“Y-Yes, sir...”
Clang!
With a weary face, Potato Servant swung his pickaxe.
— LMFAO
— Almond... please... dig it yourself
— he’s punishing them for canceling the camping trip
— someone stop this man
Clang!
Potato Servant smashed the last of the stone.
“Hmm? Maybe not. Then over there. That one.”
And again, there turned out to be nothing.
“Y-Yes, Lord...”
A donation alert popped up.
[DidYouKnow? has donated 30,000 won]
[Almondoyle has already begun killing Potato Servant... very slowly... without him even noticing...]
— already BANG~
— bro looks dead inside
— LMFAOOOO
“This time it’s real. There’s only one variable left. This spot...”
“FOUND IT!” A sharp cry echoed from the opposite side of the ruins.
Maid Black Tea had found it.
“What?” Almond’s eyes widened, and he rushed over. “How did you find it? With what clue?”
Maid Black Tea flashed a triumphant smile. “Just because!”
— how does it feel being reverse Almondoyle’d?
— this is what he always does LMAO
— dawn of realization
— a clean “just because” killshot
They had been digging for two days and had already unearthed most of the ruins at this point. Naturally, the temple would appear.
“Damn it.” Feeling defeated, Almond followed them to the temple.
“We just have to find out how to become monks inside. Almondoyle, use your deduction...”
Almond felt fired up again and searched every corner for hints.
“Ah! You just need to bow and pray to the statue!”
“Who figured that out?”
Orange raised his hand. “Lord! I did...”
He froze when Almond looked at him.
‘Wh-What? Did I do something wrong?’
— jealousy meter exploding
— Almond pls
— the fall of Almondoyle
— “who figured it out?” “me!” BANG!
They each prayed before the statue.
[You feel a sacred presence.]
“This isn’t it.” Almond shook his head.
Something felt off.
***
After completing the quest, they gathered again before Saintess Treeana.
“Have you found the temple?”
Orange eagerly stepped forward. “Yes! We’re monks now, right?”
They had worked for days. Of course, he expected them to succeed.
“Indeed, I recognize you as monks of Treeana... Treevians.’”
— ???
— Treevians??
— what a familiar sounding label...
— the ancient city really was Treevy, LOL
All six of them froze at being called Treevians. Once, long ago, they had all streamed on Treevy. None of them could laugh.
‘So, that’s what it was.’
‘Then, that city...?’
‘Treevy.’
Treevians was a funny nickname and slang for avid viewers of Treevy. The ancient ruins beneath Cheese Village and Paprika Village had been the fallen ancient city of Treevy.
“I shall tell you now since you have become my monks. You are descendants of the ancient civilization, Treevy.” Her eyes glowed violet. “That splendid city was destroyed in an instant, and its descendants became cursed with low resolution.”
“L-Low resolution... curse?”
— 720p curse omg
— low poly world
— Treevy lore goes crazy
“Yes, the Low-Res Curse simplifies and degrades everything, just like your bodies now.”
“Who cast that curse?”
“Only one being could have done so. The one called...”
They gulped.
“The Dragon of Destruction.”
“T-That’s the name?”
They needed the caster’s true name to break the curse, but that sounded too long.
“No, its true name is...” Treeana hesitated, then looked away, and mumbled, “The Dragon of Streaming Destruction...”
— bruh
— her improv game is weak
— the Saintess is embarrassed
— what kind of name is that? LMAO
— I CAN’T
As they processed the mention of the Dragon of Streaming Destruction...
“KRROOOAAAAHHHH!!” A deafening roar shook the server.
Bang!
Treeana’s form distorted, and she shrank into the familiar chibi style of Survival Craft. A server-wide alert appeared.
[Almond, Sweet Radish, Sweet Potato, Black Tea, Lemon, and Orange have activated the Main Scenario.]
[The server is now entering the Main Scenario.]
Just like that, the six of them stepped forward toward the end of the world.
