Chapter 1179: Chapter 1177: Advanced Animals (Part 6)
"Are you guys looking for Midas for something?"
In such a scene, having witnessed Fu Qian’s actions, Mogrim’s gaze flickered before he suddenly took the initiative to ask another question.
"Just having a casual chat, we’ve heard his story and wanted to do an interview."
Fu Qian finally spoke up, and the conversation suddenly turned bizarre.
"I see, in that case, could I trouble you with a favor?"
Mogrim showed no sign of suspicion, nodding repeatedly while earnestly requesting, and pushed a stack of casino chips towards them.
"This is a little token of my gratitude; could you help deliver these to Midas? Even though he refused them before, I would still feel uneasy if I didn’t do this."
"No problem, it’s a piece of cake!"
Fu Qian stowed the weapon named ’Mercy’ away a second earlier and readily agreed to help.
"Sorry for troubling you today, thank you for sharing your insights."
"How could I..."
Although Mogrim guessed correctly to a certain extent, seeing the other party making their move without any hesitation at all did not make him happy whatsoever.
Luckily, it was clear that they also didn’t care whether he was happy or not; after exchanging courtesies, both of them stood up to leave without giving him another glance.
Especially considering the direction they were heading was clearly towards the cashier’s desk for cashing out.
...
"Next time, it’s on me."
Outside the casino, Fu Qian fiddled with two chips kept as souvenirs, while with his other hand, he patted his pocket and generously addressed Chief Yuan.
Indeed, Mogrim thrived under the grace of Midas, just like the sun at its zenith.
The pile of chips just now had been exchanged for a good amount of cash.
To achieve such a haul on his second visit to the casino, this must be the so-called beginner’s luck!
"That guy really has good fortune!"
As it turned out, Chief Yuan did not possess any bothersome sense of moral fastidiousness, showing no objections to Fu Qian’s offer to treat her with ill-gotten gains.
"Was it because of this gun that you asked me for bullets before?"
However, the next moment, she turned her attention elsewhere.
"Its name is ’Mercy’."
Fu Qian also generously handed over the weapon for her to examine.
"Such a beautiful gun!"
As a fashion expert, Chief Yuan obviously had an eye for appreciation.
After taking it and tinkering with it for a bit, caressing the exquisitely crafted patterns on the gun, she couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration.
"It’s clearly an Extraordinary Item; you really do have plenty of nice things on you!"
"Although I’m not particularly keen on firearms, suddenly I feel like it would be quite nice to carry one like this."
"And the color and style also match the outfit from earlier."
Seeing Chief Yuan charmed by it, Fu Qian couldn’t help but comment.
...
Chief Yuan’s hands, as she played with ’Mercy’, stiffened instantly, clearly feeling a bit caught out.
"What’s the matter, after all, I am a globally renowned connoisseur of aesthetics."
Facing Yuan Shan’s inadvertent glance, Fu Qian responded as if it were a matter of course.
"I also have a great interest in fashion."
"Of course, I’m generous too; once your vacation officially starts, I might consider lending it to you for a photo shoot or something like that."
"...then I really can’t let you die."
Seemingly used to Fu Qian’s overly sharp Insight, Chief Yuan finally heaved a long sigh, not denying her motive.
"Indeed, every item has its value, and having such a weapon makes many things easier without alarming the Night Watchman, as these gamblers are clearly not that easy to deal with."
"Since you have established the rules, you must accept the existence of people who will exploit them."
Fu Qian shook his head, yet what he actually pondered over was his Human-Demon identity on Ye Island.
That was the ultimate embodiment of a villainous rascal.
"Nevertheless, try not to shoot for real no matter what. Trouble is one thing, but it would be bad if we scare our target away," he said.
With a sigh, Yuan Shan handed the Mercy back, reminding him at the same time.
"Don’t worry, haven’t you heard the name of this gun? — Mercy."
Fu Qian took it and fiddled with it a few times, gesturing to Chief Yuan that there was no need for concern.
"So the name actually has meaning? A gun of kindness?"
However, Yuan Shan was clearly somewhat skeptical about his explanation.
"Hmm... your understanding is a bit off," Fu Qian said thoughtfully, trying to be as euphemistic as possible.
"One of its effects is called Suffocate. Once activated, the next bullet becomes hard to detect. Using this to commit a crime would be completely undetected. The victim might not even realize what’s happening before they die. The effect is quite akin to euthanasia."
Is this what Mercy looks like...?
Yuan Shan let out a long sigh, feeling a sense of ’this is his style.’
"Is that the place we are looking for?"
At this moment, Fu Qian reminded her with a gesture to look ahead.
"It’s unassuming, but the name matches."
Still unsettled, Yuan Shan caught on to the purpose of their visit upon his cue and looked in the direction pointed out by Fu Qian.
Under the somewhat dim lighting, there was a door painted magenta, with a colorful sign next to it and a snail shell logo.
The opulence was even less than Mo Xi’s nightclub.
"This must be it. You have a strong power of observation!"
As Yuan Shan confirmed, she didn’t miss the opportunity to tease Fu Qian.
"Hmph."
Fu Qian was unabashedly immodest.
"Never underestimate the intuitiveness of an artist."
"Let’s go... I hope the artist Ah Lan is also in appreciation right now," said Yuan Shan, making an inviting gesture.
...
The two had come here, of course, because of the information provided earlier by Mogrim, looking for the lucky individual, Ah Lan, who had close contact with Midas.
Another straightforward reason for this was that the name Ah Lan had already appeared on the list provided by Mo Xi.
Put together, the credibility was quite high.
"Did you discover anything?"
Having recently made a fortune, Fu Qian generously paid the entrance fee, and they finally entered the place which had a much stronger human scent than the bar.
At the moment, it was clearly the peak time for the club. Surrounded by a wolfish crowd, a performance by three ladies on stage had already begun.
Although she clearly disliked such places, Chief Yuan was no naive girl and, after scanning around with a frown, seemed somewhat disappointed.
Among the audience, no one matched Ah Lan’s description, which had been confirmed twice.
"Yes, there is!"
However, to her surprise, in response to her casual inquiry, Fu Qian actually gave a positive answer.
"In the stands."
Without waiting for her to say anything more, he pointed his chin in that direction.
On stage? Ah Lan couldn’t possibly be squandering his wealth by working here, could he?
Unable to imagine such a scene, Yuan Shan focused her attention on the staff for the first time.
"If I’m not mistaken, the one with short hair gave you a flirtatious wink a few hours ago," said Fu Qian with a smile, explaining the next moment as she looked on, puzzled.
