"Am I dead!?"
This question carries infinite emotions of Jacob as if he had returned to that hospital bed, waiting for his impending death, and right now, he felt the same, with the only difference being that it was Immortika’s judgment standing between life and death!
"Are you dead? Hahahaha..." Immortika seemed extremely amused by this question, as if finding it ridiculous, "I think I don’t need to tell you the answer to this question, for you knew better than anyone if you’re alive or dead. So, let me ask in return, tell me, are you dead?"
The dimmed flames in Jacob’s hollowed sockets suddenly flickered after hearing Immortika’s words.
’Am I dead or alive?’ Jacob thought as he couldn’t help but look at the paused reality where that strange weapon had stabbed his skull.
At that moment, Jacob’s thoughts became clear, and something that he had overlooked all this time surfaced in his mind.
"The second Universal Godly Ability, the Infinite Remains, didn’t trigger!" Jacob blurted out the moment he realized his biggest trump card that made him unkillable hadn’t even triggered.
Furthermore, the Infinite Remains were the second ability of the Cursed Immortality, and Jacob knew there was no chance of it failing or being suppressed by anything.
"Hahahaha..." Immortika laughed, became wanton at that moment, "Well, it took you long enough to realize it, but since you did now, do you still think you are dead?"
Jacob no longer thought about being dead anymore, and it took off the biggest burden weighing down his heart, and he became calmer.
Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean that he was now worry-free; in fact, now that he knew that whoever attacked him didn’t intend to kill him, which was the most worrying part of them all.
"What exactly happened? That blade didn’t even give me a chance to resist, and at that time, it was like I...I..." Jacob wanted to describe that feeling, but he couldn’t because his cognitive abilities at that time seemed to have served entirely, and he became mindless.
"It was like your mind has been cut off from your instincts, right?" Immortika chortled, "Well, you can’t blame yourself because that ’weapon’ is made with a Forbidden Arcane Law, and its actual rank is something you can’t even comprehend yet."
Jacob was startled the moment he heard ’Forbidden Arcane Law’ because he knew what this implied, and his expression became gloomy and fearful.
"It was an Arcanist, meaning the heir of another USG, who made a move? Furthermore, since the ’Arcanist’ can even use the arcane law to such an extent to create a weapon, this means they are at an extremely high level of comprehension of their USG.
"Moreover, that ’hired’ assassin is definitely not the owner of that weapon, which means they weren’t personally there, or they wouldn’t have to go through all that trouble to just sneak up on me.
"But why would such a powerful entity come after me and go through all that trouble and even hand over such a powerful weapon to someone else?"
Jacob raised one question after another as he couldn’t understand why the other party was doing it, not to mention he had no idea how they found him or knew his identity.
Lastly, he was extremely curious about the attacker’s identity, who not only knew who he was but could also be trusted by an Arcanist with such a weapon.
But the most crucial question that came to Jacob’s mind at that moment was, "What is the Forbidden Arcane Law of this Arcanist?"
Jacob already knew that the Arcane Law of the Chaotic Darkness was most likely related to the UGS’s name, and his Arcane Law was the ’Infinity’, and now another Arcane Law has appeared. It was so strong that it instantly subdued him alive.
Furthermore, Jacob didn’t think that it was ’Hunter’ who had been hunting him, because this attacker wasn’t working alone and was most likely a pawn of the Arcanist.
"Whoa...I know you have many questions, and I think you’ll get most of them answered. For now, I’ll tell you what’s supposed to happen to you.
"If everything had gone ’right’, then we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now because you would be completely in a comatose state without having any ability to think or wake up like forever unless that weapon allows you to regain your mind," Immortika revealed.
Jacob was astounded as he solemnly asked, "Then what is going on here?"
"Hehehe, didn’t I tell you that if not for the Nightmare, you wouldn’t be here, and you should probably thank her profusely.
"Although their attack was well-thought-out without any loopholes or errors, what they hadn’t expected was that you were a Nightmare Contractor of the Beast of Primordial Nightmare, making your soul a completely different entity than any soul out there.
"That’s why, your consciousness or mind, instead of getting trapped in that weapon, was dragged into the Nightmare Realm by the Nightmare, and not even that weapon realized that it had missed its mark.
"Instead of sealing your consciousness, it has only sealed your hoax soul, which didn’t have your ’Dreamscape Realm’ because the Nightmare has meticulously hidden it without even realizing it by just following her instincts.
"Lastly, you being my heir has also played the biggest part in waking up your consciousness despite missing most of your soul. So, if there is even one of these essential components missing, you might not wake up this quickly...hehe..." Immortika explained with a hint of morbid amusement as if telling its favorite heroic tale.
Jacob finally realized everything that had transpired after he got attacked and almost got sealed away.
At that moment, even in his stone-cold heart, a hint of warmth appeared for Nyx because just as Immortika had said, if he didn’t have Nyx, the consequences of being sealed by an Arcanist would be unimaginable.
Jacob was about to speak, but Immortika spoke first as if already aware of what he wanted to ask, and stated with great amusement...
"Well, the show isn’t over, actually. Once you continue to watch, you’ll get your answers, and trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg because what happened is something you can’t even imagine, hahahaha...!"
Under Immortika’s mirthful laughter, the paused reality started to play again, startling Jacob!
