Chapter 646: The rage of a pretty mage
Cass didn’t understand how such a shitty day could follow what had been such a wonderful night.
It all started with the morning. Waking up had been great. Maybe he’d woken up a little late, but he was in Lucian’s arms. He had been safe and warm, loved. Then, Sam had shown up with the damn tonic and everything went to hell in a handbasket rather quickly.
He found out that his eyes hadn’t turned back, they had remained the same. The colour of his eyes, the white part, had gone black. Probably permanently in Cass’ opinion, but Sam had a feeling he could change it back once his transformation into a sex demon was over. Cass did not like those ominous words.
He also found out that his ’powers’ whatever the fuck they were, had gotten stronger. To Cass it looked like he had the ability to make people attracted to him. That made perfect sense since that was his demon origin story, but he hated that it worked on everyone.
Thankfully, the sunglasses that Cass had been getting used to wearing because his eyes had grown ’peculiar’ helped break that spell. At least, for non humans. They didn’t know how it would work on humans, and Gideon would not be a good tester since he was already in love with Cass.
It was why Lucian had remained mostly unaffected since he already thought Cass was cute and sweet and made the sun rise in the morning.
So that was why Sir Forsythe had to be warned not to look Cass in the eye. Cass hated that, hated that Sir Forsythe had to be told to avoid anything about Cass, but there was nothing he could do. Sir Forsythe, for his part, suggested that maybe he should be the first human to look him in the eyes.
Everyone protested, and that was that.
However, the thing that made Cass the most irrationally angry, the most irate, that had made him lose his ever-loving mind and throw things around like a child throwing a tantrum, was the fact that none, NONE of his clothes fit.
Cass was fuming. Even Sam seemed surprised, while that fucker, Lucian, looked pleased as fucking punch. He leaned against the wall, listening to Cass as he raged about the room like a toddler. Even Sam would jerk at something he would do, wincing every once in a while but Lucian was beaming with pride.
Cass knew why. The fucker KNEW it was because of him. He’d finally fed Cass enough to put some meat on his bones, but he’d done it too quickly so now Cass had nothing to wear!
"Shall I go down to my den and fetch something for you to wear?" Lucian asked, bemused. Cass was huffing and puffing, a monster in a rage as his glowing, heart-shaped red eyes leveled Lucian with a glare. Lucian didn’t even bat an eyelash. In fact, even his smile seemed to grow even more bemused.
"Can I come with you?" Sam asked, glancing at Cass. "I feel I would be able to grab a few things that I know would fit my Lord." Sam said. Lucian turned to stare at Sam for a long moment before he nodded. Then he stood straight, pulling at the bottom of his shirt and pulled it up and over his head. He tossed it to Sam, a smile on his face.
"I’ll let the other two know what is going on. Help him get dressed, would you Sam? I wanted to do it myself but I feel I might lose some of the fingers he loves so much." Lucian said with a wink. Cass snarled as Lucian left with a laugh.
He wasn’t even above admitting that he was acting like a beast. How couldn’t he? He’d barely just gotten used to his old body, and now it had shifted again. His ass was too bit, his forearms, at least, were now full enough he couldn’t feel bone easily, but why were his hips so fucking wide? He was a man, for fucks sake!
He ignored the newer organ between his legs. That wasn’t who Cass had been originally, that was an added thing. Cass identified as a man first, whatever the fuck he was now, second.
So Cass felt his was completely in his right to freak the fuck out. In fact, it had been a while since he’d had a tantrum like this as Lord Blackburn and Cass was not ashamed to admit that it felt good. It wasn’t hurting anyone, and it was letting off some steam. He was just fucking pissed because what the hell was he going to wear?
Sam approached with Lucian’s shirt, cautious like Cass was some kind of wild animal that he needed to be wary of. Cass snarled, even more angry that Sam of all people was being so meek around him. However, he let Sam come closer and even let Sam put the shirt on him. He grumbled and grunted the whole time, acting very much like a giant cat who hated every minute of an experience, but when Sam pulled back and Cass was in the shirt, he had a whole new reason to freak out.
He was swimming in the fabric. Positively, absolutely swimming. Cass’ whole face was red as he realised, again, how much of a difference there was between Lucian and Cass in size, and how the dragon could KEEP GETTING BIGGER. It was a blow, a dangerous one, and he was getting ready to throw another fit when a thought struck him.
He did have every right to get angry, but why was he...so angry? Why was he smashing things, throwing a fit, pouncing around and screaming like a child? Cassian wasn’t like that when he threw fits, not really, and Cass hadn’t thrown a fit like this, ever. What was going on?
It was when Cass had that thought that the anger rushed out of him only to be replaced by cold, hard fear. It was around that moment that Lucian and Edgar appeared. Cass didn’t have to wonder where Gideon was. He was probably downstairs with the guards, patrolling the area and making sure everything was secure.
"Why am I having crazy mood swings?" Cass asked them, and Lucian’s expression softened.
"Edgar and I elected to summon the doctor again, Cass, especially after we fed you properly." Lucian spoke softly, and while that made Cass furrow his brow, he fought against the rage building inside of him. This felt familiar and strange all at the same time.
Edgar took a look around the closet, taking in the damage that Cass had done. It wasn’t much, a few shelves damaged here and there. Cass had done a lot more tossing clothes around them actually harming anything. Edgar then turned his gaze towards Cass.
Edgar was wearing a relatively normal outfit. A light blue number that made him look even more handsome than normal. It threw his already pretty blonde hair in contrast, his eyes warm and filled with concern as he looked over Cass.
"I’m concerned about this attraction thing as well. I didn’t notice anything when I was getting up for the day, but maybe you had to wake up before I noticed anything. Gideon didn’t seem all that different either. But, if you’re also feeling strange and emotional, maybe you’re hungry? You didn’t eat a meal last night, er, a normal human meal, or breakfast." Edgar at least looked a little flustered to bring it up in front of Sam, Byron and Sir Forsythe. He might not have heard what he said, but the other two certainly did.
Sam placed his fist flat against the palm of his hand, smiling at Edgar brightly.
"Oh! That might be a great idea, Lord Edgar. I’ll make sure to send for something to be prepared while Lord Lucian and I are off finding more attire for the Lord." Sam said. Cass frowned, but couldn’t really find a reason to argue with them. Maybe he was just...human hungry? But he didn’t have a desire for anything inside of him. As far as Cass was concerned, he was satiated. Fully.
"I fucking hate this." Cass muttered. Edgar gave him a sympathetic look.
"It’s alright, Cass. We aren’t going to get mad at you. You’re figuring this out in real time, and we’re here to support you. Do you want a hug?" He asked. It should have felt ridiculous coming from Edgar at this moment, but Cass found himself nodding. Edgar moved, opening up his arms for Cass and Cass welcomed him.
He hugged Edgar tightly, pressing his face into Edgar’s collar and letting out a shaky breath. Damn him and his unstable emotions and fuck the fact that they came on so suddenly. That wasn’t fair to him.
A soft, warm hand pressed on Cass’ back before he felt Lucian kiss the top of his head.
"We’ll get through it together. It’s alright, love. Throw as many tantrums as you want. Break everything if you so desire. We’ll be here to pick up the pieces." Lucian’s voice was soft and warm and damnit, it made Cass’ eyes water. Cass burrowed deeper into Edgar’s arms, Edgar sighing softly as he held him tighter.
"Go. I’ve got him. I’m sure you’ll be back before Sam is but I’ll keep Byron and Sir Forsythe with me in case the Doctor shows up early." Edgar told Lucian.
"What a good little house husband you’ve turned into, Eddie." Lucian purred. Cass felt Edgar stiffen in his arms, thought he was going to fly off the handle like Cass had, but instead he huffed.
"Of course I’m a good house husband. Did you think I would be a bad one?" He snapped, annoyed. Lucian leaned in, Cass could feel it, and knew that he had kissed the top of Edgar’s head too.
"No, I didn’t. I was praising you, Eddie, but I see you took it as if I wasn’t. I didn’t mean it that way." Lucian said before Cass felt him move away, followed by Sam. Cass clung to Edgar for a few more minutes, sniffling, before he let go of the vampire.
"Sorry. You were probably doing important things." Cass muttered. Edgar probably was. He’d become an asset to Cass in the time that he’d started helping him. Edgar was frowning at Cass, closer to a scowl as he picked up his chin in between his fingers and raised Cass’ head up.
"Hey, none of that. You’re the important thing that I like doing, everything else can wait. If you’re not doing well or not feeling well, it’s important for me to know." Edgar sniffed. "Did you need to take your tonic? Is your body feeling okay after yesterday?" He asked and that quickly Cass was flustered.
"I-I feel fine. I’m not sore and I don’t need the tonic." Cass rushed out quickly. Edgar stared at him, watching him with narrowed eyes before he nodded.
"Okay, if you say so. Do you want to go to your office and wait? I’m sure Sam will be back soon to brew you a cup of tea. Until then, can you wait?" He asked and Cass nodded. Edgar smiled at him, taking his hand and began to turn Cass towards the door when he realised he was in an oversized shirt of Lucian’s. Cass halted their movement, forcing Edgar to give him a quizzical look.
"I-I can’t go out there!" Cass protested suddenly.
"Why? You look cute, and these are your rooms. You’re allowed to wear whatever you want. The gods would agree." Edgar told him. Cass flushed. He didn’t think the gods would agree to him going out like this, though.
"I, uh," Edgar pulled Cass closer, staring at him.
"Cass, you’re gorgeous. I don’t want you staying in this small, windowless room. Please, would you come with me?" Edgar asked, fluttering his eyelashes as he stared deeply into Cass’ eyes. Cass was moving again before he even registered that Edgar was the one who had seduced him instead.
Cass was more embarrassed about that as they headed for the office.
