Chapter 647: Luo Si Slays the Enemy
“Luo Si has gone mad, he’s gone mad!”
“Attack together!”
“Kill this traitor!”
Xie Sichao, the White Bone Crocodile Demon, and other powerful beings roared in fury as they surrounded Luo Si.
Although Luo Si had received guidance from Gray Bone Elder and had steadily risen within the Wangchuan Underworld, he was ultimately still an outsider. His time there had been too short, and he had never truly gained trust.
His appointment as the commander of the expeditionary army attacking White Paper Immortal City had merely been because the other senior figures did not want to bear responsibility. They had simply pushed this hot potato onto him.
In essence, he was still an outsider.
He lacked time, lacked opportunities, and lacked connections to truly integrate into the system of the Wangchuan Underworld.
Even Luo Si himself had long maintained a subconscious distance from the Wangchuan Underworld because of Gray Bone Elder’s guidance—after all, the elder had told him he would one day meet the destined lord of his life.
However, Luo Si was a Nascent Soul–level cultivator. Since he had been appointed commander of the army, his personal combat strength had naturally been acknowledged by top figures such as the Lord of Wangchuan Prefecture.
He easily blocked the encirclement and broke away, his body streaking forward like a radiant arc of light as he rapidly charged toward Master Hanyan.
“Let me handle him!”
“You two leave first.”
Ning Zhuo and Qing Yan exchanged a glance, then both turned and withdrew from the battlefield, quickly linking up with the Qingjiao Army.
Seeing the Qingjiao Army charging like a ferocious tiger, Xie Sichao and the others immediately abandoned their pursuit of Luo Si and rushed to take command of their troops.
However, the composition of Luo Si’s forces did not consist solely of cultivators.
There were also a massive number of ghosts.
Wuuu—!
Amid ghostly wails and howls, Big-Head Ghosts, Little-Head Ghosts, Ghost Mothers, Drowned Ghosts, Hanged Ghosts, Flayed Ghosts, and many others suddenly became the source of chaos, turning on their own allied troops with ruthless violence.
Most of these ghosts lacked intelligence and simply obeyed the highest military command with strict discipline.
The Qingjiao Army was far too small. Facing Luo Si’s massive force was like a mouse attacking an elephant. The enemy’s sheer size made total destruction unrealistic.
But under Luo Si’s orders, the elephant had begun tearing itself apart.
The entire army was collapsing from within.
Xie Sichao and the others struggled to stabilize the situation, but the results were minimal.
“The battle situation has collapsed. There’s no way we can save ourselves anymore.”
“We can only wait for the Imperial Guard’s reinforcements!”
However, when they looked for outside help, the Imperial Guard was also overwhelmed.
The cause lay with the Old Mother of Hundred Ghosts.
This ancient cultivator had deep foundations and specialized in enslaving ghosts. She had carefully selected and raised over a hundred powerful ghost entities, earning her the title Old Mother of Hundred Ghosts.
But once she died, the hundred powerful ghosts she had raised lost all restraint and gained complete freedom.
Some fled.
Some stood around in confusion.
Others, filled with hatred and resentment, attacked the Imperial Guard with vicious fury.
Thus, in a rather awkward coincidence, both the Imperial Guard and Luo Si’s forces fell into internal chaos for the exact same reason.
Luo Si had already anticipated this before turning traitor. Therefore, he had made the Old Mother of Hundred Ghosts his primary target, using her ghost pets to shape the battlefield.
The entire Qingjiao Army rode Black Blood Paper Horses.
Ghastly green ghostfire burned fiercely inside the paper horses. Tremendous power coursed through their rigid paper skeletons, transmitting throughout their bodies. Each hoofstep thundered like rolling thunder.
The paper horses remained silent, making them seem even more fearless. Their silent charge carried a pressure even more suffocating than any war cry.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A series of dull impacts echoed as countless cultivators from Luo Si’s army were crushed along the Qingjiao Army’s charging path.
“Loose arrows! Throw spears!” junior officers shouted desperately, directing their troops after buying time with heavy casualties.
Jiao Ma’s father waved the Bone Blade Battle Flag, expending military strength to activate a defensive military art.
The Bone Blade Battle Flag released a layer of pale green light that quickly enveloped every soldier of the Qingjiao Army.
Arrows and spears flying toward them seemed to strike an invisible swamp, slowing and deflecting. In the end, fewer than one in ten hit their targets—and even those struck weakly.
At the very front was always Qing Chi.
The ghost girl charged ahead alone, her entire body blazing with raging green flames.
The flames even enveloped her mount. As she rushed forward, cultivators burned and screamed.
With every punch and kick, blazing green fist prints and palm strikes exploded outward.
With military power reinforcing her, and Luo Si’s forces already in an unprecedented weakened state, none could resist Qing Chi’s ferocity. Several Golden Core cultivators fell beneath her attacks.
Following behind her were elite Qingjiao soldiers wielding Crescent Remnant Sabers.
They leaned low against their mounts as though fused with the skeletons of the paper horses. The instant they plunged into the enemy ranks, they swung their blades.
“Woooong—clang—!”
A strange metallic vibration tore through the air. It was not the sound of steel clashing, but more like a frozen river splitting apart.
Blade light slashed forth like ribbons of moonlight. From cracks of icy frost erupted deep blue lunar radiance, forming condensed saber beams edged with jagged spatial ripples.
Wherever the saber beams passed, space itself seemed frozen and split by the razor-sharp moonlight.
Heavy armor, defensive spells, even weapons raised to block—everything was cut apart, frozen, and shattered.
Then the beams cleaved through bodies. Whether flesh or ghost, the victims froze instantly under the extreme cold before shattering into blue-frost powder.
Following the saber troops were soldiers wielding Void-Rending Long Spears.
The spearheads were not forged metal but tightly compressed layers of talisman paper.
The spears thrust forward.
“Pupupupupu—!”
Dense piercing sounds rang like rain.
The fluffy middle section of the spearheads exploded, sending compressed talisman fragments spraying forward. The talismans activated, tearing space apart and forming terrifying storms of void fragments.
Countless enemies were riddled with holes by the spraying void shards.
When the spears were withdrawn, only half the spearhead remained. But fragments of talisman paper quickly shifted from the shaft, gathering at the front and forming a brand new spear tip.
The Crescent Remnant Sabers opened the path.
The Void-Rending Long Spears then annihilated any powerful individuals resisting.
“Stop them! Stop them!” officers roared with bloodshot eyes.
But the Qingjiao Army moved like a massive serpent through the enemy ranks, its blade edge terrifyingly sharp.
Anyone who blocked their path died instantly.
Of course, the Qingjiao Army paid a price as well. Several soldiers died, and over a hundred were wounded to varying degrees.
Seeing this, Qing Chi inhaled deeply and suddenly consumed forty percent of the army’s military power to empower herself.
She cast a spell.
Spell—Withering and Flourishing Fire Ring.
The blazing green flames around her suddenly expanded outward, forming a massive green fire ring.
The flames swept over the Qingjiao soldiers, bringing scorching vitality.
Their wounds stopped bleeding instantly. New flesh and pale green skin grew visibly before the eye.
Even the Black Blood Paper Horses reacted—the ghostfire in their chests flared brighter, their paper bodies becoming fuller as their skeletal frames hummed with stronger yin vitality.
But when the flames reached the enemy, the scene was entirely different.
Enemies screamed as their flesh shriveled and carbonized in the fire. Bones were exposed and burned into twisted black charcoal.
Most enemy soldiers rapidly shrank until nothing remained but charred bones and oily ash beneath shattered armor.
The Qingjiao Army almost completely recovered.
Morale skyrocketed.
Qing Chi gasped heavily, eyes blazing with fighting spirit like a dragon.
Meanwhile, Master Hanyan and Luo Si were locked in battle.
Cold energy surged around the former as countless ice spikes formed and shot forward like a torrential storm.
Luo Si held a fishing rod, flicking the line to create rippling spatial distortions that blocked the attacks.
Master Hanyan sneered, trying to pressure him with words.
“Luo Si, how foolish you are!”
“Even if you stall me for now, what does it matter?”
“Don’t forget—your Résumé Record is still stored in the secret vault of Wangchuan Immortal City. The moment you turned traitor, the order had already been sent back!”
“At any moment you could be cursed to death!”
“Turn back now and abandon darkness for light—you might still escape death!”
Luo Si’s eyes remained calm.
No fear. No hesitation.
Only a near-martyr-like focus.
It was as if he once again stood before an abyss—just as he had long ago in the Dragon-Severing Gorge.
“Master Hanyan, you need not remind me. I know this well.”
“But I believe in Gray Bone Elder.”
“The moment I led my army here, I received his spiritual sense transmission.”
“My destined lord stands before me. I refuse to believe I will be easily cursed to death.”
Master Hanyan sneered again.
“To entrust your life to someone else? What foolishness!”
Luo Si replied calmly.
“If Gray Bone Elder had not saved me back then, I would have long lost my mind and become a ghost.”
“If he could save me, why would he harm me?”
“And over the years, without his guidance, how could I have risen so quickly?”
“You’re being used!” Master Hanyan roared angrily.
“Even if he uses me or harms me, I’ll simply repay him with my life.” Luo Si smiled freely.
“Stubborn fool! Die!” Master Hanyan was completely enraged.
Ice Spell—Freezing Kill Line!
A deep blue beam shot out instantly—far thicker and more condensed than when he had used it against Ning Zhuo and Qing Yan.
Like the brush of the Judge of Hell, the icy line carried lethal killing intent as it shot toward Luo Si’s upper dantian between the eyebrows.
Luo Si dodged urgently, his speed astonishing.
But Master Hanyan only needed to move a finger to redirect the beam.
Wherever it passed, frost-white trails lingered in the air.
Realizing he could not evade forever, Luo Si flicked his wrist.
The Three Lives Hanging Hook at the end of his fishing line suddenly vanished.
Clink!
A crystal-clear sound rang out like ice shattering in glass.
The hook appeared inside Master Hanyan’s body.
Luo Si yanked the rod violently.
Master Hanyan sneered. “My Cold Smoke Body has no conventional weak points—this is useless—ugh!”
His sneer froze.
Horror replaced it.
The Three Lives Hanging Hook ripped away a large portion of his mana, vitality, and spirit before flying back.
His defenses had been useless.
At the same time, Luo Si was struck by the Freezing Kill Line, his entire left arm frozen solid.
Master Hanyan’s smoke-like body visibly thinned, his aura dropping by thirty percent.
The two had exchanged a devastating blow.
Neither gained a clear advantage.
They continued fighting from the sky to the ground and back into the air again.
Master Hanyan grew increasingly alarmed.
He had believed that without military power reinforcement, Luo Si’s strength as a military strategist cultivator would not rival his own.
After more than ten exchanges, that assumption completely shattered.
“If he’s this strong without military reinforcement… how many moves could I survive if he had it?”
“No!”
“I must kill him!”
Ice Spell—Eternal Ice Prison!
His hands pressed downward as massive Nascent Soul–level mana erupted.
His body expanded into a surging cold current that engulfed Luo Si.
Space itself froze wherever it passed.
The cold current wrapped around Luo Si and swallowed him completely.
It condensed into a gigantic mountain of ice, sealing him at its core.
The ice mountain trembled as Master Hanyan’s laughter echoed.
“Luo Si, dying beneath my ultimate technique is an honor.”
But then—
Around Luo Si’s frozen body, an almost invisible fishing line began to move.
Like a spirit snake, it swam through the ice—ignoring the frozen space entirely.
Wangchuan Guiding Line!
The line pierced out of the ice mountain.
Luo Si suddenly vanished and reappeared at the front end of the line.
Before Master Hanyan could react, Luo Si seized the line and yanked it violently.
Fishing Technique—Hooking Fate of the Mortal World!
Master Hanyan screamed in agony.
The entire ice mountain exploded into countless fragments.
The fragments turned back into cold energy, attempting to reform his body—but it failed.
Moments later, the cold mist evaporated like morning fog under sunlight.
Master Hanyan was dead.
Luo Si’s face turned pale.
His injuries were severe, and his aura had dropped sharply.
After landing slowly on the ground, he spread out his fishing line around him and began urgent recovery.
Meanwhile, the Qingjiao Army had already crushed Luo Si’s troops.
Ning Zhuo, Qing Chi, and Qing Yan were utterly exhausted. Their mana and stamina were nearly depleted.
Their comrades were in even worse condition.
They had only several hundred soldiers, while the enemy numbered vastly more. The Qingjiao Army had essentially been a snake swallowing an elephant—fighting at full strength constantly to prevent the enemy from reorganizing.
If even a portion of the enemy regrouped, it would become a difficult bone to chew.
Fortunately, everyone fought with absolute unity. Ning Zhuo repeatedly launched solo strikes, while Qing Chi’s battlefield instincts crushed every attempt at regrouping.
Huff… huff…
Ning Zhuo panted heavily. Qing Chi’s entire body was soaked in sweat.
They had achieved astonishing results.
But they had reached their limits.
If the battle continued, they themselves would collapse first.
“Not good!” Ning Zhuo suddenly looked back, his expression turning grim.
Luo Si’s forces had already completely collapsed.
But the Imperial Guard’s side—without another Qingjiao Army to suppress it—had begun forming organized remnants of troops.
