Chapter 1134 - 1136: Don’t Kill Him_1
Ning Yu nodded and, without asking any more questions, began to take out a compass and some vermilion from his bosom. Then, facing the compass, he muttered some incantations that Bai Ruozhu dared not listen to any longer this time.
After that, he walked around with the compass, sprinkling vermilion in one direction, and the spell he recited grew somewhat faster.
Bai Ruozhu stood by, unable to help with anything, and could only nervously hold onto Jiang Yichun’s hand. This was the only clue they had; if Ning Yu also failed, they would have to search little by little in and around the Capital, but that would take too much time. Who knew if they would still be on time to find them...
She dared not think further, fearing that her excessive worry would prevent her from staying calm.
After Ning Yu turned around for what seemed like ages, he suddenly spoke up, "Found it, follow me."
Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun quickly followed him. He looked at the compass and, without looking back, walked forward with surprising speed, subtly revealing a certain step method.
It turned out Ning Yu was also a martial artist, and not a bad one at that.
Their search led them through four alleys and after a lengthy detour, Ning Yu pointed at a dilapidated little mansion and said, "The trail ends here. You guys take over the investigation. I’m not good at solving cases."
Jiang Yichun thanked him with a fist salute and led his men into the Yard, beginning a thorough search.
Bai Ruozhu nodded her thanks to Ning Yu and promptly followed into the Yard, while Ning Yu put away the compass and also stepped inside.
"Master, we’ve found a Secret Passage!" The voice of Thunder erupted from a dry well in the backyard.
Everyone hurried to the edge of the well, and Jiang Yichun, holding Bai Ruozhu by the waist, carried her down into the dry well, followed by his subordinates, and Ning Yu also took the initiative to follow.
The Secret Passage was pitch dark, so Jiang Yichun lit a torch. The group passed through and soon found another courtyard.
Jiang Yichun gestured for everyone to remain silent. They didn’t know the situation of the other party and it was best not to startle the enemy.
He hugged Bai Ruozhu as they emerged from the Secret Passage and carefully hid in the corner of the courtyard before signalling Thunder and the others to investigate. Soon, Thunder gestured to Jiang Yichun, silently mouthing: Found them!
Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun rushed over and saw both Elder Xuan Jizi and Xiaosi unconscious inside a Room. Xuan Jizi had suffered serious internal injuries, while Xiaosi’s face bore a clotted blood scratch, his lips a dark purple, and his neck showed purple bruises as if he had been strangled.
"Xiaosi, your sister is here!" Bai Ruozhu ran over and hugged Xiaosi with a choked voice.
Jiang Yichun immediately ordered his men to take Elder Xuan Jizi and prepared to leave quickly. However, from outside came eerie wails, and a voice that was neither male nor female declared, "Someone managed to break my Ghost Face Array. Well, no one leaves today. Let them join their teacher and student in death!"
A chilling wind blew in, blowing open all the doors and windows with loud bangs. Suddenly, a fog seemed to envelop Bai Ruozhu and the others, making it impossible to see clearly around them!
"It’s a Fog Array, be careful, I need time to break the Array," Ning Yu’s voice came through, not very far from them, but he wasn’t standing still and seemed to be breaking the Array.
Bai Ruozhu held Xiaosi and dared not move rashly, but soon she smelled something amiss and urgently said, "It’s poisonous! Everyone cover your mouth and nose!"
The group hurriedly did as instructed, but they still inhaled some of the poisonous fog. Fortunately, those present had strong inner strength and could temporarily resist the onset of the poison.
Bai Ruozhu took out a bottle of Detoxifying Pills and said, "Those who can hear my voice, come and get the Antidote first."
"Ruozhu, don’t speak!" Jiang Yichun shouted, but it was too late, Ghost Face had already launched an attack towards Bai Ruozhu.
Bai Ruozhu instinctively hugged Xiaosi and rolled on the spot, narrowly avoiding Ghost Face’s attack. Jiang Yichun couldn’t see the situation and didn’t know whether Bai Ruozhu was injured, which made him anxious. He could only move towards where Bai Ruozhu had been speaking before but found that due to the Array’s influence, the places where they had been standing had changed.
He listened carefully but couldn’t determine the enemy’s direction due to the strange laughter echoing from all around.
"Achun, he can definitely see everyone’s position. Listen for my voice and find me." Bai Ruozhu called out and activated her lightness skill to dodge left and right. Suddenly, she felt a sharp object scratch her sleeve and a burning pain on her arm. She knew her skin must have been broken and even felt that she had been poisoned.
The Ghost Face had scratched her with his nails. His martial arts weren’t a big threat to her; it was only just now, when Jiang Yichun had surged forward to block for a moment—although he looked like a headless fly swatting randomly—he had still affected Ghost Face’s strike.
Ghost Face sneered and kicked a jar to the side. He saw Jiang Yichun get drawn over and with eyes full of triumph, attacked Bai Ruozhu.
At that moment, just as Bai Ruozhu had steadied herself after dodging, she saw Ghost Face about to grab her throat during that slight pause.
Just in the nick of time, the fog suddenly cleared, and everything became visible. Bai Ruozhu saw a "Ghost Hand" reaching towards her.
She dodged in haste and immediately heard a clang. A compass flew over and struck Ghost Face’s arm, causing him to stagger. Jiang Yichun leapt forward and pulled Bai Ruozhu to safety.
"Are you alright?" he asked softly.
"I’m fine; we need to detoxify Xiaosi first, be careful," Bai Ruozhu replied as she stuffed a Detoxification Pill into his mouth.
Jiang Yichun stood up and rushed towards Ghost Face, who was attacking. But Ghost Face turned and rushed towards Elder Xuan Jizi, who was being supported by others, seizing him to try to make an escape.
Just then, Ning Yu flew forward to block Ghost Face’s path, with Jiang Yichun also catching up. The two engaged in a fight with Ghost Face.
Being encumbered with Elder Xuan Jizi, Ghost Face had to abandon the unconscious man temporarily. His fighting style was very strange, as if he really were a ghost, not using any weapons but his "Ghost Claw" to attack.
"Playing tricks like a ghost, you don’t know you’re seeking death!" Jiang Yichun shouted coldly as his Sword Flower technique transformed into a series of shadows chopping towards Ghost Face.
Ning Yu seized the opportunity to attack Ghost Face from another side. Before long, Ghost Face was overwhelmed and wounded by Jiang Yichun’s piercing strike, falling heavily to the ground.
"Speak, who are you? Why do you want to capture Elder Xuan Jizi and Xiaosi?" Jiang Yichun demanded sternly.
Elder Xuan Jizi’s ghostly laughter had stopped, and he was now making low moans from the pain, his voice unnaturally fluctuating between male and female, adding an extra layer of eeriness.
By now at Bai Ruozhu’s side, Xiaosi had been revived. Grasping Bai Ruozhu’s hand anxiously, he said, "Sister, hurry and save my master."
Bai Ruozhu quickly hugged him saying, "Don’t be afraid, your master is alright now."
Following her gaze, Xiaosi finally took a breath of relief, just in time to see Ghost Face being held at sword-point by Jiang Yichun.
"Brother-in-law, don’t kill him!" Xiaosi shouted urgently.
