Chapter 1121 - 1123: Jade Pin Helps, White Hair Exposed_1
The emperor looked at Yao Yuxuan, "What is this about, Minister Yao?"
Yao Yuxuan squinted at Fu Yiyi with a somewhat helpless tone, "I, Yao Yuxuan, haven’t diagnosed illnesses for many years, yet I almost let the goose peck out my eyes."
Bai Ruozhu breathed a huge sigh of relief. She had nearly been punished. Causing a concubine to lose the emperor’s child could have meant, even if she wasn’t beheaded, that she would be spending some time in prison and receive dozens of heavy beatings.
Fu Yiyi’s face turned several shades paler. She hurriedly looked at Yao Yuxuan and asked, "What do you mean by this, Mr. Yao?"
Yao Yuxuan snorted coldly, took out a bottle of medicine, opened the bottle, and directly sprinkled the drug powder onto Fu Yiyi’s head and face.
"Ah! What are you doing?" Fu Yiyi exclaimed in alarm, "Your Majesty, save me!"
Unfortunately for her, Yao Yuxuan’s reputation as a man of integrity had long since entered people’s hearts, so the emperor did not believe that his actions were intended to harm Fu Yiyi.
Yao Yuxuan calmly placed the medicine bottle on the table, then bowed to the emperor, saying, "Your Majesty, the medication used has disrupted the lady’s pulse, nearly deceiving my eyes. However, this drug powder will make everything clear. Soon you will see whether her face turns yellow, then you’ll know."
"Nonsense! Who knows whether your drug powder is real? You, you must be someone bought by Bai Ruozhu!" Fu Yiyi yelled out. She was actually feeling guilty, thus her struggle was fierce and, in a moment, all pretence of poise was gone.
The emperor, impatient, frowned and waved his hand, saying, "Be silent, Beauty Fu. By seniority, Minister Yao is also my distant uncle. I trust his character."
"Hmph, who doesn’t know of Yao Yuxuan’s unblemished character and pride? Would he harm you, a mere beauty?" The Empress Dowager said with a displeased expression. In her heart, Yao Yuxuan was the Meng of her youth, a once-in-a-lifetime dream that she missed out on. She would not tolerate anyone insulting him.
Fu Yiyi, frightened, dared not speak anymore and lowered her head to hide the panic in her eyes. She did not know of Yao Yuxuan’s additional identity. What should she do now?
By this time, her face had already started to turn yellow. She couldn’t see it herself, but everyone else had noticed.
Yao Yuxuan took her pulse again, his face revealing an "as I suspected" expression.
Bai Ruozhu felt an itch to take Fu Yiyi’s pulse herself, but she had to avoid suspicion, so she could only look on eagerly.
"Your Majesty," Yao Yuxuan suddenly said, "Beauty Fu indeed used a medication to disrupt her pulse. She would even bleed upon collision, simulating a miscarriage. But in fact, she was never pregnant."
Bai Ruozhu was also shocked. She wasn’t actually pregnant? Could it be that she lost her virginity before entering the palace, and the timeline didn’t match?
The crowd was also astounded. The other Imperial Doctors were dumbfounded, looking at each other. They all thought that Beauty Fu was pregnant and had accidentally miscarried. How could they have been mistaken?
Yao Yuxuan smiled, a smile that was quite dashing. The Empress Dowager couldn’t help but become infatuated by the side. He was still the same as in his youth, that smile so carefree...
"Everyone please take the pulse again, and you will understand," Yao Yuxuan made an inviting gesture.
Jiu Sheng was the first to rush over to feel the pulse. His expression changed from solemn to ecstatic. He kept nodding and said, "Just as I thought, just as I thought, Master Yao indeed possesses supreme medical skills. Jiu has learned his lesson."
The other Imperial Doctors also took turns to feel the pulse, and indeed came to the same conclusion: Master Yao’s bottle of Drug Powder had directly reverted Fu Yiyi back to her original state.
"Could this, could this be a play orchestrated by Beauty Fu herself, targeting the Bai Family?" The Empress spoke opportunely, considering in her heart how to eliminate this Little Demon, Fu Yiyi, who dared to play such tricks.
She could even foresee that Fu Yiyi might likewise gain the Emperor’s sympathy. Having lost a "child," the Emperor would naturally feel obliged to compensate her more in the future.
The Emperor’s face was also dreadfully grim. He had promoted Fu Yiyi to give General Fu an opportunity, but that did not mean he would allow the women in his Harem to play schemes and make a fool of him. Furthermore, with Fu Yiyi possessing such means to obtain that kind of medicine and being so scheming, it was truly unsafe to keep such a person in the Harem.
Fu Yiyi could obviously sense the murderous intent emanating from the Emperor, and she trembled all over in fright. She hurriedly cried and said, "Your Majesty, Yiyi has been wronged. I had no idea I was pregnant; I never claimed to be. When the Imperial Doctors came and saw me bleeding, they said I had lost my child. I was so heartbroken I wished I could have died with the child, but I do not understand how all this happened, who drugged me."
"And what about the matter with the Soul-soothing leaf? Your previous explanation is unacceptable. Do you think you can deceive the Imperial Doctors and misuse medicine on the Empress Dowager?" The Emperor smashed his teacup onto the table with a snap, clearly showing his rage.
"Different patients call for different Formulas. You told the Imperial Doctors that you were using it for yourself and then carelessly applied it to the Empress Dowager without notifying anyone. Are you saying you really had no ulterior motives?" the Empress also added.
Fu Yiyi, who could no longer care about her weakened state from the bleeding, struggled to get up from the Soft lounge and knelt down, kowtowing to the Emperor, "Your Majesty, you must believe me. I truly know nothing. Someone must be trying to harm me. As a mere beauty, where would I acquire such strange medicine? If I really had such ability, I wouldn’t need to ask the Imperial Doctors for a remedy for headaches."
Just then, the eunuch’s shrill voice came from outside, "Princess, you cannot barge in. The Emperor has ordered that no one may enter..."
Before the eunuch could finish, Princess Diao Bin had already rushed into the room in a panic. As soon as she entered, she anxiously said, "Imperial Brother, I heard that Ruozhu has been arrested. I trust her character; you must investigate thoroughly!"
Princess Diao Bin had avoided going out because of her white hair and stayed mostly in her Bedchamber, so she was late in receiving the news and was completely unaware of Fu Yiyi’s current desperate situation.
Bai Ruozhu looked at Princess Diao Bin, who was wearing a wig, and felt a surge of warmth in her heart. By running out like this, it was very easy for others to spot her white hair.
The Emperor was clearly not prepared for this, but Princess Diao Bin was anxious. She knelt down with a thump, bowing her head to kowtow, "I implore you to discern the truth, Imperial Brother!"
At that moment, the unexpected happened. The wig on Princess Diao Bin’s head suddenly fell off. It must have been due to her haste on the way over that caused the wig to loosen, and now a bow made it fall.
In the blink of an eye, Bai Ruozhu dashed forward, stepped in front of Princess Diao Bin, and snatched up her fallen wig, quickly covering the full head of silver hair underneath.
Yet, even with Bai Ruozhu’s speed, while she blocked the view of several Imperial Doctors, she couldn’t block Fu Yiyi’s line of sight. Immediately, Fu Yiyi’s face changed, and with eyes wide with shock, she pointed at Princess Diao Bin and exclaimed, "How could the Princess..."
