Chapter 1107 - 1109: Don’t Come Back Once You Leave_1
Back in the Yard, Jiang Yichun wrapped his arms around Bai Ruozhu, his tone tinged with teasing, "Once again my lady has saved me, I am truly ashamed."
With her hands, Bai Ruozhu lifted and wrapped them around his neck, smiling as she said, "Even without me, His Majesty would have released you in a couple of days, it was just for show to others." Besides, he had severely punished Zhou Jue to stand up for her.
Although he claimed it was in accordance with the Emperor’s wishes, Bai Ruozhu could tell that more than anything, he had done it to vent her anger.
He extended his hand to caress her cheek, his dark eyes filled with deep affection as he looked at her, "The Emperor has granted me three days of leave, let’s take the kids and go play in the Suburb of the Capital."
"Great!" Bai Ruozhu’s voice leaped with excitement, a family trip was the best, and since arriving in the Capital, they hadn’t had the chance to go out and about.
The couple discussed their travel plans, but soon a messenger from the Bo Residence arrived with news that Bai Fu and his wife would be leaving the Capital the day after tomorrow, and the Bai Family naturally needed to see them off, so their own trip had to be delayed.
Seeing the flash of disappointment in his wife’s eyes, Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but reach out to tease her slightly upturned nose, "Silly girl, once we send them off early the day after tomorrow, we’ll head out of the City to play. We can return to the Capital the evening of the day after that. Although we can’t enjoy the full three days, it’ll still be nice."
Bai Ruozhu’s eyes brightened again, "Ok."
During dinner, the family finalized the arrangement to see off the old master and the old lady early the next day, and they also prepared some items for the couple’s journey.
Although Bai Ruozhu didn’t like them much, she still prepared some common medications for them, and Lin Ping’er made two sets of new clothes for them—whether they would wear them was their own business.
Upon mentioning his plan to take Bai Ruozhu and Dengdeng on a suburban outing the day after sending off Bai Fu, Lin Ping’er immediately said, "Just the two of you go and have a good time; I’ll take care of the child for you!"
Seeing her mother’s enthusiastic smile, Bai Ruozhu knew her mother was thinking about her granddaughter again, feeling a cold sweat, her mother was in such a rush, wasn’t she?
"Mom, Dengdeng hasn’t seen his dad in several days, let’s take him with us," Bai Ruozhu said.
Jiang Yichun wanted some alone time with his wife but couldn’t bear to leave his son behind—after all, the child would sleep at some point. With this thought, he also said, "Yes, let’s bring the child too, it’ll be too cold to go out later."
Upon hearing her daughter and son-in-law’s decision, Lin Ping’er had no good reason to object, and could only silently hope for the swift arrival of her granddaughter, yet this made her miss her older granddaughter even more.
"Ah, I wonder when your big brother and sister-in-law will arrive," Lin Ping’er couldn’t help but murmur.
"Mom, don’t worry, big brother must have completed two-thirds of the journey by now, soon our family will be reunited," Bai Zepei said from the side.
As the family was talking, Jiao Bingqin hurried in from outside. Upon seeing Jiang Yichun, she smiled with joy and greeted him, "Big brother Jiang, you have finally returned safely, my heart can now be at ease."
The faces of the Bai Family members looked somewhat displeased, wasn’t Jiao Bingqin a bit too enthusiastic?
Bai Ruozhu indifferently glanced at Jiang Yihong, then sidestepped to pick up her child; she certainly didn’t want to stand beside him and watch the woman opposite put on an act of deep affection, or else she would have lost her appetite for dinner.
Jiang Yichun felt a cold draft on his back as he watched his little lady leave. Feeling somewhat stifled, he glanced at Jiao Bingqin, but didn’t know how to continue his sentence.
Should he say "I’m fine, no need for you to worry"? That would sound too intimate, wouldn’t it?
"He wanted to say, ’You don’t need to worry about my business,’" but he was afraid that Jiao Bingqin would be unable to save face and end up crying right there, which would make the scene even more awkward.
So Jiang Yichun could only grunt in response, then turned and followed after his son to play with him.
But that still left Jiao Bingqin rather embarrassed. Her face flushed with a sense of grievance, she glanced at Jiang Yichun, bit her lip, and said, "Big Brother Jiang, about seeking justice for my father..."
"I have already reported it to the Emperor. He has sent people to secretly investigate. You just need to wait patiently. The Emperor will naturally see that justice is done for you," replied Jiang Yichun, looking up at her.
"Oh, that’s good. I’ll wait for Big Brother Jiang’s good news." Jiao Bingqin had pushed down her recent embarrassment and had put on a gracious smile again.
Soon, Xuan Jizi brought Xiaosi along, and after they exchanged greetings, they started their meal. Xiaosi glanced at Jiao Bingqin a few times, his gaze somewhat cold.
That evening, on her way back to the yard after dinner, Jiao Bingqin stumbled and even sprained her ankle. She immediately sent a maid to inform Jiang Yichun, implying she wanted him to show some concern for her.
The maid Xianshi said unhappily, "Regarding calling a doctor, the son-in-law never interferes with such matters; it’s always up to the lady of the house. I will inform the lady right away so she can send for a doctor to examine Miss Jiao."
Jiao Bingqin revealed her displeasure and said, "You, a maid, dare to lecture me? Even though my family is ruined and I am at the mercy of others, I have never seen myself as less than anyone. Fine, if even a servant treats me like this, I should no longer trouble the Bai Family!"
After she spoke, she hobbled toward the yard. Once she was back in the yard, Jiao Bingqin promptly packed her belongings, slung them over her shoulder, and announced she was leaving the Bai Residence.
Xianshi, still young, became somewhat afraid when she saw that Jiao Bingqin was serious about leaving, and her tone softened.
"Miss Jiao, you can take whatever you want. I was merely explaining the situation of the household to you. Wasn’t it because I was worried about delaying the calling of a doctor for you?"
As Jiao Bingqin limped along, she said, "It’s not the first time you’ve scolded me. I know I’m not welcome, so I won’t stay to be a nuisance."
The dark guard staying close to Jiao Bingqin immediately went to report to Jiang Yichun. Since he had been observing from a hidden spot, he knew everything and relayed the situation in detail.
"The young master threw a pebble at Miss Jiao from the shadows, causing her to sprain her ankle, but she seems unaware of anything..."
Bai Ruozhu frowned upon hearing this. She hadn’t expected Xiaosi to act so underhandedly and target Jiao Bingqin. She felt somewhat helpless, but her concern rose when she heard that Jiao Bingqin had sprained her ankle. She immediately ordered someone to notify Jiang Yichun, yet her expression fell.
It was supposed to be the matter of the lady of the house to handle such issues. There was nothing wrong with the maid reminding her. What was Jiao Bingqin’s outburst about?
Thinking this, Bai Ruozhu spoke coldly, "Xiaosi is mischievous, and I will discipline him. As for Jiao Bingqin wanting to leave, she may do as she pleases. Tell her once she leaves, she shouldn’t come back. Whoever dares to stop her can leave with her. The Bai Family won’t keep those with crooked thoughts!"
Jiang Yichun’s lip twitched. His wife was holding a tough stance on him; if he dared to intervene, he would surely face severe consequences.
He called for Muyu and said sternly, "Did you hear what the lady said? Convey it to Jiao Bingqin and also tell her if she dies outside it’s her own fault, and no one will care about her life or death!"
Bai Ruozhu turned, raising an eyebrow at Jiang Yichun. He was talking tough – wasn’t he afraid of being punished by the Emperor?
