Chapter 1081 - 1083 Space Rescues Chu Hai_1
"Isn’t it just that letting him leave the border earlier would not be good for coming to the Capital City?" Bai Ruozhu glanced at Madame Bo and continued, "After all, he committed such a serious offense, and at the time, it even alarmed His Majesty to send an Imperial Envoy. What if his presence in the Capital City brings trouble to the Bo Residence? And if someone with an agenda were to accuse him, I fear he might face additional punishment."
Madame Bo’s eyes lit up, she immediately grasped the meaning behind Bai Ruozhu’s words. Bai Fu and the Liu Family staying in the Bo Residence was also a nuisance to her, and Bai Ruozhu’s suggestion seemed like a good solution.
"Exactly, exactly, the Marquis has quite a few political adversaries. Look at the ambush he suffered this time. If it becomes known that Bai Yibo is taking advantage of the situation, the Marquis might not face any consequences, but Bai Yibo is likely to be exiled to the border for many more years," Madame Bo eagerly agreed.
"Participating in the Imperial Examination again is absolutely impossible for him. Wouldn’t it be better to return to his old home and become a Private School teacher? At least that would be more comfortable than the bitter cold of the border, right?" Lin Ping’er joined the conversation.
Madame Bo nodded, "I will discuss this with the Old Master once I get back, and I’ll make it clear to Bai Fu and the others. As for the two hundred silvers, just forget about it; there’s no need for you to go to the expense."
"We must pay. And please make it clear to the old lady, to prevent her from making a fuss again. She’s still thinking about the five thousand silver owed by our family," Bai Ruozhu said with a mocking smile on her lips.
Madame Bo snorted coldly, "I’m afraid your two hundred silver won’t even begin to satisfy her appetite."
"If the old man is worried about his son, surely he will leave. If she doesn’t leave, how could the Bo Residence keep her conveniently?" Bai Ruozhu raised an eyebrow.
Madame Bo nodded, "Alright, I understand what to do."
After a moment’s thought, Bai Ruozhu added, "Also, I would like to bring the clan’s Patriarch Grandpa and my Main Hall Uncle to live with my family. That way, when they return to the Capital City, they won’t be involved with the Old Master at all."
"I just worry that once Bai Fu leaves, the Old Master from my family will want Bai Lu to spend more time with him," Madame Bo said with a distressed expression.
"If they come to my house, they might not frequently return to visit Old Master Bo either," Bai Ruozhu mentioned.
Having heard all this, Madame Bo found it difficult to insist further. She thought it best to advise the Old Master properly—it wasn’t right to keep the Bai Family members indefinitely, was it?
Thereafter, Bai Ruozhu handed two hundred silver to Madame Bo, who, upon returning to the Residence, spoke of how Bai Yihong’s family returned kindness for malice and even offered money to help save Bai Yibo.
"Bai Yihong is a honest child; the youngsters in his family are also quite decent, it’s really a pity," Old Master Bo sighed. "But it’s good that no resentment remained."
"Father-in-law, now that we may manage to rescue Bai Yibo, what are your plans for him?" Madame Bo tentatively asked.
Old Master Bo raised an eyebrow, "Naturally, we’ll take him in and help him with some things. Even if there’s nothing for him to do, can our house not afford to support a few people? Don’t forget, if it wasn’t for Second Sister saving me back then, where would Bo Qun be today?"
Madame Bo nodded, but in her heart, she mulled, ’That gratitude is owed to Bo Jingru, but that doesn’t mean we owe her descendants, does it?’
"Auntie did indeed have merit for our house. How about the family provides funds to repair Auntie’s grave, to give her a more comfortable resting place below?" Bo Jingru suggested.
Old Master Bo immediately nodded, "Good, you arrange someone to handle this. It must be done well. Oh, and repair Second Sister’s husband’s grave at the same time."
Lady Bo responded immediately, but with a worried look, she continued, "It’s better for the aunt to have her own children care for her tomb, and besides, Bai Yibo’s cheating scandal had indeed incited the Emperor’s wrath. His Majesty designated an Imperial Envoy to handle the case. If he is brought back to the Capital City, I fear he may attract the attention of those with ulterior motives."
Seeing her father-in-law’s expression change, Lady Bo quickly said, "I’m not afraid this will implicate the Marquis’ Residence in any way. The Marquis is not shouldering any important duties now and won’t be punished by His Majesty. I just fear that it may lead to Bai Yibo being exiled again or receiving even harsher penalties. Especially since the Marquis still has some political enemies, if they seize this issue to target him, it would be bad if it caused trouble for Bai Yibo."
"Bo Qun having political enemies? You’re overthinking it," the Old Master relented somewhat, but still hesitated.
"Didn’t the Marquis just suffer an assassination attempt? He was very straightforward in his youth and offended quite a few people," Lady Bo said.
This time, the Old Master didn’t speak for a long while, then finally sighed and said, "You make sense. I’ll talk to Bai Fu about it, and this will also give them the opportunity to go back and tend to my second sister’s grave."
Lady Bo breathed a sigh of relief in secret, thankful that the matter could be resolved smoothly.
In the days that followed, smoothing over relationships like this naturally didn’t require Bo Qun to attend to it personally, and his stewards quickly nearly finished arranging everything. The Old Master shared his concerns with Bai Fu; for the sake of his precious son, Bai Fu immediately decided to return to Mountain Village, although his wife, Mrs. Liu, threw a tremendous fit over it.
...
Meanwhile, Bai Ruozhu had not been hearing from Zhou Jue, because his sudden visit had disregarded the diplomatic protocols between the two nations, so Emperor Wuning, Tang Yin, deliberately left him hanging for a while, not granting him an audience. Yet Zhou Jue was patient enough to just stay in the Guest House, with only officials from the Ministry of Rites checking in on him from time to time. Only the Vice Minister visited, not the Minister himself.
In other words, Danliang Country did not acknowledge the self-proclaimed identity of Zhou Jue as "Crown Prince."
Hearing this news, Bai Ruozhu always felt there was something odd, but she couldn’t pinpoint what it was. Her understanding of court affairs was limited, so she couldn’t analyze the situation fully.
The poison in Chu Hai had been suppressed, but because he used his inner strength, it exacerbated the poison. What could have been cured with a single application of the Ancient steaming method now became impossible, and Chu Hai would have to endure several more ordeals.
After deep consideration for several days, Bai Ruozhu finally decided to use the Space to save Chu Hai, but she could not let anyone, including Chu Hai, know about the existence of the Space.
"Jianqi, I’ve thought of a set of Needlework to detoxify Chu Hai, but it is very peculiar. I am barely able to manage it, and if anything goes wrong, all previous efforts could be wasted. Both he and I have suffered internal injuries, so I’ve been hesitating whether or not to use it," Bai Ruozhu said as she called Jianqi over.
Jianqi looked surprised, "Master must be cautious, take good care of yourself."
"Chu Hai’s condition worsened because he was saving me. I feel so guilty that I must try my best. It’s just that you must ensure that no one disturbs me. Also, Zhou Jue may have sent someone to watch over me. This Needlework is extremely precious and must not be revealed; you must ensure that no one spies on it secretly," Bai Ruozhu could only make such arrangements. She couldn’t take Chu Hai to a deserted area for treatment because of propriety between men and women.
Jianqi nodded solemnly, "Leave it to me to arrange everything. Once it’s all set, you can go and apply the needles to Chu Hai."
Soon Jianqi went to arrange for his subordinates. He had to ensure that Chu Hai’s Room was well guarded and no one came too close or took the chance to peek at Bai Ruozhu’s Needlework, which took quite some thought.
Bai Ruozhu also shared this reasoning with Diao Yao, telling her the process might be very painful. She feared Diao Yao might make noise upon hearing it from nearby, because even a little bit of crying could affect the needle application, ruining the detoxification and possibly causing both her and Chu Hai to suffer internal injuries.
