Chapter 1058 - 1060: Stop the Bleeding, The Secret in the Arrow_1
"It’s really effective, it’s really effective!" Bo Jiayang said excitedly as he grabbed his mother’s arm, urging her to look.
Lady Bo also saw that the bleeding had stopped and felt somewhat relieved, but the excitement made her tears start falling uncontrollably again.
Bo Caiyue looked at Bo Qun’s wound, then at Bai Ruozhu, her eyes filled with astonishment.
Bai Ruozhu, however, did not show much relief, asked Lady Bo for paper and pen, quickly wrote down some medicinal materials, and then handed it to Bo Jiayang, saying, "Please ask the eldest young master to have these herbs gathered as soon as possible. I’ve also written clear instructions on how to prepare the decoction."
After hearing this, Bo Jiayang hurriedly bowed to Bai Ruozhu and then took the formulas to instruct the head of the household staff.
At that moment, the Old Master also arrived, rushing into the room. Upon seeing Bo Qun’s condition, his eyes rolled back and he fainted, creating chaos among everyone. Bai Ruozhu had to tend to the Old Master, and once she revived him, she told Lady Bo, "The Old Master is too emotional; he may harm his health. It’s better to let him sleep for now; when he wakes up, his emotions should be more stable."
After speaking, she didn’t wait for Lady Bo to respond and directly inserted the needle, causing the Old Master to faint again.
She felt that the Old Master was not only unhelpful but also causing a disturbance. It was better to send him back to take care of his health. It wasn’t that she lacked sympathy for the Old Master, it was just that compared to his son, he was far less capable.
After thinking it over, Lady Bo instructed the servants, "Carry the Old Master to the adjoining Ear Room to rest. If he wakes up, he’ll be able to see the Marquis without having to travel far."
The servants quickly carried the Old Master out, and Lady Bo let out a sigh of relief, then said to Bai Ruozhu, "Ruozhu, please continue. Just ask for anything you need."
"I need my medical box to arrive, and the medicine soup to be prepared quickly. Everything must be ready before we can extract the arrow. Stopping the bleeding isn’t hard, but the most dangerous part is during the extraction." Bai Ruozhu’s expression grew serious; she had just examined him and found that Bo Qun’s internal organs were also damaged, and after the arrow was removed, it would be best to use the suturing technique, but...
Now, there wasn’t enough time to report to the Palace and come back again. Bai Ruozhu bit her lip; she had to take a risk.
After all, the suturing technique should never have been banned. Isn’t medical skill meant to benefit the people?
"Alright, I understand," Lady Bo said, her hand shaking when she heard that extracting the arrow was the most dangerous part.
Lin Ping’er and others who had come with the Old Master all looked worried but did not dare to speak out and disturb Bai Ruozhu as she treated the patient. However, Liu from the Liu Family curled her lip and said, "What did you just do, Bai Ruozhu? How could you knock out the Old Master? Are you trying to plot against the Old Master in secret?"
At such a critical moment, Liu from the Liu Family still wanted to pick a fight with Bai Ruozhu, making the Bai Family’s faces look especially unpleasant, wishing they could scold her outright.
"Get out! Who allowed you to come in here? Get out!" Lady Bo suddenly shouted, startling everyone in the room so much that the silence that followed felt as if even the drop of a needle could be heard.
Lady Bo, a noble lady by birth, always paid great attention to etiquette in her speech and behavior, rarely even raising her voice. Combined with her good temper, which seldom manifested in anger at home, this sudden outburst frightened all the servants into kneeling on the ground.
Bo Jiashu was the first to snap back to reality and hurriedly said to the maids kneeling at the door, "What are you staring at? Hurry up and take her away, and don’t let her set foot in the Main Courtyard again!"
The two maids snapped to their senses and scrambled up to pull Liu away. Liu herself was scared out of her wits. It was only after the maids tugged at her that she came back to reality and burst into tears, sobbing as she said, "I was just worried about the Old Master out of kindness, how could you scold me like that? I am your cousin-in-law, after all."
Madame Bo was still fuming and glanced over, saying, "Stop the noise, take her back to her room, and don’t let her leave without my permission!"
If it weren’t for her father-in-law who had brought Liu to the residence and was now in a coma, she would have definitely driven Liu out of the Bo Residence. That woman had no sense of propriety!
Being shameless was one thing, but given that it wasn’t Madame Bo’s place to interfere in the Bai Family’s affairs, still, her husband’s life was hanging by a thread. It was fine if the visiting guest didn’t care, but couldn’t she at least not add to the chaos?
Liu was practically dragged away by the maids. Bai Ruozhu glanced at her—both maids were incredibly annoyed with her. While they were pulling her, they pinched her several times in secret. The pain made Liu cry out, which only served to annoy the people of the Bo Residence even more.
Liu naturally scolded the two maids, but nobody was in the mood to care whether she was being mistreated or not. Everyone’s attention was on Bo Qun.
Bai Ruozhu found a pill and said to Madame Bo, "This is a pill to boost Qi and protect the Heart Meridian. I will administer it to the Marquis first; it will make the arrow extraction more stable later."
"Good, thank you so much," said Madame Bo, her demeanor softening again when facing Bai Ruozhu.
After Bai Ruozhu administered the pill and saw that the medical box hadn’t arrived yet, she pointed at the arrow in Bo Qun’s abdomen and said, "I recognize this arrow. A few months ago, an assassin shot my second brother in the chest with one exactly like it."
The Bo Family members all inhaled sharply, waiting for Bai Ruozhu to continue.
"Later, my husband did some investigating and discovered that the arrow was fired by someone from an assassin organization called Qisha Pavilion. The assassin who shot it is known by the nickname Chase Wind, famous for his archery skills, and this is the unique kind of arrow he uses," Bai Ruozhu said, narrowing her eyes, "Qisha Pavilion has always worked for money, eliminating problems for whoever can pay. Madam, you could follow this lead to find out who wants to kill the Marquis. Maybe you’ll quickly uncover the truth."
It took Madame Bo a while to gather her wits before she looked at Bai Ruozhu and asked, "Did you find out who hired the killer to murder your second brother back then?"
Bai Ruozhu glanced at her parents—she had kept this matter from them until now because she didn’t want them to know how she had dealt with Wang Miaoshuang.
"It was a Noble Lady; she has been divorced by her husband’s family," Bai Ruozhu replied briefly, prompted by Madame Bo’s question.
Lin Ping’er grew agitated all of a sudden: "Was it that former Noble Lady Wang Miaoshuang of the Meng City Marquis? What right did she have to kill your second brother?"
"Mother, please don’t be angry. I intended to deal with her myself, but unfortunately, she’s already dead. However, that’s just divine retribution," Bai Ruozhu said deliberately, to avoid the Bo Family members from spreading the news.
The crowd had various expressions. Although the Bo Residence was not familiar with the Wang Family, they knew of Wang Miaoshuang, including her peculiar way of dying. Yet, nobody had expected Wang Miaoshuang to be so vicious.
Just then, a dark guard returned and handed a medical box to Bai Ruozhu.
Bo Jiayang’s gaze flickered; this dark guard had entered without any announcement, quietly, and showed great respect to Bai Ruozhu. It was clear the guard was one of her subordinates, not her husband’s. With such formidable subordinates, it seemed Bai Ruozhu was no ordinary woman.
